Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Room not Clean I checked in late and did not check the bathroom until the morning. When I went to shower, there was blood on the bathtub. Because I had to make a meeting at work, I cleaned the blood and showered. I reported this to the front desk manager and he assured me he would personally visit the room. When I returned that evening I found hair (probably my own from my shower) in the bathtub. I did send a photo to the front desk manager. April 17, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable but dated Like many of the hotels in the "Disney" area, this one is beginning to show it's age. Upon arrival we were greeted cordially, but because of apparent understaffing, in a hurried manner as the desk clerk was attempting to answer questions from a Japanese travel group and a resident whose key failed to open his door. Once in our room, the feeling was of a hotel that has been somewhat forgotten and the room seemed dated. We were happy that we had chosen to stay for only one night. Breakfast in the large and comfortable dining area was typical and the restaurant staff were very hospitable and helpful. If one has stayed at a Holiday Inn Express previously, the experience was as usual. All in all, I don't really have any major complaints, but it is not likely that we would stay here again. I'd recommend this hotel only with the understanding that there may be better value elsewhere in the area. April 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not so Happy We only stayed for one night, but our smoke alarm begin chirping at 1:32 AM. The staff member was very prompt in changing the battery. We also found the closet door was not easy to open. We had the same problem with the closet door the previous time we stayed there. Different room, but same problem. The bottom of the bathroom door was splitting and looked to have water damage. The breakfast area was so crowded, that it was hard to get to the food. When we did, the toasters were inadequate, and barely cooked the English Muffins or toast. The Pancake maker did not come across as very hot either. I think the entire hotel needs an overhaul, because it is just showing age. April 12, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Old, outdated. The first room they put us in the paint was peeling off the bathroom ceiling and the room had a very strange smell to it. They promptly moved us to another room. The hotel is just run down and used up. I don't feel it deserves more than 2 stars. The front desk was friendly and apologetic. I travel and stay a lot in HI Expresses so I have plenty of exposure as to what the hotel should be like. April 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Front Desk Staff We were travelling with my 2 elderly parents with one being in a wheelchair. We needed a roll in shower and they were able to accommodate us and booked my family in a room close to my parents. I was quite surprised when Anthony from the front desk called us prior to our stay to review our accommodations. We were grateful for both Natasha and Anthony at the front desk attending to our needs while always being professional and extremely courteous. Room and Breakfast were great. Thanks for a great stay. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location and great value We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had two kids and spent most of our time in the Disney world. Althought we rented a car, we took the hotel shuttle to the park every day. It's a 15min ride. The shuttle stops at Epcot, but there are free buses and trains to the other parks. We also bought the tickets at the hotel, saving the lines at the gate and recieving some discounts. The breakfast is good, and the room is not crowded before 8am. We only brough carry-on luggages, so the hotel's coin-operated laundry machines are great help. When we came back early, kids love to spend time in the pool and there are plenty of restaurant around. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Maintenance=Lack of Stars Our room at the _sold out_ Lake Buena Vista Holiday Inn Express came with the following complimentary accoutrements: 1. Patio door handle that nearly fell off. Luckily I own a Leatherman (TM). Unfortunately, I could not fix the worn and broken lock. 2. Random numbers of towels and toiletries each day (2-10!) for a family of four. 3. Plaster falling from the bathroom ceiling (LOTS!). Luckily it happened in the middle of the night and only startled us rather than landing on us. 4. Seized up bathroom fan. 5. Shorting outlets inconveniently located near floor (every outlet was loose and would short out the light attached when trying to plug in a charger). 6. Stained carpet. Really. Old. Gross. This hotel is _badly_ in need of basic maintenance and some upgrades that have been around for decades, such as desk lamps with outlets built in. On the plus side, the wireless worked and the shuttles ran on time. April 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Deluxe pool and common areas My family of five with three teenage daughters arrived before the 3pm check in and was told our room was not ready. Having traveled a great distance we were frustrated we couldn't freshen up. The hotel clerk was sympathetic and reminded us we could use the pool and public restrooms until our room was ready. The clerk also asked for a cell phone number we could be reached on if our room was ready before 3pm. Although this is a common practice the hotel clerk made every attempt to accommodate us and make our stay more enjoyable. The pool area was very nice and we enjoyed the waterfall. One word of advice about breakfast. The breakfast was well laid out to accommodate a large hotel and we didn't have any problems but our observation is simply to eat as early as possible. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 hotel worn out stayed for two nites, staff friendly, breakfast good, but hotel is in need of repair. rugs in hallway stained, worn looking as my room was the same. beds were confortable. bathroom needs updating. plus is. the location to DW was close. I would look at the other holiday inn, near Disney the next time March 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and great accommodations Our party of three adults and one teen stayed here for a week during a spring break trip to Disney. Our room was on the 5th floor and the beds were really nice, everything in the room worked correctly (tv, remote, microwave, mini fridge, etc). We were surprised but happy to find Bath and Body Works items in the bathroom along with the normal items. In addition the teen in our party got sick with food poisoning not long after we checked in and housekeeping was wonderful with getting fresh linens for us and taking care of the soiled ones. The breakfast is very nice, with plenty of items to choose from. We were at the end of our hallway, but we never heard noises from other rooms while we were in ours. This hotel is also very close to Downtown Disney and the four Disney theme parks. