Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The WORST IHG property I have ever stayed at. My first impressions of this property completely mislead me. As I've stayed in Holiday Inn Express properties from Bangkok to Baltimore, I've always been pleased with the consistency of my experience. This one however was a distant outlier, and I hope to never return. I have NEVER, at any IHG property, experienced a staff who have been so rude and who collectively put their needs above that of the staff. With the sole exception of the breakfast staff who were extremely courteous and welcoming, the rest of the staff need major attitude adjustments. First: When there's a "do not disturb" sign on my door, it doesn't mean wake me up and invite yourself in to service my room. And when I politely say go away, don't give me an excuse that it's 11am and I do not have a late check-out which I had agreed upon in advance with my Platinum membership, and for which I received ZERO recognition for. Second: When I leave a bag check at the front desk, don't let my bag go missing and say it's not your fault. Third: When I've been waiting ten minutes on the 4th floor with my baggage for an elevator, only to find out your staff have been holding the elevators elsewhere in the building, don't say "you should have taken the stairs." The only consolation in this whole mess is the hotel manager who was genuinely appalled by the behavior of her staff and endeavored to rectify the situation. NEVER again will I stay here. NEVER EVER! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hidden Affordable Gem Tucked away down a side street between 10th and 11th Avenue near to the Hudson River this was a good location if you are happy to walk, once you get your bearings as to where we were in Manhattan. Rooms were compact but adequate - we were on 9th floor, although the gap under the door allowed the noise of other guests on the corridor come into our room. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was again small but really as expected for New York, considering the price. Breakfast area was busy but food plentiful and enough choice to fill up for the day. The included buffet breakfast is unusual in my experience and saves a bit of time if you are on a tight schedule which tourists usually are. Staff are particularly attentive and Farrell in particular was very friendly and helpful. October 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 You get what you pay for. Given that I wanted at least three star in mid town Manhattan for less than 150GBP inc tax I knew corners would need to be cut somewhere. This was value for money on the whole although the breakfast (especially how crowded the area was) was poor. October 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location Great location (short walk to Broadway and Times Square.), VERY clean, attentive and courteous and attentive staff. Bathroom sink counter space very small but overall even though small, bathroom acceptable. Breakfast maybe not gourmet but a good variety of items. Would definitely return. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overall below expectations For the amount I paid for the room, I had much higher expectations. The neighborhood was poor, the room was tiny, there were no amenities beyond a free lousy breakfast and the staff was not top notch. I questioned my bill and why my credit card was charged in advance. The answer I received made sense but was not explained to me when I made my reservation and negotiated my rate. The pillows were very uncomfortable and the TV connection went out and there was no resolution. October 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Welcoming Staff and Great Location The Holiday Inn Express on 48th Street in NYC is a great place to stay in NYC for its location and staff. I stay at many IHG properties as a loyal Platinum Member. I choose this stop for the location mainly as I visit several times a year for business and seeing relatives. The rooms are small but very clean and efficient. The staff is welcoming and very attentive to the customer needs. I especially want to single out Farrel who was attendant on staff during our stay. Farrel was working in the breakfast room area. He was very professional, courteous and pleasant. As a frequent traveler I look for several things in a hotel…. Cleanliness, location, and courteous and helpful staff. This IHG property has them all. Congrats! October 20, 2014
