Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Russell's Wonderful staff and very comfortable room.
We only stay at Holiday Inn Express whenever possible because of the excellent staff and comfortable rooms. We have been traveling across the United States west to east and only stay at the Holiday Inns along the way whenever possible because we always have clean rooms and the staff is always helpful, efficiant and professional. We enjoy the clean breakfast area and the variety of food to choose from. You all do a great job and we appreciate your attention to comfort and detail.

Quiet spot near water. Food was average, but great value in a pricey area.

The hotel was clean and the staff very nice. I just felt the hotel was in need of fresh paint and carpeting. I was disappointed to learn there was no elevator, so I had to haul my bags up and later down the stairs.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GopherGo1 Clean and comfortable but needs a few refinements.
The stay was clean and in a nice area. The staff seemed to be a bit distant talking face to face. I would stay here again if a few things were refined a bit. We had no hot water, the hot tub was closed a bit too early for our taste, and the sliding glass doors inside the rooms are not air tight. Winds made them whistle thru the night.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by stephanie 123 a re=do of an old hotel that has not changed the fact it is just a re-do
The front desk girl who refused to assist me in looking up my membership was the first encounter with this hotel and continued throughout my stay ending with the front desk url requiring me to show my membership card by driving to the front desk them telling me I could have given her the information over the phone! I am disabled and this took a lot of effort for me as well as increased my pain..for no good reason..front desk staff needs some serious attitude changing and training

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Berkeleymom Best kept secret for families
When our family in Berkeley needs a getaway, we go to this Holiday Inn. It's a total vacation for everyone--gorgeous spot next to walking and bike paths; heated pool and spa; s'mores kits; DVD's and a huge breakfast. Plus it's 30 minutes from the East Bay. The rooms are big and gorgeous.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by JoS10 Almost a good hotel
The hotel was nice in many respects, but had three issues:
One, there are no elevators, so if you have a room on the second floor, be sure you can carry your luggage up the stairs (if you have any physical handicaps, be sure you can get a ground floor unit). That's not super major for most people, but out of character for a modern hotel.
Two, the bathroom cleanliness was atrocious. The room furnishings were nice, and the hotel seems well maintained, but there was human hair on my shower walls when I arrived, and they were still there when I checked out 2 days later (so it wasn't just a one time accident, and it wasn't just one hair either - some woman somewhere is almost bald). The bathroom floors were also filthy looking, to the point that I made sure to put down towels to walk on.
Finally, the wireless Internet access was unreliable. Had to switch over to using a cell tether a couple of times. Also out of character for a modern hotel.
I do want to say it wasn't all bad. The inside and out (other than my room) was clean and well maintained, and everyone was very friendly. But the bathroom...
Schizophrenic is the right description. What's good is very good, and what's bad is pretty bad.