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Disney! March 31, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by READ ME FIRST I don't know what happened at this hotel but customer service is non-existent much like their internet service. My stay at this hotel made my vacation the most frustrating experience I have had in a while. I was not highly bothered by broken bathroom door lock, the busted patio door handle or the falling shower curtain rod. I was a little more bothered by my request for a lower floor due to medical conditions being totally ignored and placing us on the top floor. What really frustrated me was the utter lack of internet service on the Priority club member floor (7). This, I was informed, was not a temporary situation but rather an ongoing issue. If you are like me the only way I can somewhat escape work is by keeping up with work email and NO internet service made this impossible. But the most FRUSTRATING part of the stay was the standard reply from all the desk staff. "I'm sorry but you will have to speak with the Manager, I can't do anything about that". Well I asked to speak to the Manager or have the Manager contact me 5 days of my stay I even asked as we were checking out. Let me tell you I have yet to hear from a Manager. I vacation in the Orlando area about 5 weeks per year but this will be my final stay with this hotel. March 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful overall experience! We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Disney World! The staff are some of the best people that I've ever met in my life! All of them treated my family like we were a part of their family! Our room was cleaner than any other room I've ever seen! The pool/hot tub area was very nice and relaxing after our long drive there! The slide did not seem to be 50 ft to me, but my husband says the way it wraps around it probably is! The free hot breakfast was a huge plus since we went to Disney, and Disney is very expensive! The gentleman that worked in the gift shop was also very nice! He would stop and talk to my family every time he saw us around! The housekeeping ladies were also amazing, when we arrived there was only 3 sets of bath supplies and 5 of us in the room! She went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed everyday, even leaving extras since there was 3 small children in the room! My 5 year old son decided to sneak out of the room while my husband was outside. When his sister told me that he had went out of the room I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Once we got to the front desk, the lady there was comforting my son, telling him it would be alright and that she would help him find his parents! She was so great with him and he has definitely learnt his lesson! Also I loved the way Priority Reward Members had the entire 7th floor to themselves! At some other hotels they mix everyone together and you may have loud people next to you, not here! My family is already planning our next trip to Florida and plan on staying here again and again! We also have already told our family and friends to stay here! They offer a shuttle to and from local attractions which helps with parking! March 26, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lowest level HI Express I have stayed at The top floor "Priority Member" floor was nothing special. I would hate to see the quality of the other floors. I was told upon check-in about a special gift at the desk by the elevators. It was a bunch of sales literature to do a timeshare tour that was avilable to anyone and everyone staying at the hotel. The rooms did not feel clean with lots of cosmetic issues that need attention. The one poitive was the huge breakfast area that was staffed by 2 ladies that were very helpful. Would definitely stay somewhere else next time in this area. March 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfy Beds Holiday Inn beds are always great! The room was a little dated and not new or pristine but acceptable. The water heads in the showers at Holiday Inn's area always great. Our room was next to the elevator and could hear it every time it went up and down. Will be sure and ask to be away from that. The location was great, close to downtown disney and only minutes from the parks. March 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good for business I was on a business trip and it was everything one wants, quiet, clean, next door to plenty of restaurants (chains and non chain), very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was OK, I would have liked more choices though. Would definitely choose it again if on vacation with my family or if in town for a conference. March 19, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel appearance less than average Hotel not up to hi express quality. Bed was not as comfortable as normal, too hard. Rust in places, just seemed old and surface redone in areas. March 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 wonder full stay we had a wonderful stay at the holiday inn express. staff was wonderful have nothing to complain about would recommend this place to stay to anyone. March 14, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staff is great, property not so much First thing that I would like to say is that the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and I give them kudos for that but the property was well below the standards that I have come to expect from Holiday Inn. The photos on the website must be outdated because I had different expectations than what I experienced. The hotel was fairly clean but in disrepair. There was grout missing in the tile in our bathroom, the pool was disgusting, there was sand all over the bottom and was full of bugs and leaves. I have a 2 year old and we were excited for the water slide, which I don't believe it was 50' but I could be wrong, but it wasn't working for the 3 days we were there. The breakfast was acceptable but the dining area was a little dingy, while I didn't see grime it just didn't feel clean. I don't believe we will be staying at this property again. I travel a lot with my job and this hotel didn't match up with the quality I am used to with this brand. March 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Large Room with King Size Comfortable Bed I would highly recommend this hotel to any person possible. It is at an IDEAL LOCATION to Disney Attractions and Universal Studios. Close to numerous restaurants. Price of accommodations were unbeatable.I can hardly wait to stay there again. Their free breakfast had everything you could ever want and more.We have traveled up and down the east coast and have stayed at a variety of lodgings. I will always be staying my next travels in a Holiday Inn! March 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel for Disney World and a great breakfast!! Stayed here for Disney World. Rooms seemed updated and outdoor pool is very nice. Needed a cot at check-in at 10pm at night and one was sent up right away. Located close to Disney entrance