Clean spacious room with comfortable bed.
Reception staff very helpful.
We enjoyed the free breakfast, although the room it was served in got a little cramped, and it could be better set out!
We have stayed here twice, and would do so again, as very convenient for Oxford, and visiting friends and family, or for going to see Oxford United play.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ALM1 Uncomfortable and a terrible nights sleep
We had planned to use the sofa bed in our room but there was no chance anyone was going to be able to sleep on it as it was lumpy and uneven so we decided to bunk together.
Unfortunately the double bed was also very uncomfortable and the room so hot (despite the slightly cooler weather) that neither of us slept well at all. This was topped off by an early morning laundry delivery right outside our window!
We did mention this on checking out and the gentleman on the desk said that the sofa beds weren't intended for adult use.
All of this said, the hotel was clean and the shower had excellent pressure. Hopefully we were simply unlucky with the bed.
Fixed £10 taxi into the city centre was handy and there is a park and ride nearby.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Doraydo Definitely use this hotel
From the time we arrived at the Kassam Stadium Holiday Inn Express we were made welcome. We have stayed there before and the service was good then and is still so. The breakfasts are varied, whether you want a continental breakfast or a simple cooked breakfast of toast, scrambled egg, sausage and beans. The car park is large and, if you prefer to use public transport, there is a 15 minute service nearby into Oxford town centre or the railway station - this removes the problem of finding the park/ride services. If you want evening meals, the cinema complex 5 minutes walk away provides Indian, Chinese and other restuarants. If you wish to go to the Frankie & Benny's, then get ther early - it is very popular. A pleasant free extra is the complimentary newspaper and free coffee, so you don't need to rush out after breakfast.

The family room is NOT really a family room. It has one double bed and a very uncomfortable fold out couch. The location is NOT so good, a drive or bus ride to the city. The amenities at the hotel are very limited.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Enesjay Decent Hotel - Terrible Wifi
The hotel is fairly good given the price – the rooms are clean, the staff is professional and the beds are fairly comfortable. Although there is one major negative – the wifi is completely usable, 90% of the pages time out. In this day and age reasonable wifi is standard in most hotels.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Well furnished room
Excellent bathroom design & layout in a tight space.
Disappointed to find no restaurant facility. The only "eating" places were in the adjacent VUE complex, but did not have anything worth staying for - mostly junk food and/or foreign garbage.
Breakfast was rather poor - "hot" food was a choice of 1 of 2 types of sausage, scrambled egg and beans. Yes, there were plenty of different cereals but not a lot of choice when it came to fruit juice to drink.
I'm used to Holiday Inn stays where there is usually an in-house restaurant and sensible English breakfasts. I would not choose this establishment again, unless really pushed.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ckw6753 Unprofessional clerk and very uncomfortable bed
Upon checking in, I attempted to give the clerk my Priority Club card number. She wrote the number down on a notepad. Prior to checking out, I found that the number had not been entered into the system. The manager entered the number and informed me that I could not get point credit for the two rooms that I had paid for; however, I would get credit for one room. Upon checking my account, I find that I received no points.
The hotel is very inconveniently located with extremely limited access to eating or entertainment. It is several blocks from the nearest bus stop. The bed was without doubt the worst that my wife and I have ever slept on. For a new hotel, they really cut corners on the bed. Everything else in the room was satisfactory.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MrKush Best value for money hotel in Oxford Area
I was in Oxford for a day and was recommended to stay at this hotel. Even though it is a mid-range hotel, the room was premium.
It was good value for money as it is rare have a premium hotel room for a mid range price. Room was nice and clean, shower room was too good to be true.
At Breakfast time, we were treated to a wide range of meals available, I was spoilt for choice.
Finally there is one thing to remember. To get there from centre of Oxford, you either take bus 5 (from New Road bus stops) or bus 12 (Gloucester Green bus stops).
Bus 5 takes you to Pergasus Road and its a 7 min walk to the hotel at Grenoble Road. Bus 12 takes you to Grenoble Road, but it is less frequent at very 30 to 40 mins.
To have a dinner, there are lots of nearby restaurants including a fish and Chps shop about 5 min walk near the Vue cinema building.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JohnKl Kassam Stadium
A very basic to spartan Holiday Inn Express with not a lot going for it except being next to the Stadium. Everything looks cheap about the place and no corner has been left uncut in the decoration and furnishings.
It is well out of town with no surrounding amenities and is suitable for a one night stay if you have nowhere else to go.
Fairly close to the local sewage plant if you happen to work there.
On the plus side it was clean and looked faily new.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by mrbernz Good, but far away from Oxford
This place was great for us as we were part of a large cycling group who needed a place to stay. They were very accomodating in allowing ups to place our bikes in the meeting rooms overnight. The place is far from Oxford, but close by the stadium, so as long as you aware aware of that you are fine. Breakfast is as expected (good but limited), rooms are clean and good. It's a 3 star hotel, and probably deserves that - as long as you are ok with that you won't be disappointed.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed in this hotel and can honestly say it is excellent value for money.
The staff are lovely, the rooms and general areas are well kept and clean and it is only a short taxi ride into Oxford centre.

