Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to par Was looking forward to this stay, thought I read it was newly renovated. The only positive is the 3-4 minute walk to Penn station, which is why I chose the hotel. Zero recognition for being Spire Elite at check in. Normally get a verbal acknowledgement and an offer of a few points or an amenity (which is usually a granola bar and a water, and I take the points). No recognition - not even a word. Got a room on the 5th floor out of 15. The room is the smallest I've ever seen. My mother, who has no status, got a bigger room on the7th floor. The room is so small that when opening the door, it struck the little stool they give you to place your luggage -- the door could not be opened completely to 90 degrees. The room had the common in-window heaters that leak outside air into the room when not operating, so there was a constant February breeze into the room. The breakfast area is catastrophically overcrowded. February 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, good room, poor treadmills I have stayed at this holiday inn express several times over the past 3 years. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, breakfast is included, 24 hr coffee and tea are a great plus. This is the first visit where I have been able to fit in a run using the treadmills in the fitness center. Both treadmills need to be replaced, they look like they are very old, they are very loud, the right one powered off during my run. This was frustrating and a big disappointment. The were no cups for water, and the wipes to clean the equipment were empty. Overall the hotel is great for the price, the fitness center is not. February 6, 2016

The exceptional service team always make sure that you have what you need in a timely manner. Check in was a zip and the attendant was kind, courteous and went out of her way to make sure my stay was the best it could be. The location is great for any event at Madison Square Garden. Excellent breakfast choices; open until 10am. Recommend not breaking down breakfast bar until 10:15am to allow late guests a few extra minutes to eat. Unable to get hard copy receipt at check-out; able to download receipt from Priority Club account. February 3, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another excellent stay here Convenient to the trains and LIRR and food areas, the staff is very helpful, especially when I arrive too early; they try to get me checked in as soon as able, as well as trying to meet my other requests as quickly as possible (and they do).
