We knew it was a new hotel and there may be some teething problems and we were not disappointed. Breakfast was a bit cold. The cleaners were eager to get into the room (they knocked on the door before 9am). There was a bit of confusion over the room rate. Not big things, but just a bit of an irritation. Plus points include a good room, free wifi and computers, and friendly staff. October 9, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Holiday Inn Express we have stayed in We stay away for business and leisure across all brands and standards of hotel, we chose the Holiday inn Express Southwark on this occasion due to its location. It is the best Express we have stayed in, and service wise, couldn't fault it. From the help with our room requests/ reservation (thank you Jennifer and Elena), and throughout our stay, service was friendly and efficient. Housekeeping throughout was excellent; and the breakfast definitely the best we have had in an Express (often can be a bit hit and miss but not here); quality and choice for an Express was extremely good. Having managed in hotels for almost 20years, I know how much hard work goes into a providing a clean, well run hotel, offering excellent service.... Well Done to all the team, great job!! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 good location - no recognition for IHG club members - no complementary water - no help from reception for tour business and no concierge - bad room that is facing new construction where noise - no restaurant - no large varaities for breakfast - no room service - no good attention for cleaning room even with note at door or asking reception. Waited for 6 hours to clean the room. - no good welcome when arrived at hotel even after long trip - we couldnt check in before 11 am -no assistance for any touring arrangments. September 29, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and super clean! We loved this hotel! It's less than 5 minutes away from the Tube and close to a bunch of eating places. Also, it's only a 5 minute walk to the Thames River too. So even though it is South of the river, this location is still great and it is easy to get to any tourist attraction from this hotel. I would definitely stay here again. Our only problem was that our room was cold, but the staff is extremely accommodating and helped us with that by providing extra duvets. One of the managers, Paco, is absolutely great! He was the most helpful and definitely our favorite staff member. September 9, 2014

Location was good, with tube stationswithin easy walking distance. Also easy to walk into central London. Close to Borough Market , and a few bars and restaurants. Breakfast in the hotel was very good, better than other similar priced hotels we have stayed at in the past in London. Friendly staff on reception and at breakfast. September 3, 2014

We stayed for 2 nights, breakfasts were great, especially for my 4 grandchildren,11-13 years old, they loved the hotel. 10 minute walk to Southwark underground station, and then 10 minutes to all that London offers, so easy, try it.
