The hotel room was very clean. It did not have that stuffy hotel smell that many have. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not wake up early enough for the free breakfast......I guess that tells you how comfortable the bed was. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would reccomend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a place to stay in the Lexington area. We stayed only one night on our way to Gatlinburg and we will definately stay there again.

My husband and I were very impressed with the cleanliness of our room. We are picky about that - and were happy to be able to relax knowing our two small children were in a tidy room. The shower was clean and had great water pressure. The beds were comfortable and had many pillow choices. We appreciated the bathroom items provided (soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, mouth wash). There were enough towels in the room (that rarely happens). The swimming pool was warm and our boys enjoyed the light that changed colors while they swam. Pool towels were available which were nice (but not very big). Check-in and check-out were quick and smooth. We were able to get local church information accurately at the front desk. And the continental breakfast was AMAZING. We have never had that much of a variety of food offered - and all items were delicious! Thanks for a lovely visit.

This is the best staffed hotel I have ever stayed in within this class of hotel. (No it's not quite as good as the Greenbrier). Very helpful and friendly.

Our stay at this location was fantastic. Everything was up to date. They also offered DirecTV so their was plenty to watch on TV since my husband was filling a little sick. I would stay here again! The only complaint I have is that the breakfast was OK, but it was free.

One of the nicest motels I have stayed in lately. Beautifully decorated, very clean, nice breakfast area and food. Minor problem with housekeeping (coffee pot not cleaned), but front desk gave me $$$ off the bill to compensate me for my trouble. I look forward to staying there again in the future!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Gretel11 Customer service was less than a one star.
We arrived here after a two night stay in Frankfort, KY, where the customer service was wonderful. Many guests from this wedding party also moved to this hotel due to the proximity of the after wedding party.
We checked in at approximately 9PM, after unloading our luggage I went to the ice machine on the third floor,it did not function. I went to the front desk to inform them, the employee had a poor attitude and told me to go to another floor.
At this time another member of our party arrived to check in, she was told there was no reservation in her name and the the hotel was fully booked, even though she was able to produce the e-mail of when the reservation was made and the party she was associated with.
I then requested that two cots be delivered to my room, so these friends could stay overnight. I was curtly informed that they did not have cots, only cribs. They went to another hotel.
The TV did not work, unable to connect to WiFi. A complete waste of money and and exercise in frustration.
The next morning there was no one available at the desk for checkout, only a sign that said "Will Return." After ten minutes and still no staff I left my keycard at the desk with my signed receipt and left.
My friends called me the next morning to say they called to complain about the customer service and were told the the hotel was not fully occupied the previous night and that the manager would be in contact.
This was horrible and very pricey for a lousy night.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MattDavid1 Very Unimpressed for a Renovated Facility
Let me start off by saying that the staff was wonderfully friendly and accommodating. And, the look has improved since my last stay, a result of the recent renovation. That being said, I absolutely feel I wasted my money at this hotel. The climate control thermostat has a motion sensor that turns the unit off after a period of not detecting motion. So, every day we returned to a room that was nearly 80F. Oh, and at night (if you don't toss and turn a lot), the motion sensor would turn off the AC, and we would wake up to a muggy room that had that smell of a house where the AC just died. We actually thought it was just that room, so we requested to be moved, and found out it was prevalent with all rooms. Also, no climate control in the stair wells, so it was BAKING if you took the stairs. The key-card readers did not work for any door on the south end of the motel, so if you parked there you had to walk to the main entrance to get in. The door closer for the stairwell door on the 3rd floor was broken, so the door always slammed closed. The toilet in our room backed up every day, and the ice machine on the 3rd floor didn't work. Not impressed for a recently renovated facility. Do not waste your money.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NicevilleBill A Bunch of Mistakes
This was our 6th or 7th stay here. It was the sorriest! Maximum confusion on reservations over the phone and at the front desk. AC unit in room was unplugged, system not operating. I plugged it in and it worked OK. Additional room had unplugged AC unit PLUS the unit was partially disassembled on the floor. Fix-it guy reassembled and indicated unit had been in need of repair for days if not weeks. He adjusted AC in adjoining room [bedroom of small suite] to cool both rooms. Hotel present occupants with a gift basket of drink and snacks and an apology. No ice bucket in room. Ice machine and vending machines on the 3rd floor did not work. One of two phones in room did not work. Several lamps did not work or we could never find the combination of switches to use them. Room over looked front of the building which was fully lighted at night. Curtains were hung 6 or 8 inches from the wall with no “returns”. Curtains also fluttered with the flow of the AC. The room was way too light for sleeping. Shoes, pillows, etc. were used to keep the curtains in place and reduce the light at night. 2:00 A.M. on the 13th we awoke to laughing, talking, singing coming from a small group at the front door of the hotel. Bottom line---the stay was more trouble that it was worth.

