First stay at this H X press hotel. I stay in Detroit often at many Holiday Inn's. Room was nice, clean and comfortable. Several restaurants nearby which was also helpful. Two negatives, I asked for a wake up call when I checked in. Never got one! Fortunately I woke up on time anyway. Also the trash dumpster pick up at 4:30 am was not the most relaxing either. Will give it another try, but just one more.

Plan ahead and book somewhere else. This property is very dated. The furnishings, lighting and condition of the rooms leaves much to be desired. It will work for a simple business stop over, but I would not suggest it for anything but as a back-up.

Check in staff completely unreasonable. When you ask for an extended check out and housekeeping knocks on your door 2 hours early (with the Do Not Disturb sign on the door), it just doesn't start the day out nice. Water stains on the ceiling. Didn't have a clean feeling. When I had to mention I was a Platinum member and staff responded with "Oh yea, thanks for being an IHG rewards member" I should have known what to expect.

I had booked 4 rooms for 3 colleagues and myself attending an event nearby. Staff made sure we were in the same area of the hotel, and rooms were a good size, clean and furnished with taste.
Room cleaning was also very good and seemed completed thouroughly.
The gym room was however rather small and would need an uplift in size as well as number of equipments available.
