Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Andi49 size of room
The size of the family room was much smaller than the one we had 2 weeks before, so there was no room to sit at the table and prepare a few things for lectures my son had the following day.
Otherwise really pleasant, no noise desruption, probably because we were on the other side of the building.
Much better design of the bathroom area which could be closed off totally, not only the toilet which we had experienced in the room at Kassam Stadium.
Very relaxed breakfast with the opportunity to read a paper.

Great hotel if you are visiting Oxford city or football [right next door to the stadium] but I have to say I was very dissappointed with the breakfast. Limited options and the food quality was poor. I would have thought the breakfast is a key part to a weekend city break away. Other than that the staff were frindly and helpful and the hotel was clean and tidy. Our room was very good with a great shower.

Unlike many HI of any variety this one does not server food in the evening., your only option if you dont want to get back in the car is junk food in the nearby leisure complex

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Helenknits Just what we needed!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for 4 nights over New Year with our 3 year old boy and 4 month old baby. We used the sofa bed for our 3 year old and bought our own travel cot for the baby. We were allocated a disabled access room which meant we had lots of space to accommodate everyone. It was just what we needed to ensure we enjoyed our stay.

The booking was a very much last minute affair and I thought it would an ideal place to stay. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean however that's all the good points out of the way!!
The room was pretty drab but at least it was clean. The points that let it down are the simple, basic thing. Having plastic disposable cups in the room is horrid and it doesn't take much put actual glasses in as well as providing better hot drink supplements!
The bar was closed so couldn't get a drink whilst waiting for a taxi and the breakfast in the morning was even worth feeding to the homeless! The options were bean's and toast, no sausages no bacon and the other option was cereal, the coffee and tea were also rank. There are better options in Oxford even the other Holiday Inn.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NotHappyinOxford Out of the way - hard to get to without personal car
If you are taking public transportation, then this is a difficult hotel to get to. There is a bus that takes you near the hotel but drops you off several blocks away in a nearby neighborhood. Make sure you take Bus #5 to get back to the train station when you leave the hotel.
You must then walk down a lit pathway from the neighborhood past the stadium to get to the hotel. The area is not very well built up on this walk and is a bit of a concern. We made sure that we took a taxi to the hotel after dark. The cost either to the hotel from town or back to town with a taxi ran about 8 pounds each way.
There is a closer bus to the hotel that takes you to town that is cheaper but it runs less often and does not run on Sunday.
The other thing I did not like about this hotel, as a Platinum member, I did not recieve any of the chain's loyalty program benefits. The cost for the wifi access was 5 pounds for the first hour.
The stay other than these concerns was fine. The hotel room was large enough and clean. The breakfast was free and had a decent variety and taste.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by oxfordbuddy Take out eating and comfortable beds
The Holiday Inn Express Oxford actually encourages you to have a take away either chinese, indian, pizza or burgers. This is great as it cuts down on the cost of staying in a hotel, I wish more hotels did this. We found the room clean, if a little cold, but the beds were springy and comfortable and of course there is a pillow menu. An excellent stay and only 15 minutes drive to the centre of Oxford.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nanny1 Room and facilities were excellent
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this hotel, we had a relaxing stay. The room was excellent for our needs and the hotel services were very good. Staff were very obliging and couldnt do enough for you. Room was serviced everyday and left clean and tidy for our return on the evenings. The breakfast was very good but could do with more variety, although there was plenty to chose from it could do with a more variety on the cooked breakfast side ie, bacon and sausage instead of just sausage, also fried eggs and scrambled eggs and maybe mushrooms and tomatoes. Apart from that we had an excellent, relaxing stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by wendyt73 Nice hotel
Nice Hotel in a reasonable location with parking. Not hugely close to the city, however, a short drive to the park and ride makes it fairly easy to get around.
Location is good for eating out with quite a few restaurants in a complex within 5 mins walking distance.
Only downside of my stay was a coach load of extremely noisy oriental tourists who were up shouting till about 2am then up to leave at about 6am :( Hey ho - not the hotel's fault!

Hotel provided an example base for our weekend break to visit Oxford and watch the rugby at the Kassam stadium. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel and room clean and comfortable.
One down was at breakfast - tight space especially in the cooked breakfast area. Disapppointed with the limited cooked breakfast choices for example no bacon. Food not very warm. Problems also with the toasters. Happy to return to the hotel in the future and recommended.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bob666 good hotel physically but not so keen on it's attitude
good bed, good tv good shower
but i'm not keen at all on beoing told i cannot eat food in my room, as a lone traveller i do not like being made to either go out or eat on the breakfast room
also no recognition at all at any point of being a priority club member, not a big issue usually but it's absence is notable when others in the franchise treat you differenetly
