Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stay I really enjoyed staying at this Holiday Inn Express. It was a very clean & comfortable hotel. We travelled with our 9 month old baby and my mother in law. As my wife and I went to the Steelers game, my mother in law stayed with the baby. We tried calling the hotel several times during a 40 minute period and nobody at the front desk answered to connect us with our room. I hope this was an isolated incident. A recommendation for the hotel, some high chairs for babies in the breakfast area would be great. Aside from that, the staff was great and I would try this hotel again. September 26, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Switched us from doubles to singles without contact My three friends and I booked 2 double bed rooms with the hotel about 5 days in advance for the upcoming Steelers game (we live a couple hours away). Unfortunately we weren’t able to check in until after the night game, which ended up being about 1 o’clock in the morning. During the check-in, the hotel staffer helping us reads a note stating the hotel had overbooked the doubles and all they had left were two rooms with singular king sized beds. There were also no cots or suites to upgrade to. This was unfortunate for us as the only reason we stayed here was the promise of our own beds for the night. Worse was that it was already so late in the night that finding another hotel was not possible. The next morning, I talked with the manager upon checkout who was very friendly but admitted that she had changed our room from two doubles to the kings without asking us. Her excuse was that on the online website for booking can be confusing and that to her it stated there were two people checking in for the two double rooms. So she decided to give us the kings, not thinking there were four people coming. This was disconcerting to us as the hotel had our contact information and a simple phone call or email would have answered how many people were coming. They did give us $20 off each of our rooms for the mistake (roughly 15% discount). However, each of us would have gladly paid the extra $10 for our own beds. I’ll also say the room was fine and the hotel itself was nice. The complimentary breakfast was also fine. If I could give advice, I’d call early and make sure they don’t switch your room as they did to us and you’ll have a fine stay. September 26, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly folks I was just looking for a place to hang our hats after the show in Munhall, but was pleasantly surprised by our stay at the Holiday Inn Express. The room was spotless, and quite comfy, albeit a little small. The front desk people were the friendliest and most helpful I've ever encountered at a small hotel. The location was perfect, minutes away from the venue, and there are lots of dining choices in the area. The in house breakfast was a great final touch. I'll be back when there's another show at the Carnegie Music Hall. September 20, 2013

The only drawbacks were no swimming pool or whirlpool, and no fridges or microwaves in the room other than that I enjoyed my stay. September 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good price and location A relatively new Hoiday Inn Express. A good price for the area and the rooms are nicely appointed and beds comfortable. Located in the busy Waterfront Mall area so that is either a good thing if you like to access the shopping and things to do, or bad if you are looking for something a bit more secluded and in a quieter neighborhood. If you are also looking for extras like a swimming pool, whirlpool and a sauna - you will not find any of those here. They do have a rather small gym but that is about it besides the standard Express breakfast which was good. September 5, 2013

I then arrived at my room and it was very comfortable overall, but I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the room. I observed some of the housekeepers on my way back from breakfast and they were being very thorough in their cleaning of the room. I will definitely stay there again!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay We stayed here after a day of shopping and before going to Kennywood the next day. 5 minutes from Kennywood! The hotel was new, very clean and well appointed. Breakfast was great, good food, nice variety with healthy options. The front desk, housekeeping and breakfast staff were all very nice and friendly. The only thing we wanted would have been a bigger bed, we are normal size people with a king bed at home. The double bed was a bit snug, but comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay on the east side of the Burgh. September 4, 2013

We travel to Pittsburgh often and stay at this hotel which is convenient to not only PITT, but adjacent to many restaurants (Rock Bottom, Bravo, PF Changs), and anything else you may need (Macy's, Target, Giant Eagle Food, Best Buy, Lowes, etc#. This trip was different since our daughter was admitted to the hospital. After checking in and spending a night, we found out that our daughter would need to stay in the hospital for several days. However, all the hotels in the area were booked. Samantha was able to get us a room after a cancellation so we could be closer to the hospital and not have to travel to a remote hotel. She gave us platinum service #not even knowing that I am Platinum Elite at IHG Rewards Club). Rooms at this new hotel are quiet, beds are comfortable, and location is very convenient. Hotel had many selections for breakfast as part of hotel stay and clean. Able to take only the side roads to avoid traffic going into the university during back to school or for the summer. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff and Great Complimentary Breakfast Upon our early arrival to pick up our Kennywood tickets, we were greeted with an offer to get 'checked in early.' Keep in mind this was a busy Saturday morning at the end of summer and we arrived at the hotel at 10:00 AM. We were just planning to pick up our park tickets, but were surprised and delighted to be able to check into our room and not have to worry about our bags in our vehicle while it was parked for 12 hours at the amusement park. The following morning, we were impressed by the lovely, cooked, complimentary breakfast offered at the hotel. From freshly made pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, cinnamon rolls, etc. the breakfast was way more than we expected. The young lady who was handling the entire breakfast on her own on a morning that the hotel was completely booked, did a fabulous job of keeping everything full, the dining room clean and had a smile on her face. If we had the occasion to stay at the Waterfront again, we would definitely choose this location. Thank you for the warm and friendly hospitality. You more than exceeded our expectations!! It was a sad day for me but in all honesty, the staff and the manager made this bitter sweet day a whole lot better. Thanks guys. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room small The room was small and the beds were double instead of queen. No room for a second chair so we had to sit on the beds while watching TV. Front desk was helpful when TV initially didn't work. It Does take a Long Time to change channels, though! Nice to have a fridge in the room for restaurant leftovers. We wanted to play some of the board games available in the lobby but they were missing (most of the) pieces. Breakfast was OK - needed more fruit and oatmeal. Breakfast lady was very nice and efficient. Front desk was helpful and friendly. The only problem we had is the Very Bright parking light outside our window and some noisy guests next door on the first night of our stay. August 20, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, EXCELLENT location This location is perfect for anyone. Tons of shops and restaurants all within walking distance or a 2 minute drive. Hotel was clean and service was great. There was construction going on near the front entrance preventing entry and exit but I was politely directed toward the breakfast area door, no big deal. I did have an issue getting the TV to work but the front desk offered some advice to fix the problem and it worked. Satisfied stay and I will definitely stay here again! August 5, 2013

I work with US Steel, and this Holiday Inn Express is by far the best one I have stayed at when working in Pittsburgh. The rooms are always clean, and the front desk goes above and beyond. I always stop and see Renee in the morning before heading to work and always get asked about my day from Brock or Samantha when I return.
