Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Claire24 Brill hotel & helpful staff
We stayed here as a family of 4 with 2 older girls (17&13). We booked 2 rooms & on arrival the hotel staff sorted it so we had inter-joining rooms, which was really helpful. We were going to the P!NK concert at the MEN arena & the hotel organised a taxi for us. Staff really pleasant & helpful. Breakfast really good. We will definitely be staying here again. Great location & views over the Quays. Also close to Old Trafford. Thank you Holiday Inn Salford Quays for a great stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SteveK Overall, pleasing stay but uncomfortable bed
Excellent stay and good choice of items for breakfast, especially for a HIX. Very clean and excellent location, close to shopping centre with wide variety of shops and restaurants, located right by the quays. Only downside to the room itself was the very uncomfortably beds, we didn't have a very good nights sleep at all, which was a shame. My other comment is the lack of recognition for a Platinum PC member.

This is a great location to operate out of in Manchester. Only negatives are lack of free Internet in rooms ( come on its 2013!), and the geese in the lock can be quite noisy!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by d1ddy Definately not the best hotel in this area
I'm actually not happy with whole process I went through in booking and staying at this particular holiday inn.
The first error was when I made the booking. a Week later when I was charged for the booking this hotel deliberately charged me £200 over the agreed fee. This was much hassle to fix and I had to ring round the holiday Inn telephone numbers until I was passed on to the correct person who could send the refund that was due.
After another 3 business days I finally received the refund but was not happy as this mistake should have never happened in the first place.
On arrival the staff here did not seem as friendly and helpful as I usually see at most similar establishments to this.
We had to complain regarding noise from other guests at this hotel which I believe could have been avoided if the walls between rooms weren't so thin! You could actually hear what the guests next door were talking about it was so bad.
Needless to say, I wont be rushing to go and stay here again when I visit Salford/Manchester

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ejdeeeee Good, but one or two things that bring it down.
Originally I booked a room for a group of three adults and one child that should have had a double bed and two single beds. I even rang ahead to confirm this and the hotel said they wouldn't do anything to fix this.
A couple of the receptionists were unhelpful in recommending where to eat and find entertainment in the area and their knowledge of the nearby bus and tram route was very weak. How could they not know this if they work in this area. My group figured it out for ourselves which is a joke when your a tourist in a foreign place.
Another receptionist was most unfriendly but this could have been a "quirky" British thing but most people were friendly while this tall, male receptionist was not.
I do recommend this hotel, excellent for going to Old Trafford. The breakfast was brilliant and a real deal breaker being included in the price. The rooms are suited to three people at most. Basic, but ticks all the boxes.

This hotel is approx. 5mins walk to the nearest tram station that takes you into Manchester city centre. Very regular service.
I have stayed here a few times, but i would love to return in the summer months, outside dining, plenty of lovely walks around the quays .lowry theatre and outlet centre across the bridge. plenty of eating places around the Quays. About 20 min walk from Old Trafford, As it was raining when i was at Salford Quays, went in the car, just to see the outside of the stadium and take pictures.
Free parking at the stadium ( not match days ) and went into the cafe for a drink. Now im not a football follower, but i wished i had went on the tour, it was just a little late when we decided to go.
Back to the hotel review. A really nice room that looked onto the watersports area, Clean and tidy, nice bar area, prices a bit expensive though. There is an area that has a vending machine, ice maker, and a microwave. Breakfast was ample, and served buffet Style. I will return here and highly recommend

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PAC57 worst night ever at a holiday inn
This was by far, my worst experience at a holiday inn, there was a hen party that came back in at 3.30 am & they were very noisy with it.
And then to top the girls up, at 5.30 ish the smokers came out to play & proceeding to talk very loudly, whilst they got their intake of nicotine, DIRECTLY UNDER OUR ROOM 414!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Delilah Good location
I had stayed at the hotel previously and was more than happy to return, however, I requested a double room and got an adjoining twin room, I was told all the doubles had already been allocated. The hairdryer was broken, this wasn't really an issue has I always take mine own, but the plug socket was too far away from the mirror and the only way of viewing it was to unlock the adjoining door it was attached to, not entirely practical. On a plus side the bed was comfortable and I like the choice of soft or firm pillows. I would go back as the location is ideal and the staff were very accommodating

The room was fine, clean and comfy, would of been nice to have a couple more tea bags and maybe a couple of bisuits !
The room was clean and the beds were comfy.
The shower and pressure was very disappointing.
Breakfast was Ok a little more choice (bacon, fried eggs etc) would of been good and plates / cutlery and tables you didn't need to clean before you sat down would of been really good !
Cost was good (why is Media City over a 3rd of the cost more when its the same Hotel chain ?) and great location for the footi and a tram stopp a couple of hundred yards away if you want to go into the city !