I have physical/health problems that makes travel difficult.
Noticing my difficulties. Staff asked what I needed
I said I was hot and thirsty and asked about a pop machine and ice.
Maintenance was sent to set air conditioning unit to 67
to cool room quicker as desk staff retrieved my pop and ice.
I got to room the air conditioning was cooling room
And the pop and ice was waiting on me.
After that .. Nothing else would have mattered
Because that's what important to me.
My needs surround easy access breakfast and shower.
And a good bed.
All of which met my needs perfectly.
I don't require pool or health and fitness center
So can't comment on that
My only complaint was lack
of variety and number of vending machines

The thermostat in the room was 11-13 degrees off. When set at 65 the room temperature ranged between 76 and 78. When the front desk (which in their defense was very busy) was asked all they could say was to turn off the unit, wait 5 minutes, and turn it on again. No change.
Did not have ice-bucket or glasses
Sound insulation not very good. People over us came in at 2:30 am, their footsteps very noisy, took long showers which were very noisy

The updating of the facility is excellent and greatly needed as we have used this facility twice before in the last two years and were not comfortable. After reading other recent reviews, I was concerned about what this stay would be like. The updated rooms were excellent & comfortable. Yes, there was a slight smell due to the renovations but not overwhelming. The staff deserves extra recognition for going above and beyond accommodating our family group who was staying there for a wedding. They were Excellent! Thank you for making our stay so pleasant. Would not hesitate to stay/ recommend your facility.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CPC1 Friendly Staff, Good Breakfasts and... construction is mostly done
I stayed at this hotel on May 10 thru 12. Staff was very friendly, room was clean and comfortable, breakfasts were good - one suggestion would be to also offer a couple types of cut-up fruit. Prior to staying here (but after I already made my reservations) I read the previous reviews by other guests and was concerned about the whole construction/remodeling thing. Just to update the record, the construction/remodeling is complete with only a few outside signs of finishing activities, the American flag looked to be in good shape, good restaurant selection nearby and the drive into south Lexington only took15 minutes. Was a pleasant stay and (given the remodeling is complete) I would recommend this hotel to others.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JAH1705 Poor accessibility & upgrading in place.
I've been a Platinum member for a number of years and this was the first time I stayed @ a H.I.E. property that was some (25) minutes from the interstate. It was clearly not stated that way on the H.I.E. website which was misleading to say the least. I was not recognized as a Platinum member, there was no indication on the website that there was a MAJOR upgrade taking place (one month later than the contract), paint smell in the room was not appealing, there was no couch, table & chairs and there was a large hole behind the spigot in the shower that I'm assuming should have been caulked. I know this property will be a 'premier' site once the upgrades are completed, but I believe the website should reflect this information prior to someone booking it. The

I have been a Priority Club member since 1990, and this was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
When I arrived the hotel was under construction, and it only got worst from there. When I made the reservation there was no mention of this.
I came to Lexington to see my son, hoping to watch the final four (2 games), and the TV was from the 80's - 90's. Could not watch it back in the room. You could not look out the window, because their was plastic over it.
The fumes from painting and other remodeling was noxious.
It was a beautiful day, but no benches outside to sit and take it in.
I asked to see the Manager when I checked out on Sunday, but he was unavailable.
I asked the desk clerk to have him call me, that I wanted to speak with him.
I waited more than a week, and called him again today, and I still have not gotten a call back.
Very disappointing with that as well.

We had a very disappointing stay at this location during the last week of March 2013. When I called to make the reservation I heard banging in the background. When I inquired about the noise the clerk said that there was some construction going on on the first and second floor but that we would be on the third floor so it shouldn't affect us. I was also told it was only during the day. Fast forward to our arrival...every floor was under construction or had plywood walls and chain locks. We did not see another guest, just construction workers and staff. When we returned from our dinner out construction was still going on at 9:00 pm. I called the front desk to inquire as to when the pounding would stop and was told that they work until quiet hours which begin at 11:00PM!!! The clerk offered to ask them to stop- which he did. Ultimately they stopped about 1/2 hour later. I don't know about you all but my family was on the road all day and were zonked! We sure didn't want to have to ask for construction to stop, none-the-less request it to stop. The next morning breakfast was in a room mostly completed and the choices were plenty but the eggs were scary looking and they were the primary form of protein. The scrambled eggs were brown and dried out and the hard boiled eggs were pre-peeled and slimy. Normally I wouldn't even mention the eggs but the whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth for Holiday Inn, a name that we trusted. I have never felt so neglected and undervalued in all of my years of traveling. We travel by road fairly regularly and stay in mid-range hotels like this. I really felt like Holiday Inn shouldn't be hosting guests at this point in their renovations or they should be offering a substantial discount!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bkylem no directional signage during renovation, dirty, shredded US flag, high sound transmission between rooms, indifferent GM, full rack rate !
I have stayed here many times, but will never stay again. As a hotel designer, I understand the difficult conditions that present themselves while in the midst of a renovation. Typically however, the staff goes out of it's way to offset the disruption by making the experience one of "change" rather than indifference. With the exception of one member of the staff who checked me in, I was confronted with almost total apathy (housekeepers excluded).
Renovations are never an easy, but there is no excuse for not informing the guest or providing much needed signage.
Upon leaving the hotel, I glanced up and saw the US flag flying in tatters. I thought it was a sad statement by a rather sad hotel.
Lest you think I am being overly critical, I will stress that previous stays had been delightful.

I booked 2 nights at this venue and was not told it was under construction. I arrived to find a hotel with construction gates around the entrance, plastic sheeting covering the hallway walkways, and an overall smell of paint fumes.
I was awakened Saturday and Sunday mornings, prior to 8:30am, by the sound of drilling and the voices of construction workers. I stayed on the 3rd floor, in an end room, and construction was being completed a few feet away, at the end of the hallway.
When I asked about the construction, I was merely told this was the worst it was going to get. That did not help.
When I voiced my complaint to customer service, I was told they would pass my concerns on to the hotel, so they could put it in their book. This also did not help.
I have come to expect quite a lot from this hotel chain, and I was very disappointed.
