Minor inconvenience but they worked hard to make sure it stayed "minor". I really appreciate the efforts. I have stayed here several times and I am an HIE Platinum member and this HIE is very good for the price. Always nice and you know what you are getting. I understand they are going to completely remodel and look forward to the new look.

The entire staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome throughout my entire stay. They made sure that I was able to find my way around town, by providing directions. The property is currently going through a remodel and that is why the Facilities was listed as a CON. I am going to suggest this property to any and all visitors and work related people are needing a place to stay. The breakfast selection was very nice, however, maybe having bacon from time to time instead of always sausage patties would be nice.

This property has what is needed for a good night's sleep (thanks to their great beds and multiple pillows), but there were some minor problems that I encountered.
I used the fitness center, which was a small room that barely fit a bike, two treadmills, and a TV. The first treadmill I tried did not go above 3.0 mph, even as I adjusted the speed up to 6.0. The second treadmill worked properly although it appeared to be an older model. The machines were facing a small window looking into the pool and the TV was located in the left corner of the room. However due to the position of my treadmill, I was looking at the wall because the window to the pool did not reach the width of the workout room. To be able to see the TV while running on the treadmill, my head would have to be 90 degrees to the left. Rearranging the machines and/or TV would have provided a better experience. Also, I turned on the A/C and it worked for a few minutes and then stopped on its own. Finally, the swimming pool's heater was broken, so I didn't even attempt to go into the cold pool.
The fixtures in the room were dated, but worked properly. The room itself was great and I had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was good, too.
This property is not the best nor the worst at which I've stayed. The customer service was good as well. It was about 15 minutes from UAB, but cost significantly less than the other Holiday Inn Expresses closer to the University.

Have stayed at this hotel before and it has the noisiest elevator.
At breakfest the pancake machine would not work and the hard boiled eggs were like rubber.

I am a Gold (former Platinum) Rewards Club member, so I have a fairly diverse background at HIEs. In fact, as a chain, they are my "go to" budget friendly, hotel chain. Clean, modern, quiet are normally the buzz words that I associate with HIE hotels. Not here. This hotel is clearly dated. Carpeting is tired, rooms are NOT sound insulated #ask me about the TV shows that my next door neighbors were watching until 2a.m.# and the fitness room is laughably small. That said, I only needed it for 1 night as I was in town for a friend's family memorial service. The staff was very helpful and professional. All amenities were working and the room was clean. Again, for 1 night, maybe an option #particularly if you are not noise aware# but more than that would probably try your patience.

The rooms were great…It's all the services that were not.
* Internet Speed was not hi speed…less than 1 meg.
* Booked room for two days came in the first evening & my key card did not work….the hotel had checked me out…..they did apologize and set me up in another room which was not as nice as the original room I had booked and then they wanted to charge me more for this room….finally I got the same price.
* Coffee for two days at the front desk was cold…even after I asked about it.
*Continental Breakfast was of no use because they open up too late…I had to leave at 6:00a like other business people….they didn't open until 6:30 ….and you could'nt even get a cup of their free coffee…. it was luke warm and the bottle almost empty.
*I had just stayed at a Holliday inn express in CA which was one of the best I have stayed at.
Very disappointed in this Holiday Inn.

We really like to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Pelham, AL, primarily because of the location, but it is a well maintained, comfortable, and friendly location.

Certainly not an inexpensive place to stay. Room was decent and had several restaurants within walking distance. Staff was nice. Breakfast was very bad. Not many folks spent the night (based on number of cars in the parking lot) but not much variety. What was there was poor in that bread and rolls were all stale. Left without eating and walked to Chick Fil A for a good breakfast. I would not stay here again and would go on to Birmingham.

I had the best experience and Brandon the desk clerk was extremely polite, helpful, and courteous. My room was missing some shampoo and he gave me some and offered restaurant suggestions too!

Great hotel and service... especially loved breakfast on Sunday, when those of us sitting in the breakfast room were suddenly joined by Batman... yes, I saw something colorful and turned, and there he was, Batman... OK, so it was an adult man, probably in his early 30's, dressed in Batman pajamas, complete with a flowing cape, and Converse tennis shoes... I noticed this brought a chuckle to the many folks who were there, as two busloads of seniors on a tour had spent the night, and most were there to witness Batman's arrival! Will always remember that... Thanks for the memories!

