Stayed for three nights during a trip to london with our daughter.
Having worked in the hotel business in london for nearly 20 years, both my wife and I are naturally always aware of hotel standards and service. With most hotel prices out of the reach of so many people outside the corporate sector, we were very happy to have found this hotel. Although not immediately in the centre of london, it was ony a short walk from either southwark underground or Waterloo station and therefore only 3/4 stops into town.
The room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast had a reasonable choice including english breakfast items, given the price of the room.
The outstanding part of the stay was definately made by the staff, who were all very welcoming and professional. Most of them multi-tasked which I think is a feature of the 'express' brand but showed no problem in being able to adapt to different areas of the hotel.
The staff of a hotel will always make a difference to your stay, whether good or bad and this was definately a good stay.

Perfectly placed for the Southbank (Tate Modern, The Shard, Borough Market, The Globe etc) this hotel was clean, comfotable and came with wonderful service from the staff. Complimentary breakfast was of good quality and plenty of it so an ideal set up for the day ahead.
Would definately stay here again.

My wife and I were delighted by the welcome we received at Holiday inn, Southwark. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing our room earlier than we expected and always greeting us with a smile. the room was clean, spacious and provided all that we needed. the bed was comfortable.
Inevitably it was rather noisy, being on such a busy street.

This was a booking for 6 rooms and 7 work colleagues which I made on recommendation from an online booking company.
When we all arrived after a long journey, we were greeted by a building site - both inside and outside (next plot) the property. The wind was blowing a gale in reception and the reception staff could hardly be heard above the banging and hammering. The lift was tiny and antisocial with guests crammed together in close contact. The Complimentary WIFI, dd not work and breakfast was dire. The sausages inedible, no bacon and plastic sheeting everywhere. I could have been more disappointed for me and my colleagues who were there to attend an awards ceremony and had not been to London before. I had hoped this would be a special experience for them. This is not what I expect from Holiday Inn, a chain which I use on a regular basis through work.

I Have to say this was the worse hotel I have stayed @ in the IHG group in 12 years, & will not be staying again :-
1) Breakfast Poor
2) Building work going on when I arrived , that I was not warned off and there was no bar ..
3) Pipes were rattling all night and could not sleep
4) Order Newspaper that never arrived
5) Check out staff clearly need some happy pills .

The hotel is under a major refurbishment in the lobby and breakfast area but this is not mentioned by anybody at the time of booking. The corridors are cramped, the only lift is old and clunky. The bedrooms are tiny and very unclean, including black mound in the bathroom, and cracked tiles all over the place. But the worst of all was the radiator next to the bed which made loud noise all night long, rendering sleep impossible. Do recommmend this place to your worst enemies! I will add that the staff did their best under very difficult circumstances. But management should be ashamed!

The staff at the Hotel was excellent. Very helpful.
I faced problem due to lack of in-house Restaurant for Lunch and Dinner. There is no Lunch, Dinner or room service. There was heavy snow in London and we could not go out for Lunch or Dinner and had to remain on food bought from India.
Also there were no closed cupboard but an open closet for cloths. You do not like to keep your cloths in open.
there was renovation work going on but the staff provided free internet vouchers to be used in the room as there was lot of disturbances in the lobby. Again an excellent attitude of the staff.

My partner and I came for a theatre visit,this hotel is ideally situated within easy walking distance of not only Dury lane but all else that London as to offer,
The reception staff were very welcoming and professional.u
Upon our arrival we were greeted with a smile and this set the tone for the rest of our stay.
We are already planning a return visit.

This was our second visit as the location is fantastic. Just off Waterloo and close to the Tate etc and all the bars and restaurants that the southbank offers. From here, we walked to the barbican (no time at all) and the V & A (quite a walk, but well worth it).
We were given a room on the 6th floor and the receptionist seemed to imply this was a good thing. I'm sure it might be elsewhere, but our room (604# had a low level rumbling generator above it #on the roof?# which ran all night. The manager seemed horrified that this was the case and that we had not spoken up earlier #perhaps we should have, I think they would have moved us). The breakfast was adequate due to the renervations and there was reduced space to sit.
However, this will not put us off as we know how good this hotel normally is and it's location suits us.

Our stay at this Holiday Inn was comfortable and fit our needs perfectly. A place to sleep and to have a nice breakfast to start our day of sightseeing. Location worked for us. We were able to walk to all the important attractions. The only area that was a bit far was Oxford Street and Harrods. The tube, and taxis are easy to get so that really was not an issue. The cost of the room was definitely good for London (everything in London is very expensive!). But it is not a luxorious room and hotel, it is comfortable and very clean and that is all that we needed. The housekeepers did a very thorough job each day. And the front desk personnel were just awesome! Always friendly and willing to help in any way possible. Jennifer was extremely helpful but the others were too. That in itself was worth the cost. Having staff that helped and did so cheerfully. I would stay here again and recommend this for anyone who is on a budget.

