Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Worst ever breakfast One of the worst ever breakfast in a hotel. The room is really little (20 places) for the size of the hotel. The choice is poor. The rooms, for the price, are little, with dark colors, like the corridor, very dark. I am a platinum member with 62 night in Holiday Inn Hotel this year, so I visit a lot. October 9, 2013

We stayed in New York for the last 3 nights of our honeymoon and this was the only hotel that remembered we were on honeymoon and congratulated us on arrival. There was even a small gift in the room waiting for us! When looking at the location of the hotel to Times Square on Google maps it didn't look that close but upon arrival found that it was literally around the corner. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good, comfortable B & B option in New York in a great location. October 9, 2013

I travel a lot, and always ask my secretary to book me in a Holiday Inn no matter where i am in the world. This time in NY was a disaster. The toilet backed up. The way they cleaned the bathroom afterwords.made me sick. They refused to change my room. I paid almost $500 per night in a very small room, so nocisy, anyonw walking in the corridor can wake you up. etc etc September 30, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Six ladies were visiting New York to celebrate a 40th birthday, and chose The Holiday Inn Express as our accommodation. The hotel placed in the room of the birthday girl a helium balloon and Holiday Inn Express mug filled with sweets. The hotel is conveniently sited half way down on 39th street between 8th and 9th Avenue and therefore was within walking distance of Times Square. New York is a vibrant city and one which is best walked. Whilst taxis and buses are available, due to the volume of traffic, walking is the best option. This Holiday Inn Express provided us with everything we needed and helped to make our stay fantastic, as did the staff who were very friendly and helpful. Well done The Holiday Inn Express. Everything is clean and the staff are friendly. 2 areas which were slightly disappointing are (1) The breakfast area is no-where near big enough, so you have to wait for a table or share with other guests. Or take breakfast to your room. (2) There are only 2 lifts and if you are on a high floor, the lifts took a while to come. September 25, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel Initially the location of the hotel was a bit intimidating (it is not in the best part of town) but once you get used to the hustle and bustle of the area you don't even notice it. Hotel is in a quiet street and is brilliantly placed for the subway. Staff are lovely (friendly and VERY helpful), bedrooms are well equipped and cleaned daily, and the breakfast is fab. I paid the extra for a city view which was well worth it. All in all a great hotel. September 23, 2013

Our stay at the this HIE (Times Square) was by far the most pleasant. They were only one of two locations to recognize us as IHG Rewards Club members. It is a small & tight location but the staff was most expansive and helpful. The location was terrific and allowed us easy access to all of Manhattan. September 18, 2013

They were very pleasant and helpful and went out of their way to help me and get me what I needed. The front desk employees were also helpful at all times. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best hotel in NYC with reasonable prices We travel alot and our expectations of hotels are pretty high. Holiday Inn Express went above our expectations in all areas. One of the cleanest hotels we have visited in awhile, especially in the city. The staff made my daughter feel very special for her 16th Birthday with a card and candy bars upon arrival, not to mention the daily fresh baked cookies. The upgrade to a higher floor with city view is well worth it. Very quiet day and night. Just expect longer wait times for the elevator the higher up you go in floors. HIGHLY recommend to anyone wanting a perfect location, good nights rest and friendly staff. September 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unexpected comfort I'm used to Holiday Inns being a regular 3* hotel and the Holiday Inn Express brand being 2.5*. But this HI Express location blew me away. 5 stars all around! I gave them my IHG Rewards # to get points and was surprised when the front desk girl offered me a 2pm checkout the next day. That was awesome as I wanted to sleep in. She also gave me a welcome bag with 2 bottles of water and some snacks. Great! I asked about a fitness room, and she said the Candlewood next door had a fitness room I could use for free, 24/7. Awesome! I also noticed they had FREE laundry there next door. They also offered free hot breakfast, and I saw a list of about 15 items I could expect. I wasn't up early enough, but for anyone who wanted a free meal, it sounded pretty good. I almost stayed up late enough to get breakfast lol. They had 2 computers in the lobby for using the Internet, and I was able to use their printer to print out a Groupon I had purchased. No cost for that either. So many amenities and just an overall great low-cost hotel option. Well done, guys! September 9, 2013

