Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tired I was a little disappointed coming back to this hotel. It seems old and dated now compared to the newer HiExpress hotels. It is the usual clean comfortable stay but there is no overhead lighting and the wash basin took ages to empty. I think it has become very expensive since the run up to the Olympics. Some hotels in the centre of London are cheaper. I would still recommend it, as it is only a very short walk to the tube and bus station to get anywhere you want. July 1, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly atmosphere, basic but comfortable and a good location This hotel offers good value for money and is in a good, convenient location for the O2, ExCel and all of the Docklands. My room was clean and comfortable with tea/coffee facilities but few toiletries. The breakfast was basic but of good quality. I would like to see a greater variety of cereals and some fresh fruit on offer. I was disappointed with the bar and I object to having to pay for wi-fi access. June 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overnight stay, short but satisfactory Stayed here after going to the O2 Arena - like many guests. Hotel is really convenient and comfortable for this purpose. The staff I encountered were pleasant and the room a good size and clean. My only slight criticism would be that the soundproofing between rooms isn't great but my neighbour didn't sing all the time, thankfully! Would recommend if you need to be in this part of London. The girl at the check in desk was really pleasant and friendly giving us all the information that we asked for and more. I was pleasantly surprised with the twin room, spotless, fresh, lovely comfy beds and pillows and with air conditioning. The shower room was lovely as well with nice touches such as the hand wash and shower cream. The breakfast was nice, fairly good choice and well set out so you can help your self. I would definately go back if we were in that area again. June 7, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad bed and too far from London, but friendly staff Aside from the friendly and helpful staff, we wouldn't recommend this hotel. The mattress of our double bed was awful, you could feel the springs, and it was over-soft. We spent four nights there and honestly, we weren't able to get a good night sleep, because of the poor mattress and pillow quality. The breakfast buffet was okay. The viennoiserie were quite stale, and everything was the same everyday: scrambled eggs, sausages, and baked beans, bread, jam, butter, some fruits, yoghurts (which were completely tasteless), cereals, juice, coffee, and tea. The location is not convenient as it is located completely east in the Docklands, past Canary Wharf. Even though you are a 5 minutes walk from the Canning Town DLR Station, you are completely outside downtown London. May 24, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Slight disappointment On the whole our stay was ok just a couple of issues. Feeling chilly in the evening we both felt that the bedding was not welcoming, warming or indeed remotely adequate. The covers were thin and small on our twin beds and there were no blankets in the room that we could have used. This is the first time i have stayed in a hotel and not been supplied with additional bedding should we need it. Also there was only one bath towel which I consider to be very bad and the one we had was rough and felt horrible to use. We had friends stay in two other rooms the same night and they had no bath towels supplied at all. Also taps yucky in bathroom and plug smelt. Breakfast was pleasant so that helped the lack of comfort in the room. I had intended to mention it when I checked out assuming I would be asked if everything had been ok but I wasn't asked and was treated quite abruptly by the reception staff as usual without a smile. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Beyonce and shopping trip from the isle of wight It was my daughters first time driving on the motorway so we set off from the isle of wight with plenty of time. She was a natural and arrived way ahead of schedule but this was no bother to the waiting reception staff. The date was friday 3rd of may and the two young girls on reception were fabulous. They advised us that checking in was in a few hours and allowed us to leave our car in the car park and venture off for an afternoon of shopping. Having stayed in some of the best hotels around I can honestly say those girls could teach them a few things about customer service and friendly welcomes. Top marks to the holiday inn for looking after their customers. thank you May 9, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Overpriced Driving to this hotel I found it difficult to find, even local taxi drivers could not direct us. The room was small, the 'Sofa' bed, provided for a third adult was very small. Similar problems in the breakfast room, trying to 'Save Money' the staff were slow to bring out sufficient food. Cost cutting and profit at this Hotel is effecting the image of the brand. I wanted an overnight stay prior to flying out the following morning from City Airport, fully intending to drop off the hire car that night and taking public transport. Trying to locate the hotel left us arriving late, parking at the rear of the hotel and walking to the front is not a safe experience. Parking charges apply and the extra days car hire together with an overpriced, Monday booking did nothing to enhance the stay. May 8, 2013

