Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by bluecollardgal Very friendly Staff - Everyone always has smiles on their faces :)
I come to The QC to work through out the week but go home on weekends. I choose The Holiday Inn Rock Island because of the staff and restaurant. All staff have always greeted me w/ a smile and a "Hello" every time I walk through the doors or walk past a staff member. I love the convince of the restaurant being inside the hotel. The rooms are very clean and remolded nicely. If ever there is any sort of hiccup (as all places occasionally have them) the staff is very responsive to my needs. The staff are very genuine to me and have gone out of their way for me. With all the hotel choices to make in the area - I love my home away from home @ The Holiday Inn Rock Island.

Nice property. Bed was comfortable; staff was friendly; room and grounds were clean.
There's a Benningans Restaurant on the bottom floor. We ate dinner there and had a few drinks. Nice place.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brower51 Super friendly people!
I'm a native Michigander with heritage in western Illinois. Whenever we came over to visit relatives, it never ceased to amaze me how much more friendly and helpful the people in western Illinois are as compared to where I'm from. The Rock Island Holiday Inn is no exception. When you walk in they treat you like family; like you belong. It's not just one person, it's the whole town. The drivers on the Loop transit system took us under their wing and made sure we got to where we wanted to go. They didn't start the bus moving until they'd answered our questions and we were settled in. We were heading across the river to a Craig Ferguson concert and admittedly a bit nervous about how to get there. The front desk personnel took the time to help us with the map and where to catch the bus. The bus drivers bent over backwards to make sure we got to where we needed to go. The entire time we were in Rock Island these people made us feel like we were relation. I can't say enough good things about this hotel and about the people in this city. One thing that was really odd, however, was our experience at Bennigan's. When we returned from the concert we decided to head over there for a drink. It was 11:15pm. The sign on the door said they were open until 12:00 am so we walked in. There was nobody there, but the lights were all on. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes waiting. And waiting. My girl friend started yelling "Hello??!!" She did that numerous times with no response. Finally I got up and wandered back to the kitchen and found someone cleaning dishes. He said, "We closed at 11:00 pm, we always do." So we left. But it was really strange. In Michigan we lock our doors when we close. We have to. I guess in Rock Island they're so trusting they don't need to lock their doors after closing time.

I didn't know the hotel was this nice inside. I enjoyed the pool but it could have been bigger. The bed was slightly hard but otherwise the room was fine. I think the best part of this hotel is location.

This hotel provides me with the "home away from home" feel. I have been coming to this hotel for 4 years and the service is exceptional from the time you check in to check out. I want to throw a few kudos to Etta at Bennigans and Monique that manages the social hour. Both of them treat not only me, but everyone they interact with as a valued guest. Their friendliness and committment to making my stay brings me back everytime . Thanks again Holiday Inn Rock Island!!!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by aellio56 Room issues, front desk staff, and maintenance personnel
We stayed here recently for a wedding. We got to our room and the air conditioning didn't work, and maintenance was summoned. When we approached the front desk to discuss a new room, the front desk lady, who was working under the counter, did'n't bother to stand up to address our concerns, and due to noise around her, kept making us repeat ourselves. We tried to request a new room, in the late afternoon, we were told there were no more rooms, which I'm sure everyone hadn't checked in yet, and when I asked her that, she then said, oh, we've checked everybody in already, which I think meant they already made the keys and the check in folders, so she didn't want to do it again for us. She was very unprofessional and standoffish, not customer oriented. The maintenance people, who were very prompt and professional, fixed the problem. Then, the toilet wouldn't flush, but the same maintenance people came again, fixed it, and took the time the explain the situation, so very nice. We don appreciate the coupons to Bennigan's restaurant though, so nice touch.

The hotel is centrally located and convenient to Rock Island and the bridge to Davenport.
The amenities are good. The fitness center (Ultimate fitness) being co-located is excellent, area to meet for business, very good and the Bennigan's nearby is nice.
Parking is convenient and sufficient.

I was disappointed in the shortage of on sight parking. The location was downtown. There were many non-guests walking through the parking lot and waiting at a bus staging area across the street. It didn't feel secure.
We had a lot of trouble with the room keys. They wouldn't work in the elevator or the room door. They recoded them but we still had some trouble.
The room and the lobby were up to Holiday Inn standards.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mmmlar Excellent service and beautiful room
Maybe they have done updates on at least some of the rooms, because ours was modern and beautiful. We had exceptional service at the front desk. It was a great place to stay the night before the Quad Cities marathon, and if we had wanted to go out and barhop, there are lots of options right in the downtown Rock Island "district."