Front desk told wrong time in comparison to kitchen/breakfast staff for when breakfast available. On a set time frame due to event participation at Oak Mtn. Not on time, cold, and very rude unprofessional staff (one incompetent person). Once came out (20 minutes late) cold and not good. Had they just told us something, other than, "it will be ready when it is ready". Other HI Expresses have been great, hoping this one would be, but nowhere near. Chose this location due to vicinity and supposedly Hot continental breakfast. Unacceptable and disappointed.

Spent several nights here over past few years and was pleased with value and condition of my rooms. This visit left me disappointed with my stay. Room and overall hotel appearance not up to Holiday Inn Express standards. Squeaky and rough riding elevator, hallway on 2nd floor seemed weak underfoot, and overall appearance of my room less visually unappealing than it has been in the past.

Compared to our other experiences with Holiday Inn Express, this was a great disappointment. The bathroom did not have a functioning exhaust fan, the carpet in our room & the rest of the motel was dirty, the heating & air unit was old & settings not operatable, & the elevator had grinding sounds & lurched several times. When we arrived at the motel, young guys in wet bathing suits changed in the lobby bathroom. That was our introduction to the motel.
However, the staff members were efficient and friendly.
The facility needs upgraded to keep up with other Holiday Inn Expresses.
We are definitely Holiday Inn Express friendly and regret that this motel does not meet the standards of the others.

We stayed for two nights for our trip from Atlanta to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama-LSU game. The hotel called a couple days before our stay to confirm that we needed two rooms with two adults per room. The lady that called said that the hotel was booked full for the weekend. We originally reserved two queen rooms, but when we arrived we were put in two king suites! Very nice rooms! And we got them for the same price as the queen rooms! I'm assuming that was due to the full booking of the hotel.
We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the hotel in general. The housekeeping lady was very friendly and patient with us, as we did leave after 11 to head to Tuscaloosa. When we returned from the game at about 2am, the room was clean, new towels and toiletries were in the bathroom also.
I'm not a big fan of "continental breakfast" so I may not be the best reviewer for this. There were bagels and toast, cold cereals, eggs, bacon, biscuits and juices available though. When we went downstairs, most was gone, but then again we didn't go down very early.
We have stayed here before for Alabama home games. The location is nice, right off the interstate, and there are plenty of restaurants, gas stations, and stores nearby. We will certainly return for future home games, as this has quickly become a favorite!

When we checked in I wasn't greeted as a Priority Club member. Was not greeted with any Thanks for staying. The room had no refrigerator and the bathroom had dark rings around the light shades from not being cleaned for soom time. Makes you wonder what we didn't see hadn't been cleaned.The elevator makes a lot of noise and it was that way a year ago when we stayed. I paid twice the rate compared to the nicest place that we stayed on our 4 day trip. When I turned the keys in there was not a word was said to us.

This hotel does not represent the Holiday Inn name. You really need to renovate! I could hear everyone's conversation from all walls that were connected to mine. Could even here my sister conversation from across the hall in the bathroom. We will not be staying there again!

We were on our way to Panama City Beach and after 550 miles of driving this motel was a very welcome rest spot. The location is just off the highway and easy to access. Plenty of eating places close at hand. The motel is older and lacks some amenities like exhaust fans in the bath causing what appears to be mold growth over the tub.
I do not eat the Continental breakfast offered in most of these places, so I can not address their quality.

Stayed here after a long drive. Service was OK, Room had mildew on the curtains above the air conditioner. General not really clean feeling. Most of the time I stay at H.I. Express and have not really had an issue until this one. Maybe it was just an off day.

Stayed at this property while in Pelham for my son's wedding. Everything was excellent. Staff willingly set up a block of rooms at a reduced rate. Good time had by all. Initially was disappointed that there was not a waffle maker at breakfast, but quickly realized the pancake machine was a good substitute and the cinnamon rolls were top notch.

The room was clean. The shower was strong with plenty of hot water. TV service more than adequate. Breakfast was excellent compared to other free breakfast establishments with much variety to choose from. Cooling system was very good, though a bit noisy. All in all an excellent choice and a good value.

My team and I stayed here during the National Speech & Debate Tournament. The staff was available, helpful, friendly and professional. The property is well-kept and the entire team felt good about our stay. I would gladly stay here again. Very convenient. The breakfast is standard fair for HIE. Fine for what it is.

The staff was not overly friendly and the computers were down when we checked out so we couldn't get a receipt, I was told one would be emailed to me. I never got one and then when the charge appeared on my card statement it was not what I was told it would be and that caused a whole seperate set of problems, that eventually got corrected by Guest Relations.
