The hotel is well-maintained and my experience with the staff was very positive. There's no pool, but I only needed a clean bed. This was business travel, not a vacation. The lot is not gated, but it looks like they have security around to keep an eye on things, and the rate for the room and parking is a killer deal. I would highly recommend this location. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 What's with the television? First of all, the staff is terrific, the room was quiet and comfortable and the breakfast was nice. However, as a frequent traveler, hotel television, in general, is inadequate. (I originally used a word for what a vacuum cleaner does, but was edited). As I was saying, this hotel television was the worst, as I couldn't even change the channels to find unpleasant TV. "Inappropriate" word again edited out) Old habits die hard, but maybe it's an iPad and Netflix for this old dog! April 15, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very disappointed For the first time, I'm not planning on coming back to a particular HIE. I've had a bad experience before at this HIE, but since it was still convenient location, I decided to stay again and see if the previous stay was a fluke. It doesn't seem that it was a fluke. There seems to be systemic problem with their HVAC units - both in their ability to work, the inability to change the fan speed, and the extreme amount of noise they produce. I also don't a appreciate a fridge to keep fresh vegetables for snacks that freezes said vegetables and can't be adjusted despite requests to maintenance. I might as well not have fridge. Finally, during this last visit I found the internet to be unreliable with low signal strength and frequent disconnects. In sum, I'm taking my business elsewhere. April 13, 2013

The location is very convenient and the shuttle service worked well both going to the airport in the early morning and for a pick-up when I returned several days later. I will stay here again!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great location My wife and I were flying in from Hawaii and flying out early the very next morning. We arrived at the airport and the free shuttle service picked us up within 5 minutes. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted and quickly checked in. The front desk also reminded of us of the time change for that night (which we would have forgotten!) and recommemded a wake up call for us. We had a good nights sleep and were up early the next morning, had a speedy check out and took the shuttle back to the airport to head for home. Both times the shuttle drivers provided excellent service, were polite, and handle our luggage perfectly (the airlines should take notes for these guys!) If we are ever in the Oakland area in the future, I will be staying at this hotel. March 14, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice room and friendly staff My wife and I spent the first night at this hotel before we flew to Mexico on vacation. We left our car with the hotel and stayed a second night upon our return one week later. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice, modern, and clean. The breakfast was good and better than I was expecting. The only negative was that there was an odd odor in the second floor hallway around the elevator. Not sure what it was or if it was coming from a guest room in that area although this wasn't a big deal for us. The hotel was very close to the airport and the free shuttle was timely. I searched for a reasonable priced "nice" hotel all over San Francisco and in near vicinity's, all were over priced. I stayed in this one for 3 days on my way to Victoria, Canada. It was a very pleasurable stay the hotel is right across the Oakland Airport which is a 15 mile drive the the Golden Gate. My family and I would spend all day in San Francisco and would drive to hotel at night to sleep. Oakland is not a place where you want to hang out but the hotel is in a very safe area. If you want to stay in a nice hotel and save a few hundred dollars this is the way to do it. February 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT LOCATION/SHUTTLE TO OAKLAND AIRPORT I picked this hotel because I had an early flight, which they offered a shuttle starting at 4am. The shuttle did start at 4am sharp. It also offered a free shuttle from BART, Oakland stop, but the front desk female was horrible with where it picked on up (and not a really safe area to be standing around for a long time). It would be better if any of the staff would say "at the white line just under the overpass walkway IN FRONT of the local buses." She kept say "white curb" but it was so far down the street that I didn't think it would be that far. If she would have added AHEAD of the local buses and UNDER the pedestrian overpass it would have been an easy find. Otherwise nice room, ice machine, vending machines, laundry, etc. February 12, 2013

We arrived very late (close to midnight) and the van pick up was prompt, our reception at the front desk was friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. Got a kick out of the pancake maker machine and the pancakes were pretty good to boot. Thank you for making us feel welcome and safe. February 1, 2013

Hotel, breakfast, service, staff were all very good but I really want to commend the driving staff, our driver to the airport was ready a minute or two when we were ready to leave and we experienced the same courteous and fast service when we came back - this time after 11:00 pm! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staff was very rude and not helpful I arrived at around midnight from a layover and needed to ride the shuttle at 6am back to the airport. I called the evening before and they said it was first come- first served. I called again to let them know at 5am that I needed a shuttle at 6am. She told me I needed to be in the lobby. I came down around 5:45 am. The front desk then began to lecture me about how if I wanted a shuttle I should be waiting in the lobby 45 min to an hour before the shuttle. I told her I called an hour early. She reminded me that I should have been sitting in the lobby the entire time. I then asked for a cab- she said it would take 45 minutes. We were 5 min away from the airport. She told me I would just have to sit and wait. I finally asked if she vould at least call the shuttle and give me an ETA so I would know if it were possible to make my flight. She once again lectured me. After a 10 hour trying to get toOakland, getting to my hotel at midnight and waking up at 5am, I just don't understand how the staff could have made the entire process any more difficult. If you call down to the desk and say you need a shuttle an hour before, why can't they give you and ETA or put you on a list? Or give you a courtesy call of some kind. They were rude and I am a platinum member who stays at HIE all the time. This particular hotel had very poor customer service. November 15, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to relax and getting around was easy! I got this room due to an early morning flight, and I was pleasantly surprised! Arrived a little early, and still got into the room. The shuttle picked me up and dropped me off at the Bart and the airport, so I was very pleased with the transportation. The room was very very clean, and was very relaxing! I enjoyed the view, but would say that the heater/A/C so close the the bed was not a smart move, as that area was either cooler or hotter than any other part of the room. I still enjoyed the stay, and will stay there again for sure! November 10, 2012