The hotel is in a reasonably good location south of the river. I have stayed in plenty of Holiday Inn Express, so knew what to expect. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, the hotel is looking tired internally and in need of refurbishment. I know that the ground floor dining area is undergoing some upgrades. Hopefully the rest of the place will follow on. And you really need to sort out those noisey radiators!

A holiday inn. does what it says. A basic room near where I have to work. The Room and the Hotel were clean and well maintained.
The staff were particularly pleasant, cheerful and helpful. It was nice to be staying some where, where the staff seem to want to do do their work. Thank you.

For good public transport access for shopping,theatre and sight seeing this hotel represents very good value plus the benefit of on-site car parking at reasonable cost.
The staff were very friendly and helpful .
The breakfast choice was good in a clean and comfortable area.
The only negative was not having an extra pillow in the room but if I had asked I am very confident one would have been brought to the room straight away such was the excellent attitude of the staff.
Overall this hotel can be considered ideal for business and general leisure purposes and child friendly.For a special occasion however most guests would probably want something more grand.

Ideal location to view the sites of London.
The staff were very warm and welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable and it was very quiet too.
Only a few minutes walk from the tube it was easy to find.
The entire hotel was clean and tidy and it was easy to relax.
If your looking for somewhere to stay within easy access to London's many attractions, you won't go far wrong with this hotel.
Will use this hotel again for future London vists.

We especially enjoyed the assistance from and interaction with Georgia. She (and the others) helped us find our way around, recommended restaurants and saved us some $$ by suggesting transportations options. Thank you all very much.

Stayed here for 2 nights when visiting the O2 for a gig. Chosen because it's fairly central (easy walking distance from the Millenium Bridge, Tate Modern and Globe) whilst still being a very easy journey by tube from the O2 (Jubilee line with no changes) and a short walk from Southwark tube station.
It's a typical Holiday Inn Express so we knew what we were getting, and although on the front of the hotel the room was quiet thanks to the secondary glazing. There was a limited choice of cereal, fruit and yoghurt for breakfast but baked beans, sausages and scrambled egg were available so you could make yourself beans on toast if the rest didn't appeal.

Hotel is in a grest position for exploring London and is minutes from the Tate Modern.
Hotel is spotlessly clean and staff were friendly.
One major drawback however....this was the most un- corfortable bed I have slept in ever.
When I mentioned this at reception in the morning the staff did not appear interested which was a shame as they were very frindly smiley people.

In general, the stay in Holiday Inn Express Southwark is a positive experience. Not too far from Metro station, and quite easy to locate.
The room cleaniness and comfort is meeting expectation, except there is no wired Ethernet in the room.
Even though there is WiFi in the room, but it is not free. The charges per-day-use is way too high at 12.50 pound as compared to BT Fon, at only 5.00 pound.
"Encouraging" customer to go down to lobby area to use the free WiFi is not projecting a right image of Holiday Inn. I have been to Holiday Inn Express in Asia, and free WiFi is very key in selecting the right hotel to stay.

The room itself is lovely, however the radiator in the room was tapping in a rhythmic pattern from around 3am, meaning I had one of the worst nights sleep I've ever had in a hotel.
I was told I'd have some Priority Points added to my account so that I could have another night of hopefully better sleep but as yet it appears that they're not there (I think, looking at the last couple of stays it seems they've not been added anyway)
In short, I wish I could say I had a relaxing night here but alas I didn't

The breakfast choice at this Holiday Inn Express is poor. At our 3 breakfasts only fresh fruit was sad looking oranges,there was no natural yogurt or cheese. One morning there was no coffee in the machine.
On the plus side the staff were very quick at clearing the tables.

Nothing bad to say about this hotel, no queues at check in which is usually a bugbear with me for other hotel chains, staff were friendly, room clean and cosy. Not cutting back to the bare minimum of supplies and taking away phone like a certain otehr chain. Only downside was stopping out until 5am clubbing which meant I slept all through breakfast which i was miffed about but its my own stupid fault realy so I'll give you a 5/5 for breakfast even though I didnt make it but based on my previous experience of your breakfasts and the fact that you actually include it in the price instead of ripping customers off charging extra im sure its deserved. Also at other chains I have had loud noises such as cleaning, broken lifts, deliveries etc disturbing me throughout the morning but I was left in peace to deal with my hangover and the staff werent stroppy about us being a bit late for checkout. Only one slight gripe, my friend bought a carton of ribena and was charged about £1.30 which is a bit ridiculous. Great location too about 10 mins walk from Tower Bridge staion and 5 minutes from shops and amenities, Tower and its touristy area is in within 15 mins walking distance too.
