Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Showing age. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years when visiting family. There is a train across the river behind the hotel and it does run through until about 11:30pm and blows the horn as there is a crossing there. That doesn't bother me as I grew up there and I am used to trains and large trucks going by. However, the other problems with this stay started to nag on me. First, I was booked on a floor that was completely under rennovation and had to be moved to a room that wasn't what I booked and was a "former" smoking room that reeked of stall cigeratte smoke. The staff moved me the next day to a room that was of the type I booked, but still had the to move all our stuff and the room still had a slight odor from being a "former" smoking room. Rooms are either smoking or non-smoking, DO NOT try to convert unless you gut the room of everything. Next the automatic doors stopped working and had to be pushed open by hand for the last several days of the stay. Not doors with handles, but center open slide doors. The staff continually apologized and I know it is not their fault, but still a problem. Finally, a minor nag. In every IHG hotel that I stay, when I check in they always comment on the rewards program and frequently specifically mention the level of rewards member. I don't require this, but you do come to get used to that, especially as a Platinum member. Good points, the breakfast is better than most I have had at Holiday Inn Express and the lady that runs it in the mornings is very friendly, in fact, the entire staff was very friendly and trying to make the best of the situation. Since I stay in hotels a lot and most of those are IHG properties, I will most likely stay here again, but will ask more questions next time rather than just booking through the website. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Will not stay anywhere else in Pikeville This is my third time staying here and it seems to get better every time I stay. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and a full breakfast bar is all I need. Sure with a hotel located between the main highway and the railroad track I can be a little noisy, but it beats staying at some place by the hotel. Location is difficult to find an entrance to the property, but not enough to give a negative review. December 31, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stickman This stay was up to it's usual standard. I stay at this hotel whenever I'm working in the area. I enjoy staying because the staff always greets me as one of the locals. The staff is always friendly and the hotel is always clean. If I encounter a small defect , I address it to the front desk which makes a report to correct it. Realizing this is not my house but a resting place, I appreciate the care that is given me.
