Stayed here the night prior to catching a 6:25 am flight.the next morning. Clerk at reception desk was friendly and efficient. The shuttle bus driver picked us up from the Car Rental Center quickly (5 min after calling for a ride). The next morning, the shuttle took us to the airport at 4:30 am. I will definitely stay here again.

Our two family group used the Oakland-Airport Holiday Inn Express as our "before and after" sleepover for our trip to Hawaii this Christmas. When we arrived back at Oakland on New Year's Eve, we were greeted warmly by Dorothy who remembered us from the week previous. When we expressed interest in finding a restaurant for dinner on a busy New Year's Eve, she recommended one and coordinated with the shuttle driver to transport the seven of us. Following a delightful dinner, we called the shuttle driver who came promptly. All in all, what could have been a tiring depressing evening (after a fun filled week in sunny Kauai) turned into a memorable New Year's Eve.

I just recently attended a concert at the Oracle Arena with 3 teenaged girls, my 2 daughters and 1 niece. We absolutely loved this property! The staff was fantastic. We needed a shuttle ride to the arena so that we could avoid the expensive parking there. We were picked up at the hotel door and dropped off at the BART station adjacent to the arena by a great shuttle driver. We stayed for the 6 hour concert then called the hotel for a pickup. The driver works until 1:00 am so there was no problem. He was there waiting for us when we arrived back to the station. The room was super clean and quiet. The bathroom was a bit small but we didn't mind as there were plenty of mirrors and outlets throughout the room for primping. The breakfast was perfect for us as we just needed to fill our tummy's and hit the road. They even had peanut butter, a must for our bananas, oatmeal, or bagels! The location was also very good . There is shopping within a couple of miles where there is a Walmart, gas, Starbucks, and food chain restaurants. The parking lot was well lit and we saw nothing that would make us feel threatened in the slightest . Our experience was great and I would absolutely recommend this hotel!

Very nice staff and very helpful. The shuttle to and from the Arena was very easy and I felt safe. The room was clean and the microwave and fridge were great for our midnight snack.

Yenny, the front desk representative was outstanding. She made me feel comfortable and welcome at the hotel. She was very good at point out the amenities and services in the area. She had a great attitude and great smile. I wish I had more front desk persons like her. Please give her my thanks for helping me.

We stayed here one night. We were driving, but used the shuttle to go to the BART station for a trip into San Francisco. Both Shuttle Drivers were excellent giving us information on using the BART on the way there and then answering our questions about the hotel area on the way back. Two in our party flew out of OAK and were able to shuttle from the BART to the hotel, pick up luggage and get to OAK very easily. The area is a little seedy, but the staff can help you stay out of problem areas. This would be an excellent hotel to use in conjunction with a visit flying into OAK. The breakfast was great and staff was very helpful answering our questions and meeting our needs. We would stay here again.

Wifi service was horrible. It would cut out every time you changed pages and make you login again. When the staff was asked if they were having issues with it, they simply said that it always has poor quality in rooms at the end of the hall, but because they were sold out, they couldn't move me.
"Hot tub" was barely warm, though staff offered to turn it up to be warm if I wanted to wait.
Room was ok. Sheets were full of hair and didn't look clean when I arrived. I told the front desk and they promptly had housekeeping change the bedding completely. Otherwise an ok place to crash for a night, but not where I'd stay again for more than that. You could also hear the water run and toilet flush everytime in the next room as if you were in that room...walls very thin.

Warming container has no cover, therefore eggs do not keep warm even though it's a full dish of eggs.
Suggest management contact the Chapel Hill, NC Holiday Inn Express on how to properly handle hot food, which we stayed at the next nite and their eggs were hot.
Other than this the breakfast has a good variety.

I first stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in Portland OR in June and was more than pleased with my stay. Then a month later stayed in one in Klamath Falls OR. Again, more than pleased. Recently I stayed a week in Oakland and three times in a row I was more than impressed with all of my stays. I will not stay at any other hotel chain. Two main things that I insist on when I stay at a hotel is cleanliness and quiet. Must have quiet! Even though I was less than a mile away from the Oakland airport (very busy), I only heard one or two jets. In other hotels I could hear doors in the hallway close, toilets flush, showers running, someone's tv too loud. I always travel with ear plugs and never used them, didn't need to! Not sure if it is the clientele or that the rooms are just so sound proof. No loud children, no crying babies, no drunk party revelers. Relaxing. Clean! Not a speck of dirt in the place, the sheets were crisp and clean. I walked barefoot without worry of germs. I didn't have my room made while I was there but did need extra shampoo, lotion and coffee which were given to me without question from the hotel staff. I love that I don't have to go out for breakfast and the coffee is awesome. The food choices are incredible, anything you want, it is there!

In general, the staff was not very friendly nor helpful. The evening driver of the airport shuttle did not help us with our luggage nor really speak to us. The front desk staff in the evening and morning we not friendly, failed to acknowledge me as a Platinum level guest, nor offer any help identifying restaurants that delivered in the area. I have stayed at various IHG properties around the world, and have never been treated this poorly. I am glad this properties is the exception and not the norm.

One of the best HIE i have stayed at.
Staff friendly and efficient. I had a wonderful room. the lady at the front desk treated me great. If I am back in the area this is where I will stay.
Only one comment.
the breakfast area faces a brick wall. You can make that area more inviting if you put out some trees/ plants and a couple iron patio tables and make like a true patio.

