Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brian Mark A Suite is a MUST-DO Get Away at THE BEST Express on the Planet!
If you want to get away to the best Holiday Inn Express (HIX) we know, you have to book a suite at the HIX in Orange, Virginia.
This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. With both visits we would hear people say, "This is the best Holiday Inn Express we have ever been to."
But, to make it even better book a two room suite. We had a kitchen, a bar, a living room, a bathroom with a sink/vanity in one room and the same in another, and a spacious bedroom. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi. It had 2 TVs.
The hotel sits on top of a hill on over 100 acres with a fabulous view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A big storm passed by in a few counties to the north and guests came out to the pool area with their cameras in hand. It's a great place to make friends.
All the employees we met there tell us how blessed they are to work there, and it shows. These people know what hospitality is all about.
The HIX is a unique design. There are many private commons areas. It's a hotel, for sure, but it has the feeling of a bed & breakfast. We're told many celebrities make it a weekend get away, and that makes sense.
How could it be better? Guests we meet tell us they want a great restaurant/bar with a patio looking out on the mountains. There is a shopping center a couple blocks down the street with a supermarket with plenty of great beers and wine and lots of natural and organic foods.
How much do we like this place? We back there next week!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tbonejr Pros and cons - great setting
Great setting, amazing view. Staff was very friendly; everyone we met greeted us. The breakfast was very good and the hotel was very clean. It was a little more expensive than we expected for a non-peak weekend, especially when compared to similar brands. The room was large and properly furnished but smelled like it had once been a smoking room. We would stay here again if it was less expensive and would inspect the room closer and ask to switch next time. Wouldn't warn someone away from it but would want to know all this when considering staying here. You will love the peace and seclusion. Our family could have slept for days.

Great place to stay near Blue Ridge mountains. Close to James Madison's Montpelier, offering great tours of his home place. Nice local restaurant choices. If I was in area again, I'd certainly stay here again.
