I travel to college towns and DC often and was surprised to see some details not always found in hotels -- such as a ceiling fan. (That's a huge plus for women in their 40s and 50s!). Our family of girls spent time on the Square, touring campus while vacant and visiting Rowan Oak well into the evening. The desk clerk was able to direct us to some non-chain restaurant choices. The area is fairly clean and easy to navigate, but is pocketed off the main thoroughfare where I felt a little hidden and subject to car theft. I was not even sure it would be safe to walk up to Applebee's at the corner intersection with the main drive.
We needed to go to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis to meet cousins the next day. I HATED my last three stays in Memphis, and chose to stay in Oxford instead even though it meant driving the extra hour to the game.

We were able to come back to our room and relax. The staff told us to have a good night every time we left the room or came back to the room. The staff was very friendly and would strike up conversation with us. Our room was large enough for two people and we were able to control the temp of the room. The beds were soft and the bathrooms were clean. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Taustiny Comfortable beds and relaxing atmosphere
My family and I really enjoyed our stay. The location was good. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were relaxing. We couldn't hear the guest in the next room. The lobby area was always clean and the staff was very friendly. This was our first stay at Oxford Holiday Inn, but will definitely not be our last!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DRMS2006 Great staff
I've stayed at a number of Holiday Inns and HIExpress locations. My favorite overall is still the one in Corinth MS. The staff in Oxford is nice and it meets expectations for comfort like all the rest. But the price is much higher than other locations and I just don't see that for a week night stay when it isn't even related to a sporting event.

So I booked here after reading reviews of other hotels in Oxford. I paid a little more to get a better experience. I was wrong. Our room had trash behind the curtains left by the previous guest. We arrived late so I didn't notice it til the next morning. When I told the front desk, they were indifferent about it. It didn't surprise me. When we arrived the night before, the hotel sign was not lit. The overhang was also poorly lit due to non-working light bulbs and the contraption where you're supposed to put out your cigarettes was overstuffed like it hadn't been emptied for days or weeks. Therefore, there were cigarette butts all over the ground by the entrance. The trash can next to the cigarette receptacle was also overflowing, too. Does no-one know how to empty the trash? Considering rooms aren't cheap in Oxford, I feel I grossly overpaid for this hotel. At least the breakfast had nice variety and the location was good. I would recommend staying somewhere else, if possible.

Stayed here for Thanksgiving as it was near family. The staff was extremely nice and the hotel itself was clean and neat.
