We have been staying at this Holiday Inn since Katrina. It is the best. Chris and the other members of the staff are exceptional in helping us and always offering courteous and friendly attention to all of our needs.
Thank you for providing such an exceptional facility.

Had a beautiful suite,very memorable. The staff was wonderful, and did everything to make me comfortable. They showed me a few rooms and then finally the suite that I absolutely wished I could have stayed there for a weekend. Full kitchen /bath/bedroom. I was exhausted from my travel through AL working very hard. Staying night after night in small rooms, with desk chairs that were uncomfortable , desks and lamps that were not good. So very important for me to have outlets and good lighting. A good bed, chair, desk and bathroom and a bonus to be able to cook a meal for myself. More importantly CLEAN.
I appreciated the staffs guidance to the suite. Next year on my travels I will try to arrange my trip to be able to stay there over a weekend.
Thank you so much . I have not stayed in the Holiday Inn for a few years , now I am looking for Holiday Inn Express & Suites on my route, as I cover my last two states .

We enjoyed our stay at the Opelika Holiday Inn Express. I was there for work, and it was very pleasant to have a clean, comfortable place to come back to at night. Breakfast was also very good; the person in charge of the food area did an excellent job, and there was a nice snack served in the evening. We'll stay there again next time we're in the area!

I have stayed at SEVERAL HIX across the country and am usually quite pleased with the Accomodations/Service/Value for the Dollar, but this Location is NOT up to HIX standards !
Several days before stayed at 'new' HIX in Amarillo. Wonderful property in TX btw. I also enjoy checking for discount coupons when arriving in a state, which I did that day. I was going to stay at the other HIX 5 miles away in the same area, but the Book listed this as a NEW property. Cut out the Discount coupon, but decided not to use it, as I enjoyed Amarillo so much.
Front Desk clerk got my info from my priority number and mispronounced my name, using spanish grammar rules, I corrected him twice, but he kept referring to me with the wrong pronunciation.
Got to 'my' room, and there was NO fuzzy throw blanket, very homey touch the fuzzy throw, on the bed or any fridge or Microwave. Other properties have those, and Amarillo even had a second TV in the bathroom. Later on as the evening went on, many of the others on that hall kept moving from room to room and making noise, so I knew the next AM would be the Symphony of slamming doors. Of course it was the case starting I think around 6:30am.
Anyhow, the next AM when housekeeping had all the other rooms on the same hall as mine opened for cleaning, I saw all the other rooms had micros & fridges, and even the fuzzy throw blanket! Wow, and I paid Full Rate for this room.
PLUS breakfast was for Bulimics. NO eggs, they had run out I think because the B'fast person knew about it, but for the 20 minutes I was at breakfast, they were never refilled, Minimal b'fast meats, and the Fridge had NO milk in it. I think the only things in the fridge were the hard boiled eggs and a few yogurts. Yogurt shelf was definately NOT full. Another guest finally asked for milk, and they poured her a cup from the kitchen, which I also did a short time later. Could they have put a pitcher of Milk in the Fridge or out on a counter? Could they have put a note to Ask for milk if desired? neither were done.
It is not like the place isn't close to shopping where they could have bought B'fast food, or walking distance to a Hampton which could have easily lent them some HOT eggs & B'fast meats, if they had asked. Only adequate thing I can remember was the Parking lot was Brightly lit, which I find very comforting.
Also during the morning, the elevators were not working, so everyone had to use the stairs.
All in all, if it was a 'NEW' property, perhaps they should have waited a while to open it, so the property could be finished, and staff trained and adequate inventories provided.
Still Enjoy staying at HIX properties, just not this one, on this occasion.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I have stayed here at least 6 times and every time the accommodations have been clean and my stay comfortable.

