Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great landing place for 3 days in New Bern HIE makes my lodging choices very simple. Consistency is very good and definitely something I look for. HIE/New Bern did not disappoint. I have stayed here previously and was not disappointed this go around. My only suggestion is to make the sausage gravy a little thicker. Bottom line, keep it up. I'll be back August 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Helping Wounded Warriors The checking-in experience served to get me upset from the beginning, so my first impression was one of having to use control. I was required to sign and initial at least three pages of documents for each of the two rooms booked. If I had taken the time to actually read the "LEGAL-EASE" my three partners would have been upset. ( They wanted their keycards and did not want to stand in the lobby holding their luggage for 20 minutes.) The check-in clerk used a little too much "authority" for my liking. The USE or REQUIREMENT to use an "Electricity Card" is nothing short of RIDICULOUS. Ridiculous is the most overused word around, but I cannot come up with a more suitable word at this time. I have never had to spend this much time to check into a hotel that I can remember...especially one that I had already booked on-line. I felt liked I was being cased as a suspected criminal. PLEASE PUT A CHOICE OF 'WATER' in the vending machines. My partners and I tried to find some water, but the desk person said there wasn't any. There is just nothing refreshing about 'hotel tap water.' From now on, I will always ask when booking on-line about how much PAPER_WORK and many documents must I sign when checking-in upon my arrival. August 14, 2014

Room was clean and refreshed daily, I can not say enough how great the 9 days stay was .If you had to go out and find a place to eat front desk was a super help as far where to go . If in the area again I will stay again and again .Its been a long time that I have stayed at a hotel and had a relaxing stay . August 11, 2014

All of the staff, including Sharon at the front desk, were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The building and grounds were neat and well-maintained. The room was very clean and comfortable. BUT, if you want a wonderful stay at a great price the only place would be the Holiday Inn Express! The hotel looks brand new and smells fantastic (I was going to ask them what cleaning product they use, but forgot) The room was very clean and quiet. The bed was extemely comfortable and provided different pillow types for your comfort. The following morning I was treated to an incredible breakfast. With all the choices you can imagine at a local restaurant. I also want to point out that the maid staff there is top notch, they do a fantastic job and are very friendly. I arrived very late at the hotel and was greeted with all the southern hospitality I could imagine from a wonderful employee named Mike. Mike really took the time to explain EVERYTHING to me and was patient and professional. I work for a large hotel chain and always stay at a different hotel chain when traveling, just to check out the competition. Well, I can tell you every time I've stayed at a HIE, I have never been dissapointed!!! July 31, 2014
