Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, great location..will stay again We arrived late into the night however, check in was enjoyable, front desk staff was pleasant and engaged in conversation about reason for visit. Provided us with information about the area and near by college ASU. Rooms were clean, pool area well maintained. 1 negative, not so bad although the breakfast was good, my little one was expecting on day 2 to have something different i.e. instead of sausage both days, switch it up to bacon or ham. At other holiday inn express each day a different meat was provided. Overall stay was great and we already have another reservation to stay again. July 17, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Renter Beware Room was not standard HIE quality. The hotel is obviously very old, but old doesn't have to mean dirty. Carpet was worn and tattered in addition to being dirty, hair in shower and bathroom from previous guests, chair in room was filthy...appeared someone had an accident on the seat and was totally disgusting. There was a piece of metal sticking out from under the bed that was very dangerous. Housekeeping woke us up beating on our door at 8:30 am the morning of check-out and we told her it would be a while. She then stated she had the wrong room. I made staff aware of problems with the room and was told the manager would call me back to discuss. It has been a week and I still have not heard from anyone. We are HIE reward members and were not offered as much as a bottle of water at check-in. Not a typical HIE experience....this hotel needs a lot of TLC and customer service training. July 12, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Some issues Bathroom was cover with light layer of sawdust or powder. Did not realize until taking shower. Did not report as it was 11PM. Also door for bathroom was extremely large had to back into shower to close door. Staff was great . July 4, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average stay, use to be better We always stay at this Holiday Inn Express when we are traveling through the area,, usually 3 times a year. I was very disappointed in the room and the overall hotel cleanliness. The room was not equipped with the essential restroom and bedding peices and had to call the front desk to get them. They asked if I could come down and pick them up! The pool was not clean and was actually closed when we returned a week later. The pool was one of the reasons we stay because of the children in the group. I was very disappointed in the way the hotel had let things get to the point that made our stay ,, not very enjoyable. We promised my grandson we would stay where there was a pool. At check in we found out the pool was closed. We were offered no assistance until after we searched for another HI in close proximity and found no availability. We had no choice but to stay here. I was told to discuss it with a manager the next morning but we left early. I know now that when you expect am amenity such as a pool to verify a day before. I will stay here again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall great experience I had to find a location with short notice for an overnight stay. This location was in the best location, the bed was very comfortable and my stay was restful. I got to the hotel late evening but the staff was alert and helpful, check in was a snap. My online reservation was found quickly and the room was what I reserved. We were able to eat breakfast although we had to leave early, the timeframe for breakfast was appropriate. The facial tissue was out but a quick call brought a replacement. I like showers and what a great massaging shower head. It also aided in relaxing me to prepare for a tenseful next day. I recommend this property and I plan to return for a longer stay. June 11, 2013

She went over and beyond to not only get me a great rate, she helped me sort out the different needs for different family members and allowed me to make late changes about arrival dates and worked with me when other issues arose. Once I got to the hotel myself, Cortney greeted me at the desk and brought the luggage cart out to my vehicle to bring everything in. But the friendliness didn't end there,from the front desk to those who prepared breakfast, to those who cleaned the room.. everyone went out of the way to meet every need that anyone in our group had. Special diet, no problem, Special room needs, no problem, When the washer quit working, they offered to do my laundry for me. When everything was over, we all got a friendly farewell and new friends were made. STAY HERE, you will not regret it. June 10, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not exceptional but not bad for a good nights' rest It may seem like a trivial matter, but as one who travels extensively and is a Platinum member, it would seem fitting that I would be recognized as a Platinum member. I was not recognized as one at this property, and I did not receive any complimentary items. The breakfast was satisfactory, but overall the quality of food, and food choices at HI properties is in decline. This property was no different. The staff was very friendly (except for the matter above) and tended to our needs in a timely manner. I was traveling with my family, including 5-month old grandson, and we were able to rest. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointment for Priority Club Member I travel frequently with business and always try to stay in a Holiday Inn Express. I have stayed at this hotel on two separate occassions. Each time I stayed here I was not welcomed as a Platinum Priority Club Member and was not offered even a bottle of water. Furthermore, I made my reservation on line for a King Room and was put in a double room. When I mentioned it to the Manager on duty, he just sort of shrugged and said that it was how the reservation came through to them. Even after I shared my confirmation email that stated that I had reserved a King he said that he knew it but that is not what they got on their end. He made no offer to switch my room for me. The hair dryer in the room only blew cold air. It wasn't awful but was not the quality that I expect as a Platinum Priority Club Member. May 13, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent visit We usually stay at the HIE in Opelika as it is closer to the destination we visit frequently. However, that hotel was full so we stayed at this location instead. WOW, what a difference! The beds at this location were much better than most. Even with several high school sports teams in the hotel we weren't bothered by them. We were graciously welcomed even though it was 9:30 when we arrived (other locations aren't as welcoming at this time of night). The front desk attendant had our key cards waiting for us and offered us a drink to take with us to our room. I hate that I forgot her name but she would make the visit by herself. One disappointing thing was that I did request for extra pillows when I made the reservation but we did not receive them in our room. Of course, this is minor but as a Platinum Elite member with a reservation made a week in advance, I would have thought this request would have been met. Overall, a great experience. Very accomodating about early check-in (1 hour early); I asked about this when I arrived 2 hours early, and they said they could get a room ready for me in about an hour (i.e. 1 hour early).