You can count on HI Express to provide clean, safe comfortable rooms at affordable prices. I stay in them many nights each year.
Only one thing has dimmed my expectations at this particular facility. they have changed to CF bulbs in the rooms (15Watt = 60 Watt Equiv incandescent bulbs) The desk light was so dim it wouldn't light a bug's butt in the sunshine. I had to go out and purchase a brighter bulb so I could see my keyboard on my laptop and the notepad I was writing on. While I applaud them for saving energy, I stay there for work and have paperwork and computer time that has to be done. Some of the rooms have desk lights that have 2 bulbs. Last week I found one of these lamps next to the bed but a one bulb model on the desk... I moved the bed lamp to the desk and it was sufficient. Not so lucky this week.....
And since I have a choice and there are a plethora of other branded hotels in the area - you get the picture....

I had a great stay at this facility. The hotel looked amazing and the staff was equally amazing and accomodating. I arrived just before the normal check-in time and they were able to get me right to my room without consequence. During my stay, I left an item in one of the desk drawers and I discovered it missing shortly after I arrived home. This staff located my missing item and shipped it to me... Thanks for the great hospitality and the great follow-up with my missing item.

I have stayed here many many times before and it is one of the nicest HIE that I have been to. I travel A LOT for work and that allows me to build up points and travel with my family while not working. That is what we were doing during this trip. We used our points to stay in Opelika that weekend. It was a terrible experience. There must have been something going on in the area. And for hours at night (while my children, wife and I are trying to sleep), there are kids in the hallways yelling, playing soccer and knocking on doors. We called the front desk and she did come up and tell them to go into their rooms. They did for about 10 seconds. Then they sat outside the rooms and whispered as loudly as possible for hours. It made for a very rough night of sleep.
As stated in the title, this review is based only on last stay. I have stayed here on business and for leisure with my family and we really enjoyed it. I am certain that this was an isolated incident. We feel like our earned points were wasted. We could have stayed somewhere else and not wasted our points on this.
The front desk was more than helpful and extremely polite. I do not feel there was anything more they could have done. The adults on this field trip are the ones to blame and should have watched after those kids much better than they did.

Great staff that actually cares about their guests and will do anything to them happy and satisfied. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a clean, safe comfortable hotel look no further than the Holiday Inn Express in Opelika. Excellent value for the money with clean comfortable rooms in a quiet setting.

The hotel is well located with other hotels, close to both Auburn and Opelika, right off I-85. Our room was very comfortable--only problem was there was no lamp for reading in bed. We moved the lamp from the desk to the bedside table, but it wasn't very bright. Breakfast was the usual good assortment found at Holiday Inn Express , except that the pancake machine was out of order. Attendant was efficient and friendly and the desk clerk was extremely helpful with directions. We'll stay there again!

We have stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Opelika a number of times in the past three years, since our son and his family moved to the city. Last weekend, we went up for the newest grand daughter's christening. We were shocked and disappointed to see how dirty the room was. We were given another room, but it was not much better. The hallway carpet was also dirty. It either needs to be cleaned or replaced. I was shocked to see how the hotel in had gone down in just three years. We will not be staying there again.

I travel and have to stay at this location at least once per month.
When I first started staying here about one year ago the property seemed to be well maintained, clean, etc. Since then I have experienced the following:
On one stay I was rented a room that had recently experienced water damage. The ceiling and walls were clearly in need of repair. I shared that with the desk attendent the next morning and was told they were aware of it and that it was scheduled for repair. My question, although the answer is obvious, is why put a customer in that room?
On most recent stay it was clear that the shower had not been attended prior to my arrival as the former occupants shampoo, conditioner and soap were still in the shower stall. There was also an ovious stain on the bedspread.
Internet is often very spotty on this property. Not sure what would be a solution.
Cable/satellite TV is generally fuzzy in most rooms. Not sure of the cause of this. Not sure what would be a solution.
On one occassion the cable wire was damaged rendering the TV inoperable. No maintenance on duty to repair.
On one occassion the cable wire was damaged. The desk attendent went out of her way to secure a cable from another room and bring it to me. Kudos to her.
