Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Love the convenient Location I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Madison Square Garden. Being close to Penn Station and an easy walk to Times Square was wonderful and the rooms were surprisingly well appointed and comfortable, given the NYC location where I expect rooms to barely fit a bed and chair. I was given an option to pay extra for an upper floor room and would not advise that - the building is 15 stories high and the surrounding buildings are taller so the extra I paid for upper level rooms did not provide the view that I hoped I would get. The staff was friendly and helpful to a person. The breakfast room was too crowded both the mornings I was there so we went out for breakfast. May 1, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location, reasonably priced, clean, efficient, quiet, pleasant This hotel is located in an extremely convenient spot: 2 ½ blocks from Penn Station and 5 blocks from Herald Square at Broadway and 34th St. If you travel by subway in New York—as most people do—these two points give you access to nearly every subway line in the city within easy walking distance of the hotel. From Penn Station you can also easily get Amtrak trains going north and south, PATH trains to New Jersey, and the Long Island Railroad, which will take you to or from JFK airport quickly and inexpensively. Guests at the hotel are about 20% on business and 80% tourists, mostly from Europe and the U.S. It is a fairly typical Holiday Inn Express. Since it is NYC, the rooms are not very big, but they are generally quiet, and the hot water in the bathrooms is very reliable. The two elevators can become a bit crowded in the morning and evening hours. The breakfast buffet is generous but absolutely packed between 7:30 and 8:30. If the weather is warm, you can take your breakfast outside on the patio. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Wireless internet service is reliable, and TV has a good selection of channels. Beginning in spring 2015, there is a large construction project on the property that is adjacent to the west side of the hotel. If possible, request a room that is east of the central elevators. I have stayed in this hotel on about six occasions in 2014 and 2015. It is my go-to hotel when visiting NYC: clean, efficient, quiet, and pleasant. April 29, 2015

The staff here is extremely professional, courteous and accommodating. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. I would, and have, recommended this hotel to my colleagues and friends.