Good room size Dislikes: 1. No variety in breakfast. Same every morning 2. Bed too small for a couple. Minimum should have a queen sized bed option. 3. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I would return if going to O2 again We stayed in this hotel to see an act in the O2 recently. Whilst my friend and I only stopped for one night, the twin room provided was clean and a decent size. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the room as is dove hand soap/shower gel. We had a room on the first floor and I was worried that the road noise may keep me awake but it didn't. It is a wide, big road but it didn't seem a particularly busy one. The O2 is easily accessible and Canning Town station is not even a 5 minute walk away. We did have to queue to get into the underground station at North Greenwich after our show had finished, but as soon as you get down the escalators to go eastbound back to the hotel, the amount of people diminishes so it was easy and safe. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, breakfast was decent and my only criticism wold be the staff weren't friendly or chatty, but that may be personal choice. I would recommend. May 4, 2013

The rooms were very neat, clean and comfortable, and the pillows were the most comfortable thing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I'd definitely come stay again in the future. The walls were paper thin and we could hear next doors conversation and their alarm on their phone woke us up early the next morning. The beds were so uncomfortable that they numbed our hips when lying on our side - not good when running the london marathon April 28, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room About Average The room was about what you would expect, the location was very good though. Right next to the station. Breakfast. What a disaster area. Both drinks machines were broken, no sign telling anyone though. There was water everywhere where people had been trying to get a drink not knowing it was broken. The lady working there was oblivious to the fact that there were no sausages, there was water everywhere and only did something about it when I pointed it out. The layout is rubbish, tiny little room with entrances on both sides meaning its a bit of chaos when busy. No bacon, tomatoes or fried eggs, which is the standard fare at most hotels. Basically scrambled eggs and sausages. Luckily it was included, i wouldn't pay £2 for that breakfast. April 9, 2013

We flew to city airport and could not believe that within 10 minutes we had arrived at DLR station crossed the road and arrived at hotel. Our room was excellent and was spotless.We could not believe the beautiful breakfast we got the following morning with a great choice both hot and cold . We slept well and that night we enjoyed a lovely meal in the italian restaurant a few doors along and then took our relatives to the hotel where we had a few drinks in the lovely lounge area. We stayed a few nights and loved how quickly we could be in central london and also canary wharf and the o2 arena. We were not flying home until late evening and were told we were welcome to leave our luggage in the hotel until we had finished our last minute shopping in Grenwich. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay. April 8, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Room ok. Not much else to say. Location not pretty. 5 mins walk to DLR. Facilities downstairs awful. Cup of tea comprised of tea bag hot water and horrible UHT milk. Could have had the same in the room. Bar area stark and unfriendly. Little choice of drinks and no food available until breakfast. Breakfast appalling, tasteless and cheap, bread rolls and pain au chocolate. There were only scrambled eggs and baked beans. Juice machine was not working. Breakfast was chosen in a tiny chaotic room. Could not eat the food, it was disgusting. Room ok but air con only did cold air and radiators were blazing hot so was either one or the other. Radiator could not be turned off. Noisy lift kept us awake all night. Bit like staying in a cardboard box. April 8, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I STAYED AT THE DOCKLANDS HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS FOR 3 NIGHTS WITH MY CHILDREN DURING THE WEEK BEFORE EASTER. THE BEDS WERE REASONABLY CONFORTABLE BUT THE ROOM WAS VERY COLD IN THE AFTERNOON AS THE HEATING WAS OFF. I ACCEPT THAT IT WAS AN UNSEASONABLY COLD SNAP BUT WAS UNHAPPY WITH RECEPTIONS RESPONSE THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO CHANGE THE TIMING CONTROLS TO BOOST THE HEATING. BREAKFAST WAS GOOD EXPECIALLY AS IT WAS INCUDED IN THE PRICE ALTHOUGH THE VARIETY OF ITEMS VARIED DRAMATICALLY FROM DAY TO DAY. PLEASE CAN YOU GET THE BROKEN JUICE MACHINES FIXED AS THE ONE THAT DID WORK DISPENSED THE JUICE BY THE TABLESPOON!! OVERALL THE STAY WAS FINE AND GOOD VALUE FOR A LONDON HOTEL SO CLOSE TO THE TUBE / DLR / BUS STATION AND I WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN. April 5, 2013

Breakfast is good, lots of choice but no bacon which is a shame. Only one small complaint - the duvet on the bed was quite thin and not very warm, otherwise, we had a good stay. April 4, 2013

Overall a very pleasant stay, but when we returned to the hotel after our night out we were unable to get a nightcap at the bar as all the spirits & wines had been "locked away" & the coffee served was only lukewarm. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but not excellent :) Didn't wake up in time for breakfast, so have left as average, however there are shops and greasy cafes nearby so it wasnt a problem. Bed was very very soft and we prefer something firmer, so they lose a star for comfort :) Otherwise staff were friendly and helpful and it was nice and quiet. March 8, 2013
