My wife and I arrived early and was greeted right away by hotel staff was overly friendly and accomodating to store our luggage until room was ready. We enjoyed a great afternoon in the city and checked in early evening. Front desk person was absolutely tremendous, he was caring and we felt welcomed! Room was very clean and comfortable. Only unpleasant part of stay was breakfast in the morning. Food was good but the breakfast area needed to be double the size in order to handle all the guests it had when we were trying to eat. Very crowded and choatic. I had to eat in the lobby due to no available seating. Hotel is located in nice area, close to subway, shopping and great restaurants. We plan to return to NYC and will definately stay at this location again. Thank you for HIE staff for making this nice getaway! October 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast The breakfast was not only ethically questionable ( throw away culture) it was not healthy and not good at all. I would be much better if you just had less choice but better quality. For example freshly squeezed orange juice, good bread, butter, cheese, ham vegetables and fruits. There was just sugar over all( it wasn´t even sugar it was corn syrup ) I am sure if you would just have reusable cups and plates you would have more money to spend on the food. The team was nice, the rooms where clean and nice and location was great. Please just do something about the breakfast. October 24, 2013

The hotel is in a great location and though all the staff provide really good, efficient and friendly service, it almost does not make up for the negatives at this hotel. The rooms are too small and you have very little space for any of your belongings. The bathroom is also too small. The lifts become a huge problem with long waits to get from higher floors, and we always had to wait too long and other people complained of waiting 20 minutes or more in the morning. The breakfast selection was fairly extensive, but the breakfast room is far too small for the number of people trying to have breakfast. It is like the worst cheap cafeteria with tables and chairs jammed in, cheap plastic cutlery and paper plates, etc. The wait staff though provide really good service. I would not recommend this hotel except for its location. October 23, 2013

Breakfast room staff, cleaning staff, bellman and concierge very helpful. Good pub close by with very friendly staff and a 10% discount for hotel guests helped. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Customer Service I had difficulties with updating reservations to the hotel, not only at the Holiday in 800 number but also at the hotel. I tried updated 2 weeks prior to stay. I also made my reservations 8 months in advance. The price was over-priced compared to other hotels. I reserved 9 rooms for 5-6 nights and had stayed here 2 years ago and had an okay experience. During the stay, one the staff gave another guest (not someone in our reservation) a key to our room. When the guest showed up there was an Asian man sleeping her her bed. So, the staff did not check the identification of some other person and gave him a key to our room. Another guest had difficulties when checking out. I don't even want to get into the details, but needless to say the front desk was less than accommodating their needs and they ended up staying next door and it was cheaper to stay there. Even though we are in New York it would be my suggestion to work on the interactions with the front desk and guests. My company comes to New York 3-4 times a year and book 6-9 rooms. Needless to say, even though I like the location, we will be looking for another place to stay after this experience. October 22, 2013

Felt safe walking these routes -- lots of other people around. The hotel concierge was invaluable and the rest of the staff very friendly. I'd stay again without a second thought about it. Within walking distance of Times Square and easy to get a cab to other destinations. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was exactly what we needed to start the day....nothing gourmet but it worked for us. We would use this hotel again. October 20, 2013

The room was small, but we were only there to sleep. It was very clean. Short walk to Times Square and subway. The breakfast was a very nice touch. There was a lot of hot/cold food to choose from. Another nice touch was the cold lemonade in the afternoon, and the cookies in the evening. The kids loved that treat! Highly recommend! And would definitely stay there again. October 19, 2013

So double the amount I was intending to pay was on hold from my account. I had other monthly expenses debited from my account so that put me in a bind for a few days. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely excellent!!! After working in travel for the past 9 years I have stayed in many 4-5 star hotels within the UK and Europe. I booked this hotel to try and cut costs to enable me to have more funds for shopping. Whilst the hotels may not be as grand in size as others I have stayed in the service was better. The rooms were an adequate size and spotlessly clean. There was a flat screen TV, electronic safe and ample space for my shopping bags. It was lovely to be welcomed back after an extremely hot day shopping to ice cold lemonade in the reception. The breakfast was better than I expected. Nice and hot with a large selection. Complementary hot drinks are available 24 hours a day which is bonus. If you are looking for somewhere safe, clean, comfortable, in a great location and not over exspensive then this is the place for you. I am already looking at dates to return in the near future. Thank you so much to all the staff who made my trip so enjayable. :-) October 15, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel, great staff On first arrival we were made to feel welcome and throughout our stay the staff made the difference. The room and facilities are good as they are, even if there is room for improvement when it comes to the beds which were a little too short (I'm 1.80m and my feet would just stick out so I had to sleep at an angle) and the breakfast which could have offered a different selection every now and then. But otherwise we were very happy, the level of comfort the room provided such as closet space, bed firmness, choice of pillow firmness, a writing desk, free wireless internet, water pressure etc and the like were great. Best thing about the stay besides the view (we paid a little extra and got one of the best I'm sure in room 3305, viewing both Freedom tower and Empire state) though was the staff. Extra services made to feel like no extra effort really pleased us and made us feel comfortable, extra room viewing in the evening, extended checkout period at no extra cost, free lemonade in the lobby, quick response when some guest had locked the in-room safe on departure, all these things and more will see us revisiting for sure when we come to NYC next (this was our 4th, we're addicted). If we have any regrets it would be that we would have liked to thank each staff member personally but life interfered per usual. Sorry people, we'll get you next time! The rooms, for the price, are little, with dark colors, like the corridor, very dark. I am a platinum member with 62 night in Holiday Inn Hotel this year, so I visit a lot. October 9, 2013

We stayed in New York for the last 3 nights of our honeymoon and this was the only hotel that remembered we were on honeymoon and congratulated us on arrival. There was even a small gift in the room waiting for us! When looking at the location of the hotel to Times Square on Google maps it didn't look that close but upon arrival found that it was literally around the corner. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good, comfortable B & B option in New York in a great location. October 9, 2013

I travel a lot, and always ask my secretary to book me in a Holiday Inn no matter where i am in the world. This time in NY was a disaster. The toilet backed up. The way they cleaned the bathroom afterwords.made me sick. They refused to change my room. I paid almost $500 per night in a very small room, so nocisy, anyonw walking in the corridor can wake you up. etc etc September 30, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Six ladies were visiting New York to celebrate a 40th birthday, and chose The Holiday Inn Express as our accommodation. The hotel placed in the room of the birthday girl a helium balloon and Holiday Inn Express mug filled with sweets. The hotel is conveniently sited half way down on 39th street between 8th and 9th Avenue and therefore was within walking distance of Times Square. New York is a vibrant city and one which is best walked. Whilst taxis and buses are available, due to the volume of traffic, walking is the best option. This Holiday Inn Express provided us with everything we needed and helped to make our stay fantastic, as did the staff who were very friendly and helpful. Well done The Holiday Inn Express.
