The location is ok, a short 5 minutes from downtown so it served my purpose. Was shocked that the walls of the hotel are paper thin, no insulation or noise control at all. It is an older location with updates but do not expect peace and quite. I got to hear the conversation between my neighbor and his wife every night on the phone, both sides of the conversation because he had her on speaker or something. Every sniffle, cough, or other noise was like he was in the room with me. At least he went to sleep by 10:30 pm. If a car drives by and is the least bit noisy you will hear it.
The A/C system fan did not blow very hard, I typically turn on the constant fan to help with noise at hotels. The fan was whisper quiet and could barley be felt blowing, not bad if it is at home but a hotel needs the white noise of the fan to drown out some of the unavoidable noise of people in the halls or traffic outside.
The staff were friendly. The computer in the business center was super slow. The food was decent, it is average HIE food.
If you are noise sensitive I recommend bringing a white noise machine or ear plugs.
The increases in price over the past 10 years, decrease in breakfast quality, and increased cost for point based nights has led me to give up 7 continuous years of Platinum elite for another hotel rewards program. I will only stay at IHG locations if it is of value or the only option.

This Holiday Inn Express was comfortable and a good location for the conference that we were attending. It is in a good location of Kansas City.

Lou was disappointing and Christina was Great.
Upon our arrival, the check in person, Lou, barely acknowledged us. My wife and I are Priority Club, Platinum, members and upon Lou placing us in a second floor room, requested an upgrade to a quiet room on the top floor. Lou did not attempt to move us from our second floor room citing the many customers the hotel receives from the highway traffic. The hotel parking lot was near empty. Lou's conduct and attitude were unwelcoming and Unprofessional!! My wife questioned this response and Lou sighed and reluctantly moved us to a third, top, floor room. The room was acceptable. At 11:17 pm my wife and I call the front desk and complain about the noise coming from the adjacent room, young adults, loud noises, conversation and disrespect toward the guests of the hotel. The hotel staff, the gentleman we spoke to on the phone, guaranteed us he would call and handle the problem. At 11:25 we called the front desk again due to the noise still coming from the adjacent room. A female answered the phone and said that the gentleman working the desk said that he called the noisy room and asked them to be quiet. This was untrue because my wife and I would have heard the phone ring and it did not. We informed the Front desk of this and Christina, working the front desk, promised us she would handle it. She actually came up to the third floor and knocked on the room door with the nose and asked to people to be quiet. At 11:35 we called the front desk again because the noise from the adjacent room was louder than before. Christina, again informed the room with the noise to be quiet. At this time, 11:39 pm, Our room air conditioner failed to function. Christina was able to change our room and placed us in an excellent, quiet and cool room. She was Great. Christina was professional, courteous, and skilled at handling conflicts with noisy rude customers. My wife and I would stay at this hotel again as long as Christina was working there.