Overall, our stay was good - the bed, the food, parking, the staff were great. The shuttle service was very convenient and much appreciated. The first night, we had no working sink in the room, and management was very responsive. Our second stay, a week later, we had a suite with a fold-out couch and a king bed in a separate room. The king bed was great, but the couch is a disaster and should be replaced. It had no real mattress, just an odd spring-filled, uncomfortable and even painful apparatus. I ended up sleeping on the floor! I have tolerated some pretty bad fold-out couches, but this was simply awful.
Otherwise, the hotel is clean, well-appointed, and convenient to the airport and BART, and I would stay there again (but in a bed, not that couch!)

Stayed at this facility to take advantage of the park/sleep/fly package. Hotel front desk was friendly and helpful; he even called me 10 minutes after we arrived in our room to make sure things were satisfactory. Hotel is very close to Oakland airport but it wasn't noisy; bed was quite comfortable. I had an early flight, the shuttle was there at 6:15 in morning. My husband took the shuttle to and from the BART station and he said he did not have to wait at all! I have stayed in 5-star hotels and parked at lots near the airport in the past, Holiday Inn Express provides as good, or even better service.

The linens and bedding were worn and did not feel clean. The pillows were totally broken down inside and lumpy. Very uncomfortable. Water pressure in the bathroom sink was so unacceptable I had to brush my teeth and wash up at night using the bathtub fawcett. I picked up a hard boiled egg and yogurt to eat in the car on the way to my office. I bit into the egg and it was spoiled! I informed the staff the next day. I routinely stay in Oakland - many times at the Holiday Inn and Suites. I will return there. I will not return to your property. I frequent HI Express all over the US and usually have very positive experiences. Unfortunately, I did not in Oakland.

I have read a few reviews. If it had not been for America's Cup or the Oracle World conference happening during my last minute trip I would not have picked this property. That said, the price was right on and I get everything that I expect out of a HIE. The front desk staff was a little lacking as rays of sunshine but all in all the breakfast was as expected and the room was perfectly acceptable. There is no doubt that this location, across from the Oakland Airport, is in a rougher part of town but given the same set of circumstances I would stay there again.

Pretty good rooms. Great price. But, that evening, walked into the lobby and there was a terrible smell. It smelled liked raw sewage. I asked the front desk what that was and just got a look like I was crazy. They just shrugged and said "what smell". I know it wasn't just me because there was a group of people that I was with and everyone noticed the bad smell also. When I got up to my room, every time the AC turned on, you could smell it in the room also. On top of that, the thermostat for our room would not keep the room at a pleasant temperature. It was either too hot or too cold. When I mentioned the problem the next day to the front desk, again, I was treated with indifference.

We recently took a trip to San Francisco with family who were visiting from Ohio. Our plan was to spend the night and have the entire next day in the city. Hotel rooms in San Francisco were ridiculous in price - and so many people told us not to stay in Oakland - that it wasn't safe. We decided to stay in Oakland anyways because the room rate was reasonable for the area. The hotel was easy to get to and close to a few restaurants. The staff as the desk was polite and helpful. Our rooms were nice and clean. One room only had a view of a wall that was about six feet away - but since we were only staying overnight, that wasn't an issue. The breakfast buffet was hot and had lots of choices to suit each taste - my two children (3 and 5) were able to find things that they liked and had a great breakfast to start the day. The bed was comfortable - but the pillows are impossible to fix in any way that is comfortable - but that is the same in ANY hotel anywhere. Getting into San Francisco from the hotel was easy (plan for traffic) and convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was great. There is now a pancake machine where you push a button and it cooks and spits out 2 perfectly cooked pancakes. No mess, although the wait was a little long. The usual breakfast fare was good too and consistent with other locations. Having a fridge, microwave and sink in the room is fantastic as is having the coffee maker alongside those appliances. I detest coffee machines that are in the bathroom so this was a pleasant exception to that nasty practice.
Noisy guests upstairs meant ear plugs were necessary, especially late night. Was too tired to complain - easier to get ear plugs from bag. Comfortable bed made it easy to sleep once noise was eradicated.
Overall a great stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cost effective, shuttle drop off to and pick up from BART station were easy, even with luggage. Will definitely stay there again.

Have stayed on several trips to Oakland, and really enjoy this location.
Staff is always friendly and helpful. The Breakfreast Bar in the morning is a great choice and really good variety.
The shuttle service is excellent to park and go to Bart or a local restuarant.

Had a great stay at the Oakland Airport Holiday Inn. The room was clean, cool, and comfortable. We took the hotel shuttle everywhere, and they were nothing but accommodating. The breakfast was good, hot, and had a good variety. The hotel was quiet, but had a great pool and workout room to use. Would happily choose the stay there again.

When making the reservation I requested an early check in. The day before I called to as about it, the day of I called and they said 1:00 would be fine. I arrived at 1:15 and the lady said come back at 2:00. I told her I spoke with someone this morning who said 1:00 would be fine. Then she got belligerent and said she was the only one answering the phone and wouldn't have said that and indirectly accused me of lying. I tried to get her to at least look up my reservation in case my type of room was ready (it was a deluxe) but nope she wouldn't do it.
Then upon check in we requested a cab at 3:00 (from someone else.) When we came down we were informed someone 'stole' our cab but he'd get us another one in 10 minutes. Nbd. Well it arrived 30 minutes later. And it wasn't a cab. It was a shuttle that charged us $30 for a 3 mile 5 minute trip. In fact it was the same shuttle that was stolen from us earlier. We were late for the wedding. And I'm sure the employee was getting kick backs.
