On arrival the young lady at reception was involved with another couple and it appeared there were challenges, creating an extended wait for me, as no one else came to assist her. When she was free to check me in, she was friendly and efficient.
The room was very disappointing, it was cooler than it should be at this time of year and when I moved the wall thermostat it came away from the base section. The heating never made the room hot, despite me turning the thermostat to "high". On "auto" it would have been too noisey to sleep.
The carpet was extensively liquid stained in more than one place, making the room feel uncleen.
In the toilet the wash basin was cracked.
Overall the room was shabby.
I would hope this is not the norm in this hotel, but did wonder if this is what you get as a frequent user of Holiday Inn Expresses, what does the infrequent guest get ?
Due to working and eating dinner late, I did not sample breakfast.
Checkout was friendly and efficient.
Overall the opposite from a good experience in Crawley HIE the night before

Friendly and helpful staff on the front desk. My only observation was that the guest room was in need of decorating.

Hotel was OK but the wifi was not good - the router needed to be reset a couple of times and the speed was slow. There was a liquid splatter on the wall near the window. If you're staying here, be sure to work out how you're going to get to the nearby NCP car park before you arrive since I missed the turn and had to go a long way around a one way system before I could get back to the hotel.