and restaurants all around. Best part was expansive breakfast that included breakfast choices for everyone. March 8, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Happy Very unpleasant stay! The hotel looks to be very old the wallpaper is pealing in the hallways. The internet didn't work. I asked the staff about the internet and they said the router is only on the even number floors. They recommended we change floors. We chose the hotel for our family vacation based on the waterfall in the pool. Unfortunately it wasn't working... We were told at check-in it would be fixed in two days. It still wasn't fixed by the end of our six day stay. They mentioned it was too costly to fix. I feel like we were lied to at check-in and they never intended on fixing it. We met a fellow guest in the pool who stays at the hotel regularly and he said in the previous week the waterfall was working: however, the hot tub was not working. We asked for a banana at breakfast and were told they were too expensive to buy so the hotel was out of bananas. It is sad that they didn't want to spend money add comfort for their guests or maintenance to the property, however, the guests are still paying full price to stay at the hotel. On the bright side, they upgraded the horrible cable system during our stay. I feel bad for the other guests. I was fortunate enough to use Priority points for most of the stay. I will not be back to this hotel nor would I recommend it to a friend. I also had a hand thrown in my face for speaking out of turn by the information desk person in the lobby. Very rude!!! March 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed. I came to Orlando for pre-op testing, and needed to stay at a hotel with a microwave and frig. Also I needed to be able to secure a late checkout due to my hospital stay. We were most comfortable at your hotel and made my otherwise difficult two days much easier to bare. March 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good choice for the money! Good location if you are looking to be close to the Disney parks. Lots of great places to eat close by. Cons-this hotel sits beside a strip mall and an abandoned bulding next door, other than that, it was an ok place to stay. The hotel is very clean, the rooms were clean, comfortable beds and free breakfast! March 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good price - good room - fair front desk Front desk must have been having a bad day on Feb 23. Not cordial or welcoming at check-in (just before 3PM). Switch from soap to body cleanser is not suitable for me. I still had to ask for soap each day. Pancake maker at breakfast is cute - but the pancakes are lousy; most hotels have a waffle iron that is much, much better. I sure wish someone would provide a real, local newspaper, by the way... . Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not as advertised Hy husband & I stayed here 2 nights while visiting Disney for a special weekend event. (The Princess Half Marathon). We chose this particular hotel because of its close proximity to Epcot and because their write up stated they had a free shuttle service to the park. After we arrived, we discovered the "shuttle" took passengers to the park in the morning and it was your responsibility to reserve a seat for your return in the afternoon / evening, when you call the phone number associated with the service you never get a human - only "You have reached the Sprint mailbox of" and the number you had dialed. There was no indication that you had even called the shuttle service. We chose to not take a chance on it. Additionally, they supposedly have free hi speed wireless Internet. NOT! We had no signal on the 7th floor and in the lobby a very weak signal. We asked the front desk staff about it but got little more than a shrug. They didn't know or care if it was working. In the evening of our second day both of our room keys had been deactivated so we had to go back down to the front desk to straighten that out. We were never welcomed or recognized as Priority Members and, in fact, we had the impression the staff didn't really care if we were there or not. The room was clean however the building's age is really showing. The shower head was so corroded the stream was a single hi pressure jet. I would not bother with this hotel again! There are too many other choices in the area. March 1, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not my usual HI experience, but OK Clearly a renovation job on an older hotel. Damp, musky smell of the past, but not totally intolerable. The fitness room is seriously lacking, which is something I value greatly. Two broken down basic treadmills and no free weights at all or universal machine. Small fitness space as if it was an after thought. No mention of my priority club status or traditional water or gift at check-in. With this one its all about location and proximity to Disney, which is enough to recommend. I was on business and found it just ok. February 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Close to parks Surprised that this express was not maintained as well as other expresses I usually stay at. Bathroom door was to long so the floor mats would catch. The the wood panel had gotten wet a was peeling up from the bottom. I don't think the elevator floor was ever mopped the three days we were in and out. February 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Happy We stayed here in January when we moved our daughter to Orlando, she is in the Disney College Program. We were very pleased with the staff (except the night maintenance person) but the rest of the stay and staff made up for the bad. We are going back in May and reservations are already made. Jesse (front desk) is very professional, friendly and nice dresser. I like the location, pool and hot tub.I wish I could remember the name of the manager on duty (the first night) who came in and made sure the issue we had was taken care with a smile (at us anyway, not sure she was happy with the maintenance person). February 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Customer Service Upon our arrival we found out that our reservation had somehow been canceled but Jesse(the front desk) reinstated it with no issue what-so-ever. Jesse was deffinately a perfect example of how costomer service should be! As far as the room, the halls were quite warm and I'm not sure why. The room was good for the price but the beds were quite hard. We had a fantastic view from our balcony. The breakfast was adequate but seating was an issue as it was very busy. My only complaint would be we were able to hear everytime our neighbors would go out because the door would slam so hard. Overall it was a pleasurable experience, just wish the beds were more comfy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Couple's getaway We could not have asked for a better place to stay. It was convenient to Disney, shopping, restaurants, & more. Eileen, at the front desk was so easy to work with and made a point of greeting us each day. February 16, 2013
