We came for a convention and had several rooms reserved. It got complicated because the reservations were made with a different hotel chain (same hotel.) We enjoyed the hotel, the food was good for breakfast (no waffles though) and there was ample seating.
Sometimes a pool is part of our agenda, but we really didn't have time for it, so it wasn't missed.
We brought college students and faculty and our own children for 4 days.
We would stay here again.

Philadelphia is the 'City of Brotherly Love', but I surely wasn't 'feelin' the love' at this place!
Most of the front desk staff personnel with whom I interacted couldn't care less if you're standing there needing service. They have an 'I got ya where I want ya' attitude, knowing that their hotel is a popular one. Some are simply downright snooty!
The shuttle driver induces white knuckles on the passengers as they hold on for dear life, while he flies down those rickety old streets of Philly.
The noise level on the side of the hotel that faces the Delaware Expressway is horrendous. Make sure to request a room AWAY from the expressway!
Next time in Philly I'll see if I can find a place with less 'attitude' and more servitude. I'm a Platinum Elite member and have never witnessed this level of indifference toward customers.
I have no idea how this place was rate a 4.6/5 (prior to my review)...

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dbrestel Great Hotel
It was a great hotel and so close to all the sites. Breakfast was great. Since we were a priority club member they updated us to a room with a view of the river. Nice view but VERY loud due to the traffic. I would have preferred a room with no view. I would stay again just in a room on the side opposite of traffic.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Traveler60 Friendly staff
Paid an exorbitant amount of money to stay at this hotel because there was a convention in town. I had stayed at a luxury hotel on a previous visit and it did not cost me as much money to stay there and it was definitely much nicer. The noise from the highway I95 made it difficult to sleep at the Holiday Inn. Our room faced the Interstate.
I did not feel that being a Priority member was very helpful.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ervin60 Comfortable, but brisk walk to closest septa station
Great place, very comfortable, but I was slightly misled by phone reservation crew regarding proximity to the Philadelphia subway aka septa. It is a good ten minute walk and involves stairs. Normally this is fine by me - I tell our kids that elevators are against our religion. However coming in with baggage the situation was a minor problem. Without stuff to carry, it's a fine way to start or end the day. The hotel does have a shuttle and the drivers are friendly. However one morning they didn't show up, it was raining, and I had allowed just enought time to get to the train and then a meeting. Couldn't risk waiting for a cab. Had to make my way through the rain with an umbrella and feet were wet all day.
Nice view across river and great Old City restaurants just that walk away

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by dasman66 Newly remodeled, but noisy
This hotel is newly remodeled and in pristine condition. This is a wonderful location with a great view of the river and Ben Franklin Bridge (assuming you get a room overlooking the river). If you get the back side of the hotel, you overlook I-95.
But the location is also the problem. With the interstate directly behind the hotel, and the Ben Franklin right outside the window to the side of the hotel, you had better like traffic noise, because it is constant.
The staff was friendly on check-in and check-out, but offered no recognition or perks for priority club platinum membership. The breakfast was poorly stocked. I stayed for three days and all three days the breakfast area was lacking. No milk, low on eggs, out of bagels/english muffins, etc. It didn't matter what time (three days, three different times of morning), it was a problem. The breakfast area was also not maintained/cleaned during the breakfast hours -- juice on the floor, crumbs & dirty tables and one morning had overflowing trash containers.
Between the noise and the breakfast issues, I doubt that I will return, which is too bad, because the rooms are wonderful.

What a view of the bridge and water from my room! And though, there is traffic noise (if you must have complete quiet, this is not the location for you), I looked at it as 'white noise' as if I had my home sound spa turned on. No noise of heating/air-conditioning going on and off all night -- WHAT A WELCOME CHANGE from other facilities.
Very reasonable choice for convention closeness also!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JonandKristin Comfort and Elligence in Downtown Philadelphia
The hotel was very well kept, the room was comfortable and overlooked the river with great views. The free shuttle came in handy since it was our first time in Philadelphia, but the hotel was so close to everything that we could easily walk. We spent the first day seeing all the historical sites, and the second day at the art museum and zoo. You will enjoy the hotel and the many things it offers in this downtown area.

Very good experience. Location was super. Easy walk to the historic district and dining.
All staff were very nice, especially the young man behind the desk.
I would certainly use this facility again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hoya Recently open, rooms redone
This is not new construction but a recently redone facility. Great location, first desk staff top notch. Noise from commuter trains could be an issue in some rooms, but the river view rooms are the best. Walk to historical parts of town with fine dining near by. My new go-to in the Philadelphia area.
