I stay at Holiday Inn Express (HIE)all the time and you learn to expect a level of accomodation. This facility did not compare with the quality of most HIE's.

This is an old Motel with a Holiday Inn Express sign. The rooms are small and old. My bed was very worn out and the room was on the second floor at the end of the pool where every word from the people in the pool partying could be heard inside my closed door room. In the morning a man was sitting on his balcony smoking and coughing every 30 seconds which I could hear in my room as if he were in my room. At 5:30am I went down to the lobby to get coffee and the place was locked and no one around.
I had to walk thru the parking lot to my room because there was no way from the breakfast area to my room on the inside. I would not recommend this motel to anyone and I would have not stayed had my reservation been one that could have been cancelled. As it was I only stayed one of my intended 4 nights. I moved to another real hotel. Even thought she did not change my room number in the system, Taylor was very helpful when I checked. However, the woman in the morning was less than cordial.

If, when you check in and ask about a possible upgrade to exercise your priority club benefits and status, there is an immediate response of "No, sorry". When no attempt is made to even check. Yet, if I were to go online and pay for it, amazingly enough, the rooms are all available.
Seems consistent behavior with several locations, this being one of them. I really didn't even want to ask for my little snack and water afterwards either.....
Holiday Inn and IHG are changing and not always for the best based on the location. I would say drive another 10 minutes if you must stay at a Holiday Inn at a minimum.
Just some thoughts from a guy with nearly 300,000 points this year.

My loyalty card number was not noted on the reservation and had to be added later. The room was not serviced on the 12th. Soiled towels were removed, but beds not made, coffee tray not serviced and upon our return that evening I had to report to the front desk and take some fresh towels and water back to our room. Even the $10 rate adjustment for one of the two nights did not make up for the poor service.
The only thing positive I can report is that the beds were very comfortable.

I stayed on an overnight weekend and was locked out of my room 5 minutes prior to the check out time. When I went to the front desk to activate my card/check out, I was met with complete apathy. No apologies were offered, even after I had to return because the second key that was issued didn't work either. Housekeeping eventually let us in (my family was waiting in the hallway while I went back and forth to the front desk). We didn't plan to cut it so close to the check out time or we would have requested a late check out; but 11 o'clock isn't 10:55. The indifference at the front desk was unprofessional.

Our room was very clean and well maintained. I loved the kitchenette with the refrigerator and the microwave.
The bathroom was clean and neat! I liked having a bath tub that could also be used as a shower since my husband showers but I take baths!
I really loved being able to wash my clothes with the washer and dryer. I wish there had been at least two washers and drawers since one of the occupants left their clothes in the dryer for over an hour, so I had to wait to dry my clothes.
The breakfast was awesome! I loved the eggs and sausage. I loved having fresh fruit! Awesome!!!

I had a late flight into LAX and stopped here the first night on the way to San Diego. The property is very convenient to several restaurants and shopping options. All staff members were friendly. No problem with my room, but the hallways are showing some wear and tear. Parking is limited. Overall, this motel was a good value and satisfied my travel needs.
