The staff was very friendly and made sure to great us (by name) each time we arrived or departed. I was on military orders for a month and thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality!

Good points...the overall room cleanliness appeared good and what was left of the breakfast at 930 was not bad. Only 10 minutes away from Busch Gardens and much cheaper than other IHG hotels in that area.
Bad points: all of the towels in our bathroom had old blood stains on them from what appeared to be shaving accidents and when I brought this to the attention of the front desk shortly after check in at 10pm at night they said that no towels would be available until the next morning. Also the remote for the television did not work and once again the front desk stated that we would have to wait until the following morning.
The breakfast is advertised on the flyers handed out at the front desk as being from 6-10. However, by 930 they were completely out of the pancake mix for the pancake machine and the hostess stated that she was not allowed to put more in that late in the breakfast period despite the fact that the breakfast area was full and people kept coming in. This also happened to the signature cinnamon roles that were completely gone by 945am and could not be replenished in addition to the eggs which were gone by 945am. Needless to say yogurt bananas and sausage were still on the menu.
Be advised that while the pool is clean as shown in the photos it is across the parking lot and on the opposite side of another hotel that sits on the property so it is a small walk and shared by 2 hotels but it was very clean and refreshing in the heat.

As an IHG Platinum member I spend many nights per year in hotels as a business and leisure traveler (mostly business). I look for comfort, safety, convenience and a reasonably economical night's rest. The Holiday Inn Express is a good price point brand that provides confidence that I will have a predictably comfortable stay.
I wanted to specifically mention Letesse. She welcomed this late-arriving, airplane weary traveler to Newport News. Although there was no upgrade available she made sure that I got the best available rate and stressed my value as an IHG member.
All in all, it was Holiday Inn Express. That is a good thing, but that is what it is. The grounds and property were very well maintained, above what you expect. It gave the place a feeling more like a resort than a simple business stop.
I recommend this property and will seek it out when in the area next time.

This was a great place to stay. I liked it most because it's kind of hidden from all the other hotels, which kept the high flow of traffic down, that you would not normally get at other vacation spot's. This hotel is a best kept secret!

Location was great, food okay but lady in counter barely smiled. I got one bottled of water for free even though there was 3 of us, when i got to the room there was no towel and shower curtain, that was fixed after a phone call, also there was a little fruit flys flying around, air conditioning loud, someone burnt popcorn from another room and the fire alarm the desk clerk didn't even address what was going on, rather than that the Location was great.

Hotel staff super friendly!!! Very helpful. Answered questions when we had them. The only bad thing I would say was my room had a little of a stinky smell to it. I don't know if the carpert was just washed and didn't dry all the way. But are other room was good. Second thing is they should have more kitchenware and a sponge to wash the dishes. Overall I would stay here again. Thank you for the service!!!!

We just completed our stay of 5 nights. No complaints -- great staff, housekeeping services, and good choices for breakfast. Staff was very helpful with all of our needs. This was a great location for us to have access to Fort Eustis for our son's graduation. I would stay here again & we recommend it to you!

My fiancé is currently temporarily stationed at Fort Eustis VA right across the street from this hotel. He has been there for a year and I make the drive up there from South Carolina at least once a month, and I always stay at Holiday Inn on Warwick Blvd! I wouldn't stay anywhere else! The staff is excellent. My favorite desk clerk is Doug. He knows us by name and he does an amazing job at making sure we are always comfortable and satisfied with our stay. Housekeeping is great at giving us our privacy during the day, but always make sure we have everything we need. The breakfast is always amazing. Sometimes it is nice to just "stay in" and get a quick, hot bite to eat and go back to your day at your own pace. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone! It's always very clean and I have never had any problems with being able to relax and sleep through the night. It is very quiet and comfortable. The only thing I wish is that we would get a free night considering we have stayed there over 10 times in the past year LOL

This hotel is clean, the staff is very friendly, and the location is easily accessible off the interstate - and this hotel is very quiet. Good comfy beds and I had a good night's sleep - and for me that's the most important thing when I travel. It is near the entrance to Fort Eustis. Parking is easy and plentiful. The rooms are a bit smaller than average, and there are no convenient restaurants nearby, but if you have a car you can easy venture over to other neighborhoods in New Port News with plenty of dining options - less than a 5 minute drive from the hotel. So, this is a great spot for the business traveler who wants a good, quiet night's sleep.

Not up to standards of Holiday Inn Expresses that I have stayed before. Room were cleaned. Staff addressed everything that we brought to attention, but staff should had checked out room prior to signing room would have been nice. Staff was friendly but not informative. Ask for directions staff member behind desk said "don't you have gps".

This was my 3rd stay at this hotel and as always I found it to be EXCELLENT!!! The staff at check-in Doug, Teri & Latrice are SUPER friendly. Our room was clean, smelled fresh, the bathroom and vanity area was clean, the kitchenette was clean... EVERYTHING was clean!!! There's no other hotel in the Newport News, VA area that I will even consider. Holiday Inn Express on Warwick is the BEST!!!

We stayed here when our son graduated AIT at Ft Eustis. This was a very convenient location and had all we needed. The staff was very nice and helpful and it was a very comfortable room. The only issue was that the amenities were in another building so we didn't use them.

I have stayed at this Hotel several times over the last 10 years. The maintenance on this facility is as good as it was 10 years ago. All problems are addressed promply, The Staff goes above and beyond the call of duty, very nice people. It is rare to find a Hotel that serves a Hot Breakfast. The location is quiet, close to a Military Base, which makes you feel safe and secure. The location is surrounded by woods with walking paths, many species of birds can be found, a very relaxing atmosphere. The quality for the money cannot be beat. I will continue to stay there for another decade.

Althouth the food and room were typical of a Holiday Inn Express, The custodial staff were DEFICIENT. I stayed two nights but the amenities were NOT replaced in the room except the soap, conditioner & shampoo.
NO replacement Clean Bathtowels, The Ice Bucket was NOT emptied, the coffee pot not cleaned or moved. NO replacement mouthwash, coffee cups, drinking cups, coffee or coffee condiments.
The layout of the room was NOT efficient with the fridge, microwave and coffee pot near the TV & Desk. This rooms carpeting looked stained. And we had to ask for blankets, the Duvet & spread were insufficient for warmth.
I typically look at HIE first and usually rate well but this on did not meet the grade.
It was convenient to the Interstate & Military base but little else.

I stay at this property because of the proximity to the base I was attending a graduation. I have stay at many HH hotels thru out my travels but these one was so far the worst I have stayed. There was a customer at the lobby that required batteries for the TV remote control and the HH employee behind the counter call someone else and over the phone told them there was someone at the front desk needing batteries that someone is called a customer or at least acknowledge the person by his or her name not someone. The same employee later that day was arguing with the security guard because he refused to take out the garbage behind the front desk. That argument went on for about 15 minutes not very professional at all. The room had a strong musty smell. I was never acknowledge as a Gold member and that is something HH is good about, I'm very sad to have gone thru that ordeal.

I was not expecting to smell urine when I opened the door to my room. I got another room and it was ok. People were fine and food was fine. Seems like it needs upgrading.
