Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Different than most This place runs differently from most Holiday Inn Expresses I've stayed at. And, I've stayed at quite a few. First off, I was informed that I pre-paid my room when I checked in. I denied that and explained that I made a reservation on the internet like I had done countless times before. Nope, insistence that I pre-paid. Then was told that instead of cancelling a day off my reservation when I called to change it, they just moved my reservation back a day. So, I had still pre-paid for 4 days, even though I was only going to be there 3 days. The manager did correct the extra day; she said anyway. When it came time for check out, I was told that because I pre-paid, that I wouldn't get a receipt. I didn't get a receipt from anyone else, so I have no receipt. Was told the manager would call. A week later, still no call. Not impressed. Also, was assigned a Smoking room because that's what my profile said. Went and checked my profile (online) and sure enough, it had been changed to Smoking. Not sure how that would have happened. I've never smoked. Every room I've had before this stay was a non-smoking room. Just weird experiences with this place all-around. July 26, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Little too crowded. Hotel is a little to crowded. Lots of shopers and small parking spaces.. at a fair distance. Staff seems a little overwelmed and stressed. Lots of kids walking around and using the business center for video downloading and listeing to music; pretty uncomfortable. Also, for the same reason, a lot of people walking aorund late at nght on hallways. July 8, 2013

The gym was great and the staff were exceptional. One staff member in particular was very caring and helped me enjoy my stay at the highest level possible. I would definitely stay there again. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Uncomfortable beds but great service and suites I enjoyed my stay at this hotel because it is well located and has very good facilities, my only complaint is that the beds were too soft and in my the sleep I could not rest as I wanted. She is prompt, always communicates my confirmations, and she is always very polite and courteous. Our family uses this hotel 70% of the time when I or my daughters play sports. on this stay I played football in Edinburg and found the hotel to be very comfortable and especially loved the way the beds and sofa area were seperated by a door. We have always loved the hot breakfast wheather its to re-fuel from the day before or to get us going the day of, its always the best. To me this hotel is perfect when traveling with sports. we will be using it though for vaction in the next couple of months.. June 11, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rude staff and gross breakfast My husband and I stayed in a jacuzzi suite. First, I noticed the inside of the jacuzzi had rust in it and it also had pieces/buttons missing. There were no directions on it all on how to get it started. Secondly, there was only one small blanket to cover with so my husband went and asked the front desk lady for a blanket and she rudely told him that we reserved that room for only one guest. Let me say...I may have done that since I did it through the Internet but either way I paid for a room that sleeps 2!! She gave him a twin size thin blanket after questioning him why he was there with me!!! Also, the shower head was all clogged! Lastly, The next morning we got up to eat breakfast....I got the biscuit and gravy and he got a bagel. The gravy tasted like water!!! And the biscuit was hard!!! I will need pay to stay at this place again...especially after that rude lady!! I wish my husband had taken her name down so I could post it here. June 1, 2013

Happy hour in the evenings, except Fridays I believe. Standard fair for breakfast, which is fine. All the equipment in the workoput room actually works and doesn't make a lot of noise, plus it's bigger than a closet. No problems May 22, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No internet, no concern I was booked to stay from 5/20 through 5/23/2013. When I checked in I wasn't told there was no internet service. Over the past 24 hours I have called the front desk 4 times about the problem and inquiring about repairs, no one ever called back. I was told this afternoon - 5/21 - that no one knew when repairs would be made, so I checked out. If I can't get on line, I can't work. No one showed a sense of urgency. No one asked why I was checking out early, or expressed regret. I have another trip reserved for June with a colleague. I am inclined to cancel and change to another property where the service is more amenable. May 21, 2013

I've been staying in several holiday inn in different time and places, and it is the first time I almost don't have a place to park my car. May 10, 2013

Upon told that I could not sleep due to snooring noise from next door neighbour, the Reception said that nothing she can do, as she could not wake up the guest at night. On the business side my choices on hotels were always based on the cities that photography conferences were being held at (Las Vegas, Phoenix, Atlanta, New Orleans, etc.) where I would stay at the designated 4 and/or 5 star hotels. At other times during the occasional family trip we would look for affordable hotels to stay in. So I have a certain level of expectation during my stays. Residing in Weslaco, there was never any need to book a hotel locally. So when on assignment required me to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in McAllen, I was pleasantly surprised. The Hotel was not only beautifully structured. But there was just a big city feeling to it. Everything about it made me feel relaxed, from the friendly and attentive staff, to the spacious rooms. My room had a desk with an office chair, outstanding to work on. When I needed to take a break I lounge in the pool area outside and marveled at the columns and lighted water waterfall. And later that evening, my wife and I enjoyed the evening at the heated indoor Jacuzzi. In the morning I used the exercised room which was awesome that I did not have to cut my exercise routine due to my stay. I took advantage of the laundry room, and finished my morning at the breakfast buffet before checking out. I can’t stress how surprised I was that this type of experience would be local. I also happen to stay at another hotel right after that had similar facilities in Corpus Christi, but at a much higher rate, and after my stay at the Holiday Inn Express had made such an impression, I was almost let down in every area. The breakfast was not free, and neither were the laundry services. And the rooms were uncomfortable, and the staff seemed tired. Without a doubt I definitely see myself staying at the Holiday Inn Express in McAllen just to get away. March 5, 2013

Hotel is very clean, comfortable, and secure. We took advantage of their breakfast buffet saving us much money. Staff was extremely helpful and responsive to our needs. We enjoyed the conveniece of being within walking distance to many shopping areas. I have never seen such a large Holiday Inn Express as this property. We highly recommended it! Thank you.
