Staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Monticello was the right spot for me on a recent trip.
Others may brag, but these folks delivered. A quiet, clean room and bathroom. Comfort.
And they were glad to see me, even for just one night.
I'll be back,.....

I had to stay in a handicapped room to make sure I got a king size bed even though I am not handicapped. This made some things in the room inconvient for me. Overall the room was comfortable and I had a nice stay, HOWEVER the shower head was broken and I let the staff know my first night but at no time was the offer made to try to fix it. I was regulated to hold the shower head up with one hand the whole time I showered each night. The only other problem I had with my stay was that the breakfast didn't have the options or the quality as most Holiday Inn Express locations that I frequent. I have decided to stay at this location again in the near future and am totally open minded and hopeful that this next stay will be better!
Oh...one more thing I am a Gold IHG rewards club member but was not recognized as such when I checked in and was not treated to anything special during my stay. Little perks vary from location to location at being a Gold member so I can't say what this location does since I was not even welcomed as one once I checked in and even reminded the desk clerk by asking if my rewards number came through on my reservation.....

Went to Monticello on short notice to help with some volunteer work.
Room was very nice and comfortable and staff was very helpful!
Breakfast was good and staff there was very helpful also. We got to breakfast a little early on Saturday morning (about 15 mins or so) along with some other guest staying at the hotel and staff went ahead and made sure we had anything we wanted! Also , I thought I would need a late checkout, and when I ask about it, the young man at front desk told me as a Platinum Member I could check out anytime I liked! I ended up not needing too, but it was nice to have the option!

Really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff was very courteous and we were told several times that if there was anything we needed or if they could help in any way to please let them know.
Loved their breakfast room. We were there for a baseball tournament and were 12 hours from home. Not only did we enjoy the breakfast there, but they allowed our team to bring in lunch and eat it there.
So thankful to have such great service so far from home. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I'm ever back in Monticello!!

I've been staying here a lot because of work. Place is getting dirtier - the toilet in my room was dirty, someone else's hair in the bathtub; no conditioner, only shampoo and lotion; floor didn't look swept. Breakfast choices are getting poorer-lukewarm coffee at breakfast time, when asked about some fresh coffee the kitchen staff (young black lady) was very rude, at 8 am no more hard boiled eggs, the 'scrambled eggs" watery, no English muffins or good choice of bread, no bacon the 3 days I was there. It's getting to the point that I am considering staying in Hampton Inn across the street next time I am in town. Hope they improve ASAP

We recently experienced a 4 night stay at this hotel. We were impressed with the overall facility and its upkeep. The grounds were very well-kept and inviting.
My biggest concern was the staff. They were not very welcoming from the beginning of our stay; couldn't figure out the computer system; and many, many times the front desk was unattended for long periods of time. We waited several times to have our questions answered or issues addressed. Rarely did we see a smile or receive a welcoming statement.
The last morning of our stay there was no milk for breakfast and many of the items were not available, despite the fact that we were eating early. When mentioning this to the front desk, I was told "we got wiped out this weekend". Really?? If you knew you were at capacity, wouldn't you have planned for that? There is a Wal-Mart less than a block away. Send somebody over for a gallon of milk. It was not unusual for many breakfast items to be depleted daily, even with an hour left during breakfast hours.
The pool area was lovely and maintained well. Our biggest disappointment was the lack of pool towels. There were NEVER any out and available for our use. When asking at the front desk, the response was, "we just don't have enough". Well, you have a washing machine... go run a load.... then, at one point, they were handing out bathmats, instead. There were never more than 10 people in the pool area, so I'm not sure what made that so difficult.
In conclusion, really the hotel itself was lovely and the facilities were very well-maintained. Somebody is doing something right. If the rest of the staff stepped up and took care of the guests the same way they would be marvelous. Seems to me that a little bit of training would be in order, with regards to customer care. I would return to the property and give them another chance, if I have the opportunity. If the direct guest experience is the same, it would be my last time. I would head across the street to a different hotel.

