Room was small, bath had water damage due to shower/tub design. Hotel is showing its age.
Breakfast left a lot to be desired. For the price of the room, the hotel should provide a decent breakfast that is typical at most HI Expresses.
Overall the value was marginal at best. High price for a bottom line basic facility. In my opinion, not up to HI standards.
As to recommending the hotel, only if you can't find a better option. I have stayed at worse properties, it just isn't up to what I expect from a HI Brand.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Algy1der Great value, safe and clean
I stayed at this hotel for a week during the high tourism season (August). As a solo female traveler, a major concern is safety and security. Also, as I had not visited Paris in a long time, I was not as familiar with what are currently considered safe neighborhoods. I found this hotel through the Holiday Inn site and, based on reviews, booked my stay. I felt completely safe and at ease during my stay. The hotel is a short walk from the Metro, and 10-15 mins by Metro from the Louvre, the Left Bank, Notre Dame, Les Halles, etc.
The hotel was clean. The breakfast was buffet-style and excellent, with a good selection including fruit, ham, cheese, eggs, cereals, jam, coffee, tea, juice and more.
My room was not much larger than the bed and desk, and the bathroom had only a shower, not a tub, but I did not come to Paris to stay in my hotel room. The internet connection was a bit slow, but worked 99% of the time.
The staff were friendly. A few spoke fluent English, others not so much, but between my rusty French and their English, we managed just fine.
One thing: if you're in a hurry in the morning during heavy tourist season, you might want to take the stairs rather than the elevator, which can be crowded and slow right towards the end of breakfast. As breakfast and the Internet were included in the price of my room, I feel that I got excellent value for my money.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TKzee Good Value for Money
Clean room, clean bed and good service from the staff. I was welcomed as an IHG frequent guest with complimentary water, snacks and macaroons which was a really lovely touch for a hotel in this price range. The hotel location is good and it's about 20 minutes on the Metro to get to the main tourist attractions.
The building is very old and the rooms tend to be quite noisy. But if you are not spending a lot of time in your room then it is really good value for money.
Very pleasantly surprised.
I had a comfortable stay :)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CAVECANEM Reasonable for Paris
Stayed there four nights on a business trip to the Latin Quarter.
Very reasonable rates. Nice Air-conditioning. Room a little cramped where the end of the bed was close to the desk. Free wifi was a little slow. Breakfast usual French style buffet. Staff very helpful and courteous . Rooms a little tired in terms of decoration but very clean. Big bonus is Metro station is literally 20 metres from door on a line which would take you quickly to the Notre Dame area and usual access to other lines etc.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by rc777 Excellent service and location
Right across the street from the metro and from there you can get to all the major attractions in Paris. Great restaurants everywhere and KFC and McD right accross the street for the kids. Excellent breakfast, we loved it and it was free to boot. The front staff was very, very helpful i was allowed to borrow the electrical adapter for free and on the last day after check out to store our bags until 7PM. I used my priority points to pay for our rooms and got free internet and late 2pm checkout. Front staff was always courteous, friendly and helpful. Sooner rather than later i will be back in Paris and will stay here again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Bad experience
How can you deliver a smoke room for a no-smoker ?
It was impossible to change. Sleep in a smoke ambiant is a very bad experience. So , I'm very unsatisfied for this hotel and if you want a safe and clear room to relax , choose another place.
The proof of reservation was no - smoking room notified...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by myrustica Holiday Inn in Paris
I travel to Paris twice a year and always stay with Holiday Inn chain. Most Holiday Inns including Place D'italie are well priced for this city, clean and stuff professional. Beside France I always try to use the chain while traveling a lot to the US or my home country of Mexico as the standard is very similar through out the world. I know what to expect and it is always good value for the money. I have goold membership card so I can stay 2 hours longer and use my points for free accomodation (I staied in London using my points in January 2013 on my way from Mexico to EU).

