Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Adequate The room was dated. The under-mount sink in the bathroom was very badly caulked to try to make the ill-fitting sink fit. It was kind of gross. However, the a/c worked well and the bed was comfortable. None of the ice machines on floors 4,5,6 or 7 worked, they just had a sign on each machine stating, "out of order." Why doesn't management direct guests to a floor with a working ice machine? I walked into the dining room one morning for breakfast and I was swarmed by 3 waitresses all seeming to compete with each other as to whose customer I was- a very odd and uncomfortable situation. The front desk staff was attentive and helpful. Either rent a car or take advantage of the shuttle service- you don't want to be walking alone at night, i.e., to Beale Street or to get some snacks at the closest gas station. September 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful Staff We had a nightmare start to our stay in Memphis, but Darrell the backshift customer services manager, was very helpful and assisted us making local calls to a number of persons to help us try and alleviate our problems. He went above and beyond the pale to help. Also the shuttle service was excellent (De and Taylor) and run us where we needed to go to sort things out. They are a great advert not only for Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental, but for the people of Memphis. September 5, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very helpful and considerate staff through out the hotel However the overall appearance, lack of freshness in the guest rooms and bathrooms, no ice on my floor, no refrigerator or microwave and dated decor left much to be desired. My husband and I were there for a class reunion and we stayed out of the room most of the time during our stay and that made it bearable. Had we not had friends staying at this hotel for the event we would have gone to an alternate hotel. September 5, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disapointed I have experienced other Crowne locations and this one is a far cry from those hotels as it does not provide the upscale comfort that they provide. When we arrived we found ourselves in a room with tattered and discolored bed covers. The bathroom was small and the hotel overall is in a desperate need of a facelift. The several layers of paint is chipping from the doors and falling from the ceiling. The ice machines were out of service on the first 6 floors, leaving guests to head to the 7th floor or the bar for ice. The shuttle service is done with a large SUV in which they load to over-capacity so we could not use the seatbelt. In addition to being over loaded, the guests with the longest legs were put in the third row with the least amount of room. September 2, 2014

Front desk and van driver offered great advice and were very happy to share details about downtown, food, and interesting things to see. Room was as expected and beds were lovely for sleeping in. Temperature was very warm and humid and could not be controlled well in the room. Toiletries and aroma therapy were great and a nice touch. Food was very disapointing though pretty standard for hotel fair. Hotel is historic in itself which made it charming. Fitness room was fine with three treadmills and had no problem working out every day. Overall, I'd recommend the hotel based on charm, location, and staff. Go out for meals and cocktails. I have never been at a hotel where whenever I came in contact with an employee - I was sincerely greeted and asked if I needed anything. EVERY employee!!! Also to mention they include a free shuttle service to Beale Street with the most awesome drivers in Memphis! Thank you Reginald! September 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Out of date decor I was expecting an exquisite overnight stay at the top of the brand. Instead, the decor was outdated (according to other brands that I have used) and the bathroom (a one sink) that required closing the bathroom door in order to stand in front of the sink. There was no couch or second chair (not counting the desk chair). How disappointing and if it hadn't been so hot outside, I might have checked some other brands in the area. Let me be clear, the desk and lobby personnel were the best, most helpful - couldn't ask for more. Thanks to them. August 28, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient to Peabody Hotel and Square Our national family reunion group met at the Crowne Plaza in Memphis, and it served our group reasonably well. Due to our late arrival time with a reservation which should have noted this, we were in a room with handicap facilities. It was functional, but the outfitted bathroom was a bit awkward for normal usage, let alone for someone with special needs. The staff served us quite well, and arranged transport to our other Memphis hotel on the 3rd day, due to being full - it eventually came! The restaurant served a decent breakfast, but the service was a bit slow. Overall the hotel felt a bit dated, compared to our 2nd hotel - certainly sufficient, but not excellent. August 26, 2014

The location is a distance from the action- both a plus and minus. Cleanliness was top-rate. The food was good and pleasingly presented. Also didn't have a fridge, but not sure if it was being remodeled since there was a spot behind the door of the unit which was empty. I must give a special 'shout out' to the restaurant staff - the food was excellent - fresh and well cooked! The restaurant staff were sincere customer service agents, who always wore a smile. We could not have asked for better customer service during our week-long stay! This is definitely our hotel of choice whenever we are in the Memphis area. August 20, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ants on the 8th floor We were on the 8th floor for two nights and there were small black ants all along, and climbing, the wall that the tv cabinet was on and in the bathroom. The hotel was 100% booked and the only option was to have the room sprayed. I disposed of over 100 ants over those 2 days. This hotel has seen better days. August 20, 2014

Our first oppinon of this hotel was that it was a little tired looking towards other Crown Plazas we have stayed in but the great attitude and service of the staff more than made up for this. The best thing about this Hotel for us was the free shuttle service that was available anytime to take us where we wanted to go, we never had to wait more than 10 minutes for it and the driver's were very knowledgeable and informative about the area.
