Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Recent Stay We booked 2 rooms one king and one with 2 queens. Rooms were of expected size for NYC, not very large, but not the smallest rooms I have been given in NYC. Staff was very courteous and attentive. Allowed us to check in early and keep bags in one room until the other was ready. They were able to give us rooms o same floor, which was convenient. The items provided for breakfast were better than expected, however, being close to the holidays the buffet was very crowded and there were no open tables so we ended up eating in our rooms. Again, basically as expected the weekend before Christmas in NYC, but still not ideal. Overall a decent stay and convenient for our show at MSG on Sunday. December 25, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exceed my expectation This hotel exceeds my expectation. This was our first time in NY and stay with this hotel. The price is so good that I did not expect much about the service. But I was wrong. From check-in to check out, all the staff was very helpful. The door man helped me quickly to get the luggage cart. I had trouble with the A/C, made a call , and the maintenance guy showed up in 10 minutes. I asked for some bath towels. And got them in about 10 minutes too! The breakfast is not bad. And the restaurant is very clean and open 24/7 with hot water, hot coffee, tea. You can bring your own food and eat them there. The location is excellent for us: not too close, not too far. You can walk to Penn Station or take local subway. My family stayed on 8th floor and all had good sleep. They also made my check-out much easier with the express check-out bill slipped through the room early on the departure day. I just needed to review that bill, all looked good, left the keys in the room and departed! The hotel desk also called me the day before departure and offered me a compliment of late check out at 2PM as a member of IHG Rewards Club! I do have 2 things to suggest for improvement: - There was a temporary $50 charge in addition to your remaining balance at check-in. This is for accident insurance. The policy doest not mention about this temporary hold. So I had to talk to the front desk and found out about it. There was another guest asking the same question. We were all confused. It is OK to charge that extra to hold for incident, but the booking system should have stated so. - The parking in front of the hotel was supposed for quick parking to load/unload luggage for guests coming and leaving. However, when I came all the spaces were occupied. Some of them were construction vans. Some of them even had nobody sit in there and seemed had been parked for a while. I had to park in the middle of the street to unload the luggage. The hotel should have enforced the parking rules there, to make things easier and less stressful for guests coming and leaving. In general, I will definitely recommend my friends and relatives to stay here for NY trip. December 24, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Bad Experience My stay was overshadowed by unauthorised charges on my card by the hotel. The first charge left me with no money for 5 days while waiting for the hotel and bank to release the money back to me. After sorting that out the manager called me to advise they would be finalising my bill and charge my card a certain amount which they did, then after checking out 2 days later another charge of $300 was added to my card. I was told that they previously miscalculated how much they should have charged, so without calling me or emailing me to advise they were going to debit more money they went ahead and did it without the appropriate authorisation. Bad communication. I definitely would never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone, it's not worth the hassle, wasting holiday time chasing up money the hotel feels the need to take without talking to guests first. Definitely not to the same standard of other Holiday Inn hotels I have stayed in and was expecting December 23, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great NY City experience We stayed at the Madison Square Garden Holiday Inn during our winter visit to NYC. It's proximity to Penn Station provided easy access to these Amtrak fans. The staff was fantastic. Everyone we encountered was pleasant, eager to please, and helpful in any way. With reasonable rates and value added services (free breakfast, free wifi, etc) the visit was a bargain. We will make this our NYC home on future visits. December 19, 2014
