Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfort and amenities in room The room was very comfortable. I was happy that there was a freezer/refrigerator available. I had items packed in a cooler which I was able to unload and put in the "frig". The tv was awesome - my favorite model, LG, as I own an LG tv and love it. Shower was great and adequate towels and wash cloths were there. The "bar type" sink and microwave was great and provided an area for me to place my non-refrigerator items which I had brought. I had a fun time talking with the Front Desk Agent - Barbara. She was awesome and we talked a lot. I was happy to know that the hotel provided passes to the Huntington Beach State Park, as that was my reason for being there - a family reunion at the park. July 1, 2015

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff Great Staff is the only true positive I can say regarding this location. Pool was FREEZING COLD. Breakfast was so-so and did not meet the standard I am use to in the other locations I routinely stay in. Location is obscure yet convenient to some good restaurants if willing to drive. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Construction Our first impression was the hotel was very worn down and needed a lot of updating. The ice machine on our floor was so loud that we could hear it day and night with our door closed. We were about 4 or 5 doors down from the ice machine. Second day, maids left a preprinted note between 10 a.m and 11 a.m that there would be no service that day, due to our sign on the door. I would have thought they would come back sometime in the afternoon. During 3 of the 4 nights we stayed, carpet was being laid from early in the morning ( around 8 a.m.) until late afternoon on the floor we were on. It was very loud and smelly. We were also disappointed that the exercise room only had one machine, but the day before we checked out, two more machines were delivered. We overheard several "meetings" between individual employees and we assumed new management about the employees responsibilities. I would have thought these would have been more private meetings. The breakfast lady was great. Almost had to wait for someone at the desk to appear every time we needed something. Staff , excluding the breakfast lady, was very unfriendly and never said good morning, or acknowledged us. It appears that the hotel is being updated and possibly new management will address employee moral. June 21, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exemplary Employees IHG's 3 best employees work at the Murrell's Inlet Holiday Inn Express & Suites. * Sky (Skyla) handles front desk responsibilities. I called the night before we were to arrive to ask a minor question. Sky handled my concern personably and professionally. When I checked in the next evening, she remembered me and asked whether she had answered my question to my satisfaction. * Ruth makes sure breakfast is ready on time, is well-stocked, and kept at the appropriate temperature. She is socially adept, greeting each person and continuing interaction at a level that makes each individual comfortable. She asks whether your guests need anything, how may she help them, does the food taste good, and she talks with them about whatever they bring up. * Barbara handles front desk responsibilities - quite well, actually. Circumstances were such that I witnessed a guest complaining to Barbara that the Murrell's Inlet H.I. suite was not the size she was accustomed to in Atlanta. The guest was being civil, but I felt she mostly wanted to complain (as opposed to receiving a solution to her complaint) AND she wanted to stay away from all the people in her suite for as long as she could. Barbara was exceptional in not taking it personally while being fully empathetic. Your guest seemed to feel satisfied with the attention she received from Barbara.
