Sometimes it is how a business reacts to a customer's bad experience that really makes a difference. I stay here often and my stays are usually run of the mill - just ordinary. Decent room, friendly staff - what one expects when traveling for work. My last stay, a couple weeks ago, was not good - staff member did not follow through with what he said he would do and I was quite unhappy. When I arrived for this two night stay, the hotel had a surprise for me in my room and a note to say how sorry they were for the problem during my last stay.
I was surprised and very pleased at their effort to make up for the last stay. My sincere thanks to the individuals that remembered me and cared enough to value my business.

I have come to expect good rooms and solid value from HIE properties. The front desk staff at this location could be used as training models--- some of the best I have run into.

Rooms were pretty standard hotel fare: clean, comfy, nice sized beds and TV. Best part was the continental breakfast. Lots of variety and a fun little pancake-making machine.

This hotel has a warm atmosphere, the staff is super friendly and extremely helpful. The facilities are competitive and comfortable. The location is convenient for anywhere in the Madison area.

I was in town on business and was having trouble with my computer. I was unable to get documents prepared that were necessary for my presentation the next day. However, Vincent, one of the front desk clerks, took the time to help me get the documents from my CPU to the Business Office. He truly went above and beyond. The whole staff was friendly and welcoming.

Room was clean and quiet. Close to Midwest Horse Fair and easy to find. Parking was not the best.. Lot is small and designed for sub compact cars. The experience was good and after a long, cold and wet day at the 2013 horse fair the room was a comfort that I forward to.

Passing through the area - hotel was okay , good location with easy access to the belt line. Price was good.
Hotel rooms need an update - Rooms are older and feel dirty. Bathroom was old.
Staff very friendly and breakfast was great!

I checked into Madison HIExp around 11:30 on a Friday night after a long drive. Stepping into the lobby, I should have just walked out and gone somewhere else. The lobby, pool, hallways, and any tables, chairs, couches, floor space was taken over by peewee wrestlers and parents (used term loosely), since obviously the kids were running the hotel. The ONE elevator was completely monopolized by kids playing and running up and down the halls and stairwells well after midnight and on to early morning hours...while the parents spent the night out talking each other and drinking in the lobby/bar area they had created and camped out in. In the morning the "complimentary" breakfast and coffee must have been enjoyable since there was nothing available when we arrived. Parking was non-existant. I was not surprised when checking out Sunday morning, the nice young man at the front desk, didn't ask me how I enjoyed my stay. He said he could tell by the look on my face, he didn't really want to know. So, in conclusion, I've spent thousands of dollars over the last several years staying in Holiday Inn Exp...most recently in Rochester, MN...I'll find a room somewhere else if at all possible before I stay again. I've travelled with travel soccer teams for nine years....we were NEVER EVER allowed to take over a hotel like this one was.
