My wife and I booked 2 rooms for our daughter, 3 granddaughters,2 little doggies and us. The front desk was especially friendly even though very busy. The rooms were very comfortable; kids and I loved the wifi; kids enjoyed the pool and the adults enjoyed the great showers. breakfast was all we could have wanted. This was a convenient stop on our way to the coast. I presume we will come back next year. June 22, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding in every way We spent 5 days in Mt. Airy. Due to the pleasant experience we had at Holiday Inn Express in Mt Airy we made reservations at IHE all the way home. Spent 3 days on the road coming home. Being a diabetic it was wonderful to find food on the breakfast bar that I could eat. What a treat! The front desk help (esp. Shirley and Christina) helped us a lot. All of the front desk help was friendly and helpful. Way to go IHE.... keep up the good work. June 13, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Not enough time to enjoy this location Regretfully, we were only able to stay at this location for one night. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in the Mount Airy area. The desk staff was exceptionally nice, and we even got to meet the City Commissioner during preferred member hospitality time. The rooms were large and well appointed, and there were plenty of outlets for charging our electronics. Andy Griffith would be proud to have this HIE represent Mount Airy! :-) June 10, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Somewhat Surprised The HIE at mount Airy continues to be one of the overall nicest HIE properties that I have ever stayed at......but having said that you can imagine my surprise to find there were guests who had 4 FOUR dogs in their room,( actually a suite), on the second floor. Our group had reserved three rooms for the 8 people in our group that was travelling together, and as fate would have it, our rooms were also on the 2nd floor.. I can understand the "pet friendly" attitude of HIE, but I was under the impression that the "pet area" was to be contained in a specific area on the 1st floor. Bob K. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by disappointing While the room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful, the overall experience at this property was very poor. We had consistent problems in logging onto the internet and the connection would terminate without warning and then it may or may not allow you to log back on. The breakfast was ok at best; there was nothing fresh or special, but if all you wanted was cereal and coffee you were covered. We would not stay here again, we would try another brand in the area. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very clean room and great service. The first thing I look for is how clean the room and bathroom are. Both were very clean and comfortable. I love the breakfast bar. It had a hot bar, as well as the usual muffins, bagels, fruit and cereal. It had everything that we like to eat for breakfast, so needless to say, we ate breakfast at the hotel each morning. Staff was very friendly. If we are ever in this area again, we would like to stay here again. June 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by They were Booked, Room had many problems, but they made up for it. We found a pack of cigarettes under the bed with only 3 missing. Our bathtub was clogged. We hardly got any sleep the first night because of all the stress and the fact that the AC unit does not have an option to let the fan run if it isn't heating or cooling. We wanted this to drown out the noise of the early risers. They gave as another room for the rest of our stay and the tub wasn't clogged. They probably had no way of knowing that the last person in the room clogged the tub. We downloaded an app for our phone that generated a fan noise and we slept well for the remaining nights. The toilet in the second room really didn't flush correctly even though they insisted that it was just a water saving design. You had to hold the handle for at least 20 seconds or the flush wouldn't complete, but it didn't clog or anything. It was just annoying to have to hold the handle that long. They may have water saving devises installed in the toilets but they aren't supposed to work like that. Something was not right with the way it was set. I know better then that. However, they gave me 6000 Bonus points for all my problems and I got 1000 bonus points for watching a short video. So with these bonus points and a few more that I had already collected I was able to get a 25 dollar gift card for for about 9300 points. So all in all I think that they couldn't help the things that were most bothersome about the stay and that they made it up by giving bonus points. June 3, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by alone time getaway Holiday Inn Express was clean, but the bathroom tub would not drain of water so during a shower you would end up standing in 6-8 inches of water, no hot water in bathroom sink, and check in was slow due to poor communications between cleaning staff and front desk. HIE was very clean and in a great location, we have have got the one trouble room but you never know! June 2, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Peaceful and Pleasant Set far back off the main road. We had a very comfortable stay and would have stayed another night if we had more time. Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable. The noon time check out allowed us to relax before a 5 hour drive to our next stop before heading home. Breakfast was good and the only minor thing is we felt the breakfast room was a little small. We plan on coming back to Mayberry and will stay at this HIE again. May 28, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fun! Really enjoyed the perfect "Mayberry" experience. After driving the Blue Ridge Parkway we stayed at this property. I used the treadmill before dinner and the gym was perfect. Our room was large, great bed, very clean, quiet and the wine tasting before dinner was good wine from the area. I really slept well after a nice dinner and a movie on our big screen. Internet was fast enough, staff was charming and extremely helpful. I did not use the pool...wish I had brought a suit. The next morning there was plenty of hot water for a shower then an actually good breakfast with scrambled eggs, two meat servings, pancake, etc. The coffee was even good. One more treadmill walk and out we went ready for a great day. The best part was the southern charm of the manager, who made me feel welcome and comfortable.