Check-in was smooth and efficient, rooms were clean, comfortable and just what we needed for our short stay.
Breakfast wasn't great. LONG queues for cooked food from a very small self-service "alcove". They were quite busy when we stayed which could explain the queues and the stress level of reception staff the following morning - several minor erros insistant that "we don't have any record of a booking in your name" when I produced my payment receipt the receptionist realised he was checking against the wrong date. Also wrong details recorded for Priority Club.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by CharmaineM Convenient location but didn't feel 3 star
The first impression was really good. The staff at the front desk were really nice and helpful, and area downstairs was nice and welcoming.
Unfortunately, the room (family room) was tiny, the mattress had me and my husband rolling into each other, and the air conditioner was so loud and turned on and off so frequently that it kept me awake for most of the night.
Breakfast was basic and the scrambled eggs weren't very nice. My husband felt the sausages were the cheap kind. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Staying at this hotel made our short trip to Manchester relaxing and enjoyable. Very clean and comfortable family room with fantastic view of Old Trafford. Had a good nights sleep and then a nice breakfast to start the day off. Very busy at breakfast because everyone came in at same time. Staff apologised but it was not their fault. Reception staff were helping to clear tables etc, so impressed by their efforts. Staff at hotel are friendly, helpful and overall customer focused. Hopefully this positive feedback will get back to them. I will definitely consider booking again. Only gripe was inflated price due to Man Utd game on but still good value.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pearly Totally relaxing experience
We booked fairly late. Staying for a couple of days during the half term holiday. The rates were acceptable to us, so we set out for the two night stay. We live in the Northampton region, so the trip wasn't too bad. We found plenty of room in the hotel's car park, which is nice after a lengthy drive, and at £3.00 per night, quite reasonable too. The reception desk was manned by a most charming man, who made us most welcome to the hotel. We were also asked if we'd like a room with a water view or a car park view(??) No brainer if you ask me. So we took the water view, and had no regrets at all. The quays at night are beautiful. The room was extremely spacious, huge shower, even had a settee that lets down to a double bed, should you require it. Plentiful choices with a 'free' hot breakfast, but also plenty of choices of cereals if required. The late check-out also allows for a last minute shopping session for the wife without having to move the car. All in ~ great place. wonderful location and was made to feel very much at home.

Great location for old trafford and quays...but thats about it...luke warm reception from staff, room ok, shower broken and cramped. Breakfast ransacked in the morning...had to wait 30 mins for food other than apples....everything else as you would expect from a holiday inn.
Good beafeater next door and near mal for shops/food options.

It first went wrong when I checked and was asked to join the "Holiday Inn Priority Club"....... I am a Platinum Member.
Soap container situauted next to the wash basin was missing. Reported to reception and they did put a replacement in.
Attempted to have a shower in the morning and there was a large hole in the shower pipe and therefore a trickle of water came out of the head.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by commentator Reservation changed without warning
As a Platinum Member and a frequent worker in Manchester I have had many excellent stays here but this last trip was a shocker.
I booked and paid for a double room with sofa six weeks before my stay( sofa ideal to relax) and when I came to check in at 9.50pm on my first night I was told, curtly, 'we've no more double rooms'- when I pointed out that was what I booked- and noone from the hotel had made any attempt to contact me- the guy just shrugged his shoulders.
Having paid in advance I was lumbered with an uncomfortable and unwelcoming twin unless I chose to book elsewhere, which ahving paid in advance would have seen me lose what I had paid- if I could find something else.
Staff attitude summed up by the fact that I complained to the Manager and he had my number and promised to investigate the shambles and ring me back.
A week later he has still not done so.
It's a shame because its a great hotel, but if you cannot trust the staff to honour the reservation you have made or at least make the slightest attempt to contact you if there's an issue you think long and hard about visiting it again.

Not a good price, but well done staff,