2 singles rather than 1 double. Am a platinum member, visit holiday inns every week, this was the worst one I have ever stayed in. Unhelpful staff, shower that did not work correctly, well overpriced.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by kimborams Great room, shame about the breakfast
Room very well-equipped, modern and comfortable which we were quite pleased with. However, we were not so pleased with the breakfast experience - no 'greeter' to explain how things worked, layout poor, hot breakfast was only sausage, scrambled egg and beans - no bacon, fried egg, tomatoes, mushrooms etc. Would be better if they had option of no breakfast - this was included in room rate but would sooner have eaten breakfast at Frankie & Benny's!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lotster Not warm enough
A good hotel in a convenient location, however our room was very cold, with only one small radiator which was switched off when we first arrived. Considering it was -1 outside, our room did not warm up sufficiently for the duration of our one night stay.
The breakfast had a good variety of food, however was not the best quality ingredients. Good for the price though.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Andi49 size of room
The size of the family room was much smaller than the one we had 2 weeks before, so there was no room to sit at the table and prepare a few things for lectures my son had the following day.
Otherwise really pleasant, no noise desruption, probably because we were on the other side of the building.
Much better design of the bathroom area which could be closed off totally, not only the toilet which we had experienced in the room at Kassam Stadium.
Very relaxed breakfast with the opportunity to read a paper.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 1962mike Breakfast very poor
Great hotel if you are visiting Oxford city or football [right next door to the stadium] but I have to say I was very dissappointed with the breakfast. Limited options and the food quality was poor. I would have thought the breakfast is a key part to a weekend city break away. Other than that the staff were frindly and helpful and the hotel was clean and tidy. Our room was very good with a great shower.

Unlike many HI of any variety this one does not server food in the evening., your only option if you dont want to get back in the car is junk food in the nearby leisure complex

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Helenknits Just what we needed!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for 4 nights over New Year with our 3 year old boy and 4 month old baby. We used the sofa bed for our 3 year old and bought our own travel cot for the baby. We were allocated a disabled access room which meant we had lots of space to accommodate everyone. It was just what we needed to ensure we enjoyed our stay.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Frazz Better than sleeping on the strrets
The booking was a very much last minute affair and I thought it would an ideal place to stay. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean however that's all the good points out of the way!!
The room was pretty drab but at least it was clean. The points that let it down are the simple, basic thing. Having plastic disposable cups in the room is horrid and it doesn't take much put actual glasses in as well as providing better hot drink supplements!
The bar was closed so couldn't get a drink whilst waiting for a taxi and the breakfast in the morning was even worth feeding to the homeless! The options were bean's and toast, no sausages no bacon and the other option was cereal, the coffee and tea were also rank. There are better options in Oxford even the other Holiday Inn.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NotHappyinOxford Out of the way - hard to get to without personal car
If you are taking public transportation, then this is a difficult hotel to get to. There is a bus that takes you near the hotel but drops you off several blocks away in a nearby neighborhood. Make sure you take Bus #5 to get back to the train station when you leave the hotel.
You must then walk down a lit pathway from the neighborhood past the stadium to get to the hotel. The area is not very well built up on this walk and is a bit of a concern. We made sure that we took a taxi to the hotel after dark. The cost either to the hotel from town or back to town with a taxi ran about 8 pounds each way.
There is a closer bus to the hotel that takes you to town that is cheaper but it runs less often and does not run on Sunday.
The other thing I did not like about this hotel, as a Platinum member, I did not recieve any of the chain's loyalty program benefits. The cost for the wifi access was 5 pounds for the first hour.
The stay other than these concerns was fine. The hotel room was large enough and clean. The breakfast was free and had a decent variety and taste.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by oxfordbuddy Take out eating and comfortable beds
The Holiday Inn Express Oxford actually encourages you to have a take away either chinese, indian, pizza or burgers. This is great as it cuts down on the cost of staying in a hotel, I wish more hotels did this. We found the room clean, if a little cold, but the beds were springy and comfortable and of course there is a pillow menu. An excellent stay and only 15 minutes drive to the centre of Oxford.
