Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good room, except for 3 things The place is very convenient to the city. I got a room not facing the street so it was pretty quiet. There were some work being done on the lobby so it was kind of distracting, but it's definitely not part of my 3 quirks. 1. I wish they have their own gym. They do have one, but it's in atight space and open to outside members. So plan your workout well. 2. When another room uses the water, your water temperature gets affected. 3. The shower curtain ALWAYS has a musty smell. I thought it was just the first room I stayed at, a few weeks ago, But, the 2nd room has it too. You know when you laundry something but didn't dry it well enough? That's stinky. October 8, 2014

Gratis-Zeitung, Shuttleservice, Internet etc.). Trotz lauter Zimmer (die Fenster sind nicht mit europäischen vergleichbar) haben wir ausgezeichnet geschlafen. Außerdem sind die Zimmer recht geräumig. Das Rezeptionspersonal ist in Ordnung, wenngleich sich nicht alle vor Freundlichkeit überschlagen. Die Herren, die für das Gepäck bzw. etwaigen Shuttleservice etc. zuständig sind, sind wiederum ausgesprochen nett! October 1, 2014

Would you let me know who has created the posters of fully dressed people on the beach? I have seen these posters elsewhere, but can't remember the locations. it has a Gadby like theme with the way people used to visit the beach many years ago. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The most arrogant hotel staff From check in (where the girl was constantly on the phone with friends), to check out (where the guy completely ignored the queue and was calling his known guest), to the breakfast receptionist (texting on her phone) to the breakfast waiters (3 different waiters offering the buffet). Room size is good, bathrooms rather old, needs renovation Rooms located towards 57th St very noisy, poor isolation Restaurant not recommended, restaurant Morningstar at corner 9th Av/57th street offers a 10% discount for guest of Holiday Inn. The rooms where not the best but it was very good for the price. Unfortunately this last stay was terrible. First the prices were super HIGH !!!! the reason given to me was that they have remodeled the rooms.I got to my room and I realized they only changed the head boards and the TV !!! That is it, Everything else was the same. First night I was given a room right next to the elevator, so I could not sleep as I could hear everyone going in and out of the elevator. Second night I asked for a room change, I had to go down to the lobby 5 times to get a new room. That night I was watching TV, when suddenly I saw a big RAT running across the room !!!!! I was SHOCKED and I called the Hotel people immediately. They changed the room for me and apologized. I wanted to check out and go to a different hotel but they would not refund my money. SO I was stuck in this hotel. I asked one of the workers if this has happened before and his answer was..... I cannot say that it has not !!!!!!! I am not staying there ever again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Terrible experience. I know NYC has lots of rats.... but I did not expect to see one in my room !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! September 23, 2014

The room itself was also big, which is unusual for NYC. In many NYC hotels, the lobby is small and the rooms are small, but this hotel has "normal" sized rooms, comparable to rooms you would find anywhere. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Yes, the elevator gets crowded during certain times of the day and you have to wait a few more minutes to be able to get on it, but not a big issue. We were in New York for fashion week. The hotel is very close to Lincoln Center where most fashion shows happen; very short walk from the hotel. It couldn't be more convenient for us. Also, plenty of places to eat around. Large room, nice desk (we had to do some work on the computer while we were there), room furniture looked brand new, great TV and channels, fast and efficient room service (we ordered food several times and asked for extra hangers), air-conditioning unit in the room worked with no problem (it was very hot in New York). We'll definitely stay again at this hotel. and we highly recommend it. September 16, 2014

Good for business or leisure and particularly well located for sightseeing. Close to central park and walking distance to Broadway and times square. After driving all the way from Michigan, I was unable to bring my $10k bicycle into my room as I have all around the world. Was told I would have to put it into a luggage room and accept any risks. Was told by the desk manager that it was a safety issue on the elevator but then also told I could not take it up the stairs. Also discovered that there was no room safe even though the website states that every room has a safe... had to worry about my laptop and had to find someone in the city to hold onto and lock my bike up. Wi-fi in Tower A was horrible...if you're booking tickets/trips or researching anything on an ipad, etc - you will be horribly frustrated. The sheets and pillows were very "noisy" - sounds strange, but with every move or turn in the bed was loud - enough for us to comment during our stay. In the 90's and humid during our stay - not the best air conditioner in the world. Other than those picky things - enjoyed our stay September 10, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location but Falls short This hotel is very close to getting an "excellent" review from me. However it fails in so many small, annoying ways. First the good…it is in a great location, right by Central Park and the subway, easily walkable everywhere. It has great amenities: gym, rooftop pool, spacious, clean rooms, etc. for a great price. Now for the aforementioned annoyances: The elevators are extremely slow and usually appear not to be working at all. You can wait ten minutes for an elevator in the mornings. The wifi did not work in our room; it also didn't work on a previous stay in the other tower so I am assuming it never works….this was evidenced by the number of guests in the lobby using the wifi….where it does work. Our toilet did not flush without a lot of effort, i.e. you had to stand and hold it up or down until everything went down. The hairdryer did not work. The complimentary coffee is not even drinkable. Seriously Holiday Inn, this is an easy one. Just source a different brand….taste it first ! And I am really not that fussy about coffee. When I checked out and mentioned the deficiencies, the desk clerk gave me a 10% discount without any discussion. So I am assuming this is a recurring theme at this hotel. Fix the quality issues Holiday Inn and I will come back. September 10, 2014
