Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst HIE experience ever I stayed in 3 HIEs in 9 days. I'd rate them as follows: Ashland 100% - always superb, Grants Pass 90% - great, Newport 10-20 % - would never stay there again. Outside looked pretty grim. Front desk person who checked us in was terrible. At HIE, we are used to someone on the desk who seems to care about us having a good stay. She did not tell us where anything was, including breakfast room, elevator, baggage carts, etc. Inside lobby and our room were clean, other staff friendly and efficient (including front desk the next morning), but my initial front desk impression soured the stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by have been around the world but enjoy this place the most! Hotel is close to everything "Newport"!!!..Rogue is within walking distance.. Marine science center, other attractions, tons of things that are very close to this centrally located property.. take a walk down to the pier and watch the ships roll in.. All sorts of great adventures.....What else can you ask for? July 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Modern room and great pool! We had a great one night! The room was exceptionally clean and up to date. The pool and spa were wonderful and a great temperature. It is close to the Aquarium and some shopping. You would need to travel for good food. July 16, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Relax, but not in that chair Stayed for mini-vacay. Relaxing room with air conditioning. Wonderful shower. The night lights are a nice touch so you don't bang into the walls during the night when you have to use the facilities. There were multiple electrical outlets for charging Ipod, cell phones, etc. One issue and one "heads-up". Issue - the reading chair in the room is the most uncomfortable piece of furniture I have ever sat upon. Unfortunately, it was the only seating area with a light. "Heads-up" - the room keys can be de-activated if placed next to a cell phone. Our room key had to be reactivated three times before the staff figured out what was happening. This was a nuisance, but easily solved. Great staff! July 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Newport, OR Holiday Inn Good location in terms of being close to all major attractions and easily accessible from Hwy 101. This hotel is not on the beach, however, so if being on the water is a priority for you, look elsewhere. The included breakfast is very tasty, though is very much a Continental style, so choice is limited. I stayed over the 4th of July when rates were high, so staying in an off-season period would probably provide better value. The staff was very friendly and professional. I have no complaints. The hotel was clean and quiet at night. With the blackout curtains, sleep was uninterrupted and restful. July 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay in Newport, OR Our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Newport, Oregon was wonderful. We called ahead the morning of our stay and was greeted by a very friendly and courteous reservations clerk. We were able to easily reserve a room for that evening. When we arrived, our room was ready and in great condition. Staff at check-in was friendly and helpful. The following morning, we enjoyed a continental breakfast. We especially enjoyed the warm cinnamon rolls. We will definately stay here if we travel to this area again. July 9, 2014