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nriv Not worth the money
Staff body language and attitude are very amateurish and rude. (specially the young guy at reception ) . I never experienced so unprofessional and unhelpful attitude from other Holiday Inns of staff.
Extremely noisy room/s. Room cleaning service is radically poor.
The building is old and needs some refurbishment . My overall review is - not worth the money.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RNW99 2nd stay here and was just as good :)
This is our second stay in this hotel and our experience was pleasant. The hotel building may not be the most modern, but in terms of value and location, it's one of the best I could find and I would be happy to stay here again. Location is great, just cross the road from Place D'Italie Metro Station and cross the road from Chinatown with nice food as well as supermarket. The WiFi is complimentary and was one of the most reliable during our travel across Europe. Staff were friendly. Not all of them speak English but they were happy to help when you asked. Reading other reviews about unfriendly staff, I guess these things kind of go both ways - if you treat (ask) them nicely and you will likely get the same treatment in return. My experience found the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast variety was not the best, but I wasn't in Paris to enjoy hotel breakfasts and there were still edible stuff like cereal, bread and jam, coffee, juices that can fill your stomach in the morning.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by paris1 Birthday treat
I booked this hotel as we have been to Paris about 8 times and have always used Holiday Inn hotels. I booked a three day trip for a special birthday treat using some points for my daughter and she was very unhappy and disappointed in the treatment that she received at check in and other times. A female member of staff answered the phone as she dealt with the check in procedure and continued to speak to the person on the other end throughout. My son agreed that the reception staff were very sullen and offhand with them both anytime they asked for help or advice, as if the staff couldn't be bothered with them. The hotel premises were as expected and very handy for the metro, shops etc. but staff obviously need more Customer Care training before I would recommend it to others.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by FQTraveler Comfortable room and location were good but that's about it.
Runs differently than other Holiday Inn Express quality by the fact that the staff is not as helpful, courteous, and interested in your business as other locations. Fortunately, the room is comfortable but there's no other recognition for you as a customer or a Priority Club member, even if you are Platinum. Would be my last choice if there were no other locations to stay.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by firsttimerinparis breakfast staff rude and humiliating
As a platinum number, upon arrival, even after asking, the hotel does not provide a free bottle of water nor a drink voucher. The most unpleasant thing is the rudness of the staff at breakfast.
On Oct. 13th morning, I arrived at 11:20am (the buffet closes at 11:30am), first I was asked to move my food to another table since I was choosing a 'four-person' table rather than a 'two person' table. Then I notice the crossiant are gone and ask the lady, she said no more food will be brought out. Then I took two apples and place on my table planning to eat them last. Then the staff came over, took one apple from the table and asked the neighbor guest to translate to me that I can not take two apples since she thinks I will not eat at the restaurant and will take it away. I insisted that I will need two apples and will eat at the breakfast. Then around 12:10pm, she came over and ask me to leave the area since they are closed, if I like to sit, I need to go to the lobby area. I have my dental braces on and I am a slow eater lately, I can not believe the staff treats guest like this. I reported to the front desk right away and also left my feedback form to them after checking out. I have asked priority club points compensation due to this incident and ask them to consider a better training for their employees. I left my email address, but I heard nothing back from them. This is the worst experience I ever had with Holiday Inn chain and I will definitely advise my friends and colleagues never stay at this hotel. I demand an answer from the management on the improvement actions they should have implemented on this incident. Thank you.

Dear Holiday Express Paris team, Thanks for all your efforts to make my stay the best however I have the follwoing comments: 1. My room was not ready at arrival dispite I reached at 2:00 P.M. 2. The flush in the toalite is not working properly.
3. The telephone line was not working properly.
4. The Shower is not working properly.
5. I was freezing in the room, the AC was not working properly took 5 hours to get the room heated.
6. Some one was digging at 5:00 A.M. beside my room. I think he was doing some mentainance for my adjecent room.
That was too much lower than my expectation. As I like your brand of hotels and more like the city of PARIS, Appreciate that you look into my notes above and try to fix them.
