Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A RUN-DOWN MESS My daughter is on a travel softball team, and we have stayed in Holiday Inn Express hotels across the country. So when she attended a Coastal Carolina softball camp, we chose the nearest Holiday Inn Express because of the good experiences we have had in the past. We arrived very late, after having traveled across the country. We unpacked quickly, then actually took in the condition of the room. In the bathroom, there was a thick black line of mold in the grout around the bathtub. The vanity sink was cracked and didn't have a stopper. Then we discovered that the TV was inoperable, and over half of the buttons on the phone as well as the cover plate were completely missing. We were offered another room, but it was 11:00 p.m. by that time, and we just couldn't think of repacking and moving. I told the staff I would talk to the manager in the morning. The next day the manager came up to see the room. She offered to move us, but refused to provide any compensation for the previous night. In fact, she told me that because I booked online, if I chose to go to another hotel she'd charge me for the entire three-night stay! Now, you'd think they would be embarrassed by the condition of the hotel--we were told numerous times that there was "new ownership" and "plans for renovation". But to knowingly rent out sub-standard rooms, then hide behind a technicality in the fine print of of the online agreement is reprehensible. Just a terrible place. January 21, 2016
