Starting with the good, the rooms are nice and there was plenty of space. I enjoyed not being stepped on by my husband and son while we walked about the room. The housekeepers are very friendly, as are the breakfast buffet attendants and the fellow working the night shift who brought up sofa linens with a smile. The breakfast itself was quite good! Nice selection, fresh, good quality. That is something I expect from a Holiday Inn Express. The building is lovely and the location is gorgeous.
The air conditioner in the room... Oh good Lord.... The fan would cut off constantly. There was no way to keep it going and it got REALLY hot in the room. I have to sleep in a cold room. This was a huge problem, but after fiddling with the thermostat and just turning it down as low as it could go, we were too tired to put up a fuss. I had already had to call down to the desk to get linens for the sleeper sofa that my son was sleeping on. The only thing in the closet was a bag with two pillows, and one didn't even have a pillow case on it.
Really not so impressed at all with the front desk staff. No recognition as a rewards member, not offered a welcome amenity, not even addressed properly. No eye contact, nothing. She was playing with her cell phone every time we walked by the desk and seemed in a rush to get back to it as we were checking in. I had requested that no folio be shoved under my door in the morning and that it only be emailed upon check out. The folio was emailed at 8am. We didn't leave until around noon. And there it was, sitting on the floor; the folio I had requested NOT be put under my door.
When we left, I had accidentally left my cell phone in the bathroom while collecting our toiletries. I realized this almost immediately after we left the parking lot. Being that I work a full time job, do random projects in Hollywood/LA, and also own my own business on the side, my phone is a little important to have on hand. I called from my husband's phone and the man working the desk said he would go up and get it. When I got there (about 45 seconds later) he had already gone up to get it. While I'm glad he went up and found my phone, maybe it would've been a nicer idea to not make it seem like it was a giant inconvenience.
Overall, not the best experience I've had with IHG.

The staff was very helpful and continued to make sure we had what we needed. I liked the room layout and there were a couple nice guest chairs which I think is important. The bed was VERY comfortable. I always need the internet for work. There was a short period of service interruption but it resolved quickly. The breakfast had a good variety of choices for eating healthy. The workout room was very clean and had good equipment.
