Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Restroom problems 1st time I attempted to use bathroom, the commode was stopped up. Checked downstairs and they could not find a plunger. Said they would check and send someone to room when found. This did not happen and I had to go downstairs in the middle of the night to use a public restroom. The room was very nice and clean but this made my stay a bit uncomfortable. I pretty much use Holiday Inn Express as my hotel whenever I travel and this is the first time I have had this type of problem but it was still a bit upsetting. December 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean and quiet Was a great room, wonderful customer service and very close to the airport. I loved our Jacuzzi tub, but the jets were pretty weak. It was very clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The front desk people were extremely helpful and polite. There was a lot of outside noise, but as soon as the windows and doors were closed it was quiet and I slept like a rock. I was super impressed by how fresh the air was inside of the hotel. There was only a $30 cab ride to downtown. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Oakland. The only thing I'd say I didn't like was that there weren't any 'safe' stores near by, the closest was Safeway 3 miles away. December 22, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location The location makes for a convenient stay close to the airport with free shuttle access. The free wifi is a little questionable at times, but not too cumbersome. The entire hotel smelled a little damp/musty and the elevators needed some new carpet. But for the price and great location, you can't complain too much. The staff was very friendly and helpful. December 20, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room, very convenient to airport, comfortable mattress I was overall very pleased with this hotel. The front man that managed the front desk was helpful, quick and concise. The room was large and well lit in the day, but had good black out curtains. The shuttle service was efficient and reliable. The only complaint I have was the that the carpeting in some of the lobby and in the elevator was very stained and looked dirty. A used Kleenex was observed on the floor of the elevator in the late evening and was still there in the morning. It would seem that the carpeting would be a very inexpensive replacement cost. The front desk manager could have picked up the used Kleenex. December 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Business Travel Excellent hotel if you're traveling for business! I recommend it for sure! December 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and up to date I had originally reserved a room at a different hotel. When I checked in the room was so outdated and smelled old. I immediately contacted Holiday Inn Express and they were able to accommodate me right away! I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel and the customer service offered. The shuttle service was perfect for our needs and extremely close to the airport. December 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by December trip Great place to stay in oakland near the airport, clean, safe. reasonable. I will stay there again. I have in January of 2015. December 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Close to OAK and Nimitz Frwy The Pros: 1. Shuttle service is excellent. It runs from 4 AM to almost 1 AM (12:45 AM or something like that). I was stuck at OAK Car Rental after hours since flight didn't get in until after midnight. I called hotel and they sent the shuttle to pick me up at the car rental, then took me back next morning for me to pick up my rental car. 2. Limited under cover parking for small cars at north end of the hotel - helpful when it rains and when I was there the Bay Area got the rare monsoon rains. 3. Internet service is solid. I could definitely tell I was in the Silicon Valley area. 4. Hotel rooms themselves are nicely furnished. Could use another power outlet near the nightstand or a lamp with the power outlet in the base so one could plug in their phone charger on the nightstand 5. New BART line station is nearby if you wanted to venture into SF without fighting the Nimitz and Bay Bridge traffic 6. You can check out, and get to the airport terminal in 10 minutes, give yourself about 45 minutes if you're returning a rental car. The Cons: 1. Hotel common areas are showing their age. Carpets are worn down. 2. Location is high cost compared to most Holiday Inn Express location I've visited, probably attributed to the overall high cost of living in California. 3. It *IS* Oakland after all. I didn't feel unsafe at all at the hotel, but venturing out after dark is not recommended unless you're just grabbing a bite to eat along Hegenberger. Definitely keep all valuables out of your car. December 15, 2014
