Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thoughtful staff & great location I spent an evening here earlier this week and appreciated the friendly and thoughtful desk staff who greeted me warmly coming and going to several meetings and at my departure. The location is in an excellent neighborhood for walking and transiting to key locales. First time there. I'll be returning later this month with confidence I'll be treated well. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room, great breakfast, friendly staff This was our first overnight visit to Philly. We had a corner room, nice sized sleeping space but small bathroom. Breakfast was great. Parking garage was a little intimidating for someone like me who has no experience with it. We didn't know that I would have to surrender my keys and car so the attendants could park it. The attendant that we had was extremely nice about explaining how things worked. The hotel staff was very helpful and provided a map of the area for us. We would definitely stay here again. The only negative is that the staff did not ask if we wanted to be in the rewards program. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location but parking is a pain I have always stayed the one in penn's landing because the parking is not as overwhelming as this location, that's no surprise being in downtown central location. And also I was there for St. Patricks wkend, there were a lot going on, it's almost impossible to have a quiet evening because I can hear everything that's happening. Parking, since they allow other than guests to park in the property, so it can get overcrowded. Will I recommend this location? Well, if you dont drive, and want to see everything that's happening in downtown, yes, i would recommend this location. If you are there for work, and wanting to have a nap before your night shift, no, i wont recommend! March 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another Great Stay!!! Stayed this past weekend while in town to see the lonely Sixers. Another great stay, didn't have any problems except for the over crowded garage that was packed because of the St. Patrick weekend festivities all over the place. No worries though!!! Probably won't come back to a Sixers game no time soon, I can stay home and watch the Celtics loose just as bad, but will definitely visit Philly again and will definitely stay here again. Received a lot for the value paid, great breakfast items, why go any where else for breakfast? The front desk staff was courteous and helpful with whatever I needed. It's location was just right, within walking distance to just about everything that Philly has to offer. I'd like to give a big shout-out to Alexis up on the 9th floor, she does a marvelous job at keeping everything neat and clean. You go girl!!! March 19, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very accomadating My husband was in the hospital. They kept him in longer than we thought so we had to extend our stay. Also we had to come home for a day so they checked us out & checked us back in the next afternoon. The rooms were comfortable. The breakfast in the dining room was great. Also they gave us a hospital rate which was surprising. March 11, 2014

I want to thank the excellent staff especially Catherine, our hostess during breakfast, who was a caring shoulder of concern and humanity who listened to me vent about my Mother's illness. She and Gwen, a terrific front desk representative, were both the warm and caring, wonderful human beings I needed during a very troubling and stressful time during my stay. The food was great and the breakfast manager, Carherine, was a exceptional woman! The front desk was accommodating no matter what the request and they all did it with a smile. I am a Platinum IHG member, and usually stay more in the Indigo and Crown Plaza range of properties, but have stayed at and enjoyed Holiday Inn Express properties on a number of occasions. In some places (eg. Utica NY.) the HEI is the best thing going. Here, I selected HEI for its proximity to some very important business, and its being an IHG property. Next time I will either sacrifice proximity or go outside IHG. This property came up short for me. In some cases, literally too short. This property uses the so-called triple-sheeting method, with which I have some issues regarding sanitation, as I have frequently seen the sheeting and the enclosed duvet separate. I would prefer the use of a duvet cover or at least certification that the inner duvet is being washed as well. In any event, the sheets come up only about two thirds of the way to the headboard. This is a real problem for me as I am 6'3" tall. I was essentially forced to curl up and sleep diagonally across the lower 2/3 of the bed. The sheet issue combined with the fact that the only HVAC was an exterior wall unit made for sleep that was not restful. With longer sheets and a good comforter, I could have avoided the use of the HVAC altogether. In fact, given the broken thermostat on the wall for an old central system, I did without HVAC until the middle of the night my first night when I realized there were controls on the wall unit. Then I was able to up the temperature, but only at the cost of the unit kicking on and off every few minutes, very loudly. Additionally, the shower curtain was a bit too short to span the rod. It's not an issue of my comfort, but it is indicative of attention to detail. Along those lines, the shower head looked caked with gunk and less than clean. Combine with low ceilings (7 feet in places), and this place felt claustrophobic to me. Breakfast at an HEI is what it is. Usually the safest bet is a hard boiled egg. Not so here. I have never had an egg with no flavor to it at all: until morning one at this property. Coffee was also very bad compared to other HIE properties I have been at. On morning two, I hit Starbucks for breakfast and coffee. Generally, the Staff was OK. Most were friendly and helpful. Exceptions were when calling down to the desk for a wake-up call. The woman I got on the line when I did so appeared to be offended that I had disturbed her evening. Overall, the property is a little tired. I gather that HIE acquired and refurbed an older hotel. I don't think the refurb went deep enough. March 2, 2014

The Holiday Inn was within walking distance and gave a special hospital rate which was perfect. The room was clean and the check in process was easy and all employees were very friendly. As I could not eat or drink after midnight I cannot comment on the breakfast. February 28, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by overall ok. Room itself was clean. I enjoyed breakfast (they are mostly the same at HI's) I did have a gripe with the showers, pretty shotty really. Caulking was a joke, will most likely leak downstairs in the future. But, the room was really nice. Staff, well they seem bothered by the busy time I checked in. With phones ringing and people checking in they probably could have handled it a little better. Overall id stay again. Dont have the wheel to spin prizes ; ( February 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and comfortable accommodations Stayed here when my husband had surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Was an easy walk to and from the hospital each day. The staff was great, helping me with a change to my reservation when I checked in. The room was comfortable and I slept a little bit better than I usually do in a hotel. There are a lot of restaurants of all price ranges within a couple of blocks right on Walnut St. so it's not a big deal that you can only get breakfast right in the hotel. Parking is expensive at $25 a night; I left my car in the garage by the hospital which has a discounted rate for hospital patients and visitors. Wi-fi worked great which was a pleasant surprise as I seem to always have trouble connecting at hotels. February 24, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kind and courteous staff This is not my first stay at this hotel. I am a patient at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Headache Center and I come down every 4-6 months. Each time we stay all the staff is so kind and courteous. They will go out of their way to be helpful. And they remember us from one visit to the next. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. It is located on Walnut Street in downtown Philadelphia. It is in walking distance to some good casual dining. We have also walked to Reading Terminal Market from there. The parking garage is attached to the hotel so if you're driving you don't have to hike blocks from a parking lot. It is worth the stay! February 19, 2014

The staff was great and helped us with everything we needed while we were stressed and exhausted. They even asked how the surgery went and recommended places for us to eat when we weren't at the hospital. They made the whole event much more bearable, thanks! February 15, 2014