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by EAP702 Poor Breakfast
I had the worst experience with the service I received from the staff running your breakfast. The server appeared lazy and careless, food was served late without a tray and above all the food tasted terrible. I still paid the price listed on the menu despite the fact that I had a coupon. Even when I was ready to pay my bill, I stood there for more than 10 minutes before I was waited on. If I have to stay in that hotel I'll not eat there at all. Apart from that experience, my room and the front desk reception staffs were okay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by grb059 Good hotel but not great
I love that they are remodeling the rooms because they are nice now. The furnishings are modern and look nice, and I had a huge TV in my room. I also like all of the plug-ins, especially the ones by the bed. They even have USB hook-ups, which is wonderful. Free internet, which is necessary.
I felt the area was a little sketchy, and the adjoining parking lot is very small. They do allow you to park in the parking garage across the road, which has some police presence, which is good. You do have to walk right past the bus stop to and from the parking garage, which can be somewhat annoying.
They have Folgers coffee for your in-room coffee maker, which is okay, but not my favorite. The building is older, and the doors go from the ceiling to the floor and are very heavy. The room was a little tight in the hallway, and my hair dryer was coming off the wall in the bathroom.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mitkednok The worst Holiday Inn I've stayed in!
I'm a Platinum member,so I stay in a LOT of Holiday Inns & this is the worst. Let me list why:
Been " under renovation" for over a year and a half.
Toilets don't flush properly.
Poor water pressure.
Sinks don't drain.
I NEVER get an upgrade unless I make a big deal at check in.
Took two days to empty my trash.
Parking is absolutely horrible.

Looks to be in an area of urban renewal that is catching on quickly. Very close to a police station and there was a lot of police presence during the Saturday night nightlife. Seems like a fun area that is becoming trendy. Room was super clean and very comfortable.

The location of this hotel is perfect for my business needs in the Quad Cities. The updated rooms are really nice. I like the fact there are many outlets for my electronic business needs. Bennigans is a great place to eat. The reception on the early weekdays is nice as well as the discount coupons I receive as a Platinum member.
I am anxious for my next trip to Quad Cities.

Hotel was full, ended up in a smoking room... not nice for a non smoker. No free breakfast. The hotel has a small parking lot, but parking across the street is available. Is an older building, but has recent reno's which were nice.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by GrumpyDwarf Never will stay here again!!!
Bad parking situation. There was no parking in the lot. The parking garage across the street had some spots for overnight hotel guest. They were all full. Had to park two blocks away. It's fine on the weekend when you don't have to pay for street parking, if it was a weekday that would of been bad.
No pool or fitness room due to remodeling. Minor inconvenience and a bit disappointing. No continental breakfast. I did not know about that when I booked the hotel. I usually have that in my profile. When I asked about it I got a snide answer of: "We have a Bennigan's here so there would be no reason to offer a continental breakfast." Another disappointment but it was still fine since there were coffee shops across the street.
No recognition for IHG Rewards Club, was not greeted and given NO PERKS. All the other hotels in the chain offer a water bottle/beverage or treat bag or even a 'Thank you for being a rewards member or hotel guest'.
The hotel was booked with parties. There were multiple bachelor and bachlorette parties. Very loud all night, even past 3 A.M! The floor I was on had at least 5 rooms having a party. Loud noises, talking and slamming doors all night! At 2:30 A.M there were singing, drunk bridesmaids wondering the hallways and being loud. We were right between two parties and didn't know it until the middle of the night.
I went to the front desk, in person, for each matter at this hotel and every time got a snide answer for everything. I also asked for a late check out til 1 PM. The guy at the front desk said it was no problem and wrote my room number on a clipboard. The next day, I went to the desk to ask a question while my daughter slept in, and the lady at the desk asked 'are you ready to check out?' It was a half hour before the regular check out time. I told her not yet, and that I had asked for a late check out. She said: "Really because you are not on here for it." I told her I asked the desk clerk the night before, and he said it was fine and wrote it down. She then picks up a radio and over the radio states: "Houskeeping? I have a guest here in room # who claims she came downstairs last night and asked for late check out. So I am just letting you know that room # is not going to be available for another hour or so and I don't know how long they will be!" She didn't address me at all after that she just used a snotty tone on her radio saying that I "claimed" to have requested a late check out. That was the last straw with this hotel. I will never return to a place that was so nasty to their guests. Every time I spoke to the staff, I was polite and just wanted to inform them of the situation or let them know of a concern of mine. I felt punished for it every time! I am very easy going and understand that things happen and you just work with it. I would have appreciated it if they would have treated me nicer. I never yelled, got mad or nasty. I put up with obnoxious guests and still remained calm while mentioning the trouble to the staff. I did not deserve the way they talked to me. I just wanted to make the staff aware of the drunk people, their behavior, and the noise in the hallways. I also just wanted to find out why there were not any of the amenities that I expected. I didn't know that they were remodeling. I shouldn't of been treated like it was wrong to ask about it.
So, unless you like loud drunks and snide remarks from hotel staff, stay away from this hotel!
My last hotel stay was at another franchise because I was in Galena, IL for business and there wasn't an IHG hotel in the area of business. That hotel was far better priced, had great amenities, atmosphere, and service. I also joined a travel program with them where I received their hotel rooms for better price then IHG offers for their hotels. I could of stayed at another franchise in Moline, IL. I regret my choice to be loyal to IHG. I will NEVER again stay at an IHG hotel when I am in the Quad Cities. Next time, I will go to their competitor instead.