Really comfortable beds which were extremely welcome after full days sight seeing. Room size adequate, bigger than we expected for city hotel. Complimentary tea and coffee available, also fantastic lemon drink on tap in the foyer. Good choice at breakfast . Only 2 lifts but did not wait for longer than 2 minutes. Would recommend this hotel. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Categorically NOT RECOMMENDED This is, without the slightest of doubt, one of the worst hotel and the absolutely worst IHG hotel that I had ever stayed in! The bad experience started at the entrance of the hotel before I even entered it. We (2 people) arrived early in the morning with 4 average-sized bags plus a carry on. As we took our luggage out of the taxi, the bell hop/valet were simply chatting on their own and simply ignored us as we struggled with our bags through the doors. I give credit to the front desk staff who was friendly and was accommodating enough to give us a room despite being early in the morning. After we checked in, we requested a cart for the luggage and was called by the front; only then the bell hop/valet broke their chatting and walked in nonchalantly. The room was small but understandably being so in NYC. But the furniture belongs to the dumps --- the vinyl on the desk chair was literally peeling off and sticking to our clothes. (See attached photo to authenticate our claim.) The wood on the desk & dresser was all dented and scratched and the plumbing was old and noisy. I give credit to a comfortable bed but that's the only positive point. The A/C was the absolute worst --- it either stops completely or it blasts noisily with maximum cold air. So one moment it was hot and humid and the next frigidly cold! We put up with all these seeing that they did give us a room early in the morning. The next day, we went to the front desk requesting a room change mentioning all the deficiencies and to see if a two-bed room was available instead of an one-bed one. The staff at the front (different one from day one) replied in a very arrogant way that basically boiled down to "too bad, deal with it!" Added to that, he even said "and if you want a 2-bed room, you will need to pay for the upgrade and subject to availability!" I honestly don't think I would mind paying for the charge at all but having being told in such a rude manner is simply unacceptable and borderline insult! And I never got a room change by the way. We came back in the evening and were shocked to learn that the room had not been serviced at all! It was already 9pm so we didn't bother to call the front desk. To be fair, I am conscious to the environment and did not ask for a linen and towel change. But the room was simply untouched --- i.e. the beds were not made and everything else was as if no one even entered and serviced the room; which was exactly the case. On the day of checking out, the front asked for our experience of our stay and we simply told her the truth. She was kind enough to offer us 5000pts for the inconvenience which was appreciated but we would much rather have an enjoyable stay than 5000pts. As a frequent traveller and a Priority Club member for more than a decade, I had stayed in many hotels with a good percentage of them being IHG hotels. And I stayed in a wide spectrum of the IHG hotels --- Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Indigo, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. I realize that this particular hotel is a Holiday Inn Express and it cannot be compared to the calibre of, say, a Crowne Plaza. Incidentally, my stay at my next immediate destination (also within the US) after NYC was also a Holiday Inn Express and there are vast differences, in a magnitude of night and day, between the two. It definitely highlights just how poor the NYC Holiday Inn Express really was. Given all the circumstances taken place and factoring in the price, this Holiday Inn Express NYC Time Square is categorically the absolute worst IHG hotel that I had ever stayed. I would not stay there again even if it was offered with compliments plus points given to me. Other than a comfortable bed/mattress, I simply cannot recommend this hotel at all. Already happy with the variety of nice hotels available when we use this group of hotels for business. Mostly Holiday Inn Express. We ALMOST always have excellent experiences. This is the second time we have used them for family trips and could not be happier. This was probably the best service and stay we have had. Starting with the customer service agent who took time to understand our wants in New York City and provide us with the best possible hotel, excellent rates, suggestions for sight seeing and ideas for the kids. We booked a room with a city view and I asked her to put a note in for the hotel staff requesting the highest floor available knowing that there are no guarantees. Upon check-in by an extremely friendly and helpful staff....I was made away that we were booked for the top floor. Hooray!!!! our room was not quite ready and Jaime at the front desk.......great great guy, offered to put us in a room on the floor right below with the most incredible views. The room was great, breakfast selection, staff all the way around. I would certainly stay there again. I also realized that there was a partner hotel (Candlewood Suites) right next door which shared the fitness center. I imagine they have larger rooms with kitchens etc for those who desire them. Thank you for making our stay in New York City one that we and the kids will never forget. September 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excelelnt Choice for Times Square Fans We chose this location based on a package and it turned out to be a great choice. Times Square is just a few walking blocks away, as is the Empire State Building. The staff was extremely curteous and helpful. The double bed room was a little tight (standard in NYC), but clean. We selected the "city view" and could lie in my bed and see the Empire State Building, as well as look out toward Manhattan and see the Freedom Tower. We enjoyed a couple of late night restaurants/bars (Irish and Italian) within one block of the hotel, which was really convenient when tired after all the daytime activities. Subway, bus, rail access are all within blocks. September 5, 2013

She helped us book the taxi to airport and also offered to extend our stay for another 2 hours after finding out our flight is 5pm. Very Impressive! Also, we were lucky got a room on the 36th floor which offers a great view of New York city. We loved it a lot! The room is very clean and well-organized, and the beds and pillows were also very comfortable. The breakfast was great, offered varieties of foods and drinks and fruits. The location of the hotel is only 2 or 3 blocks away from Time Square and has lots of convenience store and restaurants around! Will definitely go back! September 4, 2013
