Would definitely make a return visit to this hotel as we had a most pleasant experience. Surprisingly exceeded our expectations.

When I had visited family in the past I I had stayed at the HI Toms River, but they left the company a couple of years ago. I picked this hotel based on the reviews I had read and recommendations from family members so I booked a IHG rewards night and IHG credit card free night to make up a two night stay.
As an IHG Platinum, the normal course of a check-in is a thank you for your loyalty, a gift bag, and occasionally a room upgrade. With this check-in the employee was more worried about how quickly they could get rid of me. Pretty much no words were said outside of here is the wifi password. I asked about my 2nd night reservation being combined with my 1st night and he said that can't happen at this location so he said I will have to checkout out of my room and come back later in the afternoon so I can check into a new room. As I stay about 100 nights in hotels, I thought this was ridiculous but it was late with 2 kids so I wasn't up for a fight then. In the end I had to waste 20 minutes in the morning to get this fixed.
At Holiday Inn Express, I can always expect a nice hot breakfast that has attentive attendants constantly refilling the stock. This was not the case at this location. I arrived in the breakfast area at 9:20am with 40 minutes until closing. I come to find no cinnamon buns, no fruit, the hot food in limited, limited breads, and the juice machine empty. I found a bagel to eat, but when I went to spread the cream cheese, it was left out unrefrigerated or in ice so it was warm and inedible. In the forty minutes sitting there reading the paper and my plain bagel, I did not see any employees restock the food or drinks. An employee showed up exactly at 10am to close up the area.
On the second day, there was more of a selection. The one disappointing thing was that the "fresh" cinnamon rolls that were put out as I was standing there were iced cold. They were probably cooked at 6am and sit around.
In all the HI Express locations I have stayed at this was the first time I was ever disappointed in the breakfast.
The room was nice and new, but the housekeeping was lacking. We found pieces of food under the nightstand and in the corner of the bed frames. The housekeepers could be yelling down the halls to each other in the morning which woke my children up. When we returned for the night, we had found they had taken our dirty towels but did not restock the towels or any of the hair products. That was another 10 minutes of my time wasted.
As an IHG Platinum, I was disappointed in my stay and will stay somewhere else next time I visit my family.

Great location for access to Ocean Grove. Clean, quiet and comfortable.
We always stay at Holiday Inn Express and they do not disappoint you.