This hotel has nice decor. The breakfast area is very nice with alot of room. There were plenty of choices on the breakfast bar. The room was suprisingly large with plenty of room for luggage, and to spread out. The pool area was very nice, with a grill, and charcoal available for use.

Everything about this inn is top drawer. Great checking staff, breakkfast, and room. Plenty of pillows as well. The hamburger joint, not affiliated with the hotel, is as bad as it gets. Plenty of other good spots though.

A very clean, new hotel. Probably the best you're going to find in the area. I had a bit of an issue getting a receipt sent to me though, but that's no big deal.
The only thing that bothered me was one employee that works when I was checking in. As I was checking in I had a little bit of a discrepancy with my rate, and he seemed pretty rude about fixing it.
He also looked over my receipt with when asking what company I was with, and looked at my logo on my shirt and noticed the company I'm staying under and the company on my shirt dont match. He asked twice, almost like he was trying to catch me in a lie, again in a very rude manner.
I'm a contractor, I don't work for the company I'm staying under. But that company is paying the bill, that company is who I turn my receipts in to. And that company does ask that they see their rate on any receipts that they get.
Just my check in wasn't great, the rest of the staff has been excellent.

This site has a very friendly staff who is will to go out of thier way to help. I was waiting on a package to be delivered on a Saturday and the man working the desk offered to Phone me the minute the package arrived. I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn to anyone traveling in this area.

The people that work at the Holiday Inn Express are excellent..especially Bay in the breakfast area..she is always helpful and makes sure you have everything you need...very attentive and has a great attitude..a smile and a warm "Hello" every morning..the front desk people are also helpful and want to make sure that you stay is satisfactory...A great hotel to spend some time at...

I have been staying here for the last 13 years and have enjoyed everyone of my stays. The staff has always worked with me to make sure everything was correct and that I got the best value I could get. Now the time has come to tell all of them thank you again for I will no longer be coming to Monticello, It has been enjoyable and fun

This was one of the best HI Express units we have stayed in. The rooms were clean and fresh with no off odors. Temperature control was very good and the beds very comfortable. A great place to stay in a small town.

Be prepared to wake up between 7:30 and 8 on Sunday--the housekeepers seem intent on waking guests up with slamming doors and loud talking. Also, the breakfast on Sunday morning ends at 10, but when we got there at 9 there was little breakfast there and the custodian was more focused on closing up than restocking. Also, be aware of spoiled milk.

No coffee in the afternoon, Pool was closed in 80 plus degree temps, its the south after all.
Breakfast was terrible worst I have ever had at any HIE, Service at breakfast area was nasty, When asked a question was barked at and told what we have is what you get.
Ladys at desk were friendly everyone else acted like they didnt even want us there like we were bothering them.

The staff was very friendly and courteous. When I checked in the young lady at the front desk made my day with the execellent way that she checked me in and made me feel as if I had known her all of my lady. She recognized me as a Priority Club Member and gave me a lovely token of appreciation to let me know that she valued me as a Priority Club Member.. Each day I was greeted by my name by this young lady. This made me feel very special and welcomed. I will stay at this hotel each time I come to Monticello for business or pleasure. The money that I paid to stay at this hotel was worth this price and more. My room was excellent!! My bed was so comfortable that I could have stayed in it all day and probably would have if I didn't have a training to go to. I just loved everything about this hotel the parking lot, the lobby, the staff (especially the young lady at the front desk), and most definitely my room. Thank you all for such a wonderful stay and you can be assure that I will recommend this hotel to all my friends and co-workers and I hope they get the young lady who checked me in because if they do this will be their hotel forever as it is certainly mine.!! This was simply the best Holiday Inn Express experience I have ever had. Thank you all for a wonderful stay. Looking forward to staying there again soon!!

The jacuzzi tub was icing on the cake during my last stay and just added to my love of this hotel and the staff.
