New property, and things could be so good. But...
Upon entering the hotel, the lobby is so sparsely furnished you wonder if it is even open yet. No trash cans outside for what we needed to get rid of after a long day´s drive. No newapapers or cookies that we are used to from other hotels in the chain and thought were more or less signature elements.
The room: Hot and stuffy since the air condition had not been turned on. 2 long, black hairs on the toilet seat, one long black hair in the shower and yet another 2 on the floor - I´m sorry, but other people´s hair is such a turn-off in what is expected to be a clean bathroom. Virtually no cold water at the sink, so brushed our teeth in hot water - this needs to be fixed in room # 314! Fridge turned on, but not adjusted so temperature way too high. Went to get a cold soda at the space with ice and vending, only to find out that the signs were misleading - there were no vending machines in any of the floors, just the ice machine.
Internet access: Gotta be the worst connection we have expreienced in years, litterally. The signal was very high, but connecting and staying online was almost impossible - something is not working properly there.
Breakfast: Less products than we are used to from the other hotels, missed the regular instant oat meal without sugar; and believe it or not the little omelettes were burnt at the edges - seriously!! The cinnamon rolls were cold and hard.
All in all we were really disappointed. This was a rewards night, and had we known how long the list of things that needed to be fixed turned ou to be, we would have saved it for another stay - we could have picked any of the competing hotels in the area and not known the difference because this one is still so far from the HIE standard. I really hope management will get this new hotel up to HIE standard; at this particular stay we got the impression the place had been opened before they were really ready for it.