I booked my stay being myself and my 3 children ages 3 - 8 - 13....I used a majority of my points that I have been saving for the room. I booked this hotel because of its pool and location. No where did it indicate nor was I told the pool had been and would remain out of service. After driving 250-300miles with my kids all worked up to get out and go to the pool at check in was informed that the pool was out of service. the best they could do was to send us to a public pool at my expense only to get there and it too was closed because school had started, now with 3 'upset' kids Im trying to find someway to keep them busy and in hopes at the start of August a pool of somesort. The front desk then referred us to the park down the road with a 'wading pool'....it was not a wading pool it was a water 'display' where it shoots out of the ground, something that my 8 and 13year old really could care less about and my 3 year old was somewhat not impressed. Then when we tried to skype home, the entire time of our stay the free wireless wouldn't work no matter what we did. All I got for all the inconviences was 1000 of my points back which wasnt anything near what i spent and a free bkfst for myself. I still had to buy my oldest sons bkfst and what was free was more for my 3 year old than my 8 year old, we left and i had to stop and get bkfst for everyone. The mere 1000 points was more like a slap in the face and seemed like an inconvience to the hotel rather than everything myself and family went thru.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Eric5 Great staff but below average condition of rooms
I travel over 75 nights per year an the staff at this hotel is among the best. However, the quality of the rooms would prevent me from staying here again. The bathroom toilet was loose and leaking on the floor. The tile was cracked and lifting up from the floor and off of the wall. The shower head was very low as compared to other Holiday Inn properties. I did talk wtih the front desk staff and they offered to move me, but being later at night when I checked in, all I wanted to do was grab some dinner and get to sleep.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Savon SLAMMING DOORS
Overall our stay was great. However, we were suppose to have the upper floor of the hotel, but, when we checked in they had given up 3rd floor. I didn't bother to ask why we didn't have the floor we were promised, as I knew it was a busy weekend for the hotel. The room would have been fine with the exception, we were around the corner from the elevator AND we had people opening and slamming the door next to us every minute or so! Finally, we called to complain and we heard the staff knock on their door and the slamming ceased. However, the next night was the same thing except down the hall! Imagine, if we could hear it, what the poor hotel guests were experiencing!
Also, the refrigerator froze our bottles of water! Good thing we did not have food in there. Also, we had to ask for toilet paper (only a part of a roll in room# and wash cloths #only 1 in room# and hand towels #2 in room).
Normally, we have a relaxing and enjoyable stay at this hotel, not, so much this time.
Front desk people were pleasant and helpful as always.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Andy5226 First room was terrible
When I went to my room, I noticed a bad odor of perspiration. I was really tired from traveling all day and wanted to sleep. I turned the AC up, hoping that would help. Arter a few minutes, the odor was more than I could deal with so I packed up my stuff and went to reception for a different room. I was upgraded to a suite, but it seemed I could still smell that room. I guess whatever that smell was, it had attached itself to my clothes or something. Anyway, that room pretty much ruined my stay at that hotel.
