That being said, everyone there was very nice and our room was clean and quiet. Even being on the first floor, we were not bothered at all by other guest walking around. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Choice for Family or Business Holiday Inn Express always seems to provide excellent comfort and value when traveling away from home. Almost as important as a clean comfortable room is consistent and reliable internet service. You won't have any problems at the Holiday Inn Express in Pittsburg. I originally did have some problems obtaining a strong enough wireless connection so I called the front desk and asked if they had an ethernet cable for an ethernet connection provided at the desk area. Yes, they did and I didn't have any problems after that. Good, reasonably speedy, consistent internet connection. And the room was very comfortable. The beds were comfortable with several types of pillows to choose from. The continental breakfast wasn't anything beyond average but there were choices of hot and cold breakfast items that were decent and filling. When visiting again I won't hesitate to choose Holiday Inn Express in Pittsburg Kansas. September 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by our stay at the hotel The hotel room was hard to keep the temperature regulsted to a cool comfortablle temperature. The pool was over chlorinated. it was burning a lot of peoples eyes. The hot tub seemed over hot. A lot of people had trouble staying in it. Thr hot tub was foamoing over a lot. Which means either to many skin cells floating in the water, or the ph balance was way off. The guys checked the tub & said " Oh its foaming up because the jets are on". We have a hot tub. Stupid we are not. They acted like they didn't care. There is a chemical for tubs to neutrilize the foam. But staff ddidn't even bother! The front desk girl wasn't the nost smiling & friendly either. The food staff at 9:30 had run out of most everythiing. I went & told the front desk because couldn't find staff. People were pouring in to get something to eat. Nothing was there. It took them 15--20 min to get stuff in there. Folks were not to happy! Kids were getting hungy & restless as were the adults!! Location & cost were good. thats it! just because it's a holiday weekend, does'nt mean staff shouldn't give their best! September 4, 2013

The only negative I can think of is the overwhelming smell of chlorine when we first entered the lobby. Even with that said, we will look forward to staying there again. August 19, 2013

The pool area was clean and luckily, deserted when we visited. The breakfast had many options and we were very satisfied. The staff at breakfast was very friendly, the desk staff was somewhat cordial. I would recommend staying here. August 16, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Very Happy 4th of July and Very Happy Stay This was our second time to stay at this location. They were good back in 2011...but they are excellent now. Our original room smelled like smoke to us but this is a smoke free hotel. I called the front desk to complain and they didn't hesitate for a second and upgraded us to a nicer room at no extra charge. The staff was professional and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again. As far as the free breakfast...I just don't like the food served at any of the Holiday Inns. My husband loves their cinnamon rolls and coffee and the other guests seem to like it. A very nice place to stay. July 14, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does Not Accept Pets!!!! The hotel is modern and beautifully equipped. However, when I checked in I inquired as to why they didn't accept pets. Instead of receiving an explanation and empathetic reply from the front desk clerk they copped an attitude and stated that I could stay at the competing hotel located across the street which accepted pets. As a long time Priority Club Platinum member I was taken aback by the response. I don't understand why pets are not accepted. This is one over the very few Holiday Inns that don't allow pets. I am a single person and like to travel with my little 7 lb. Maltese, who is caged during the day when I am at work. The other Holiday Inns at which I stay, that allow dogs, all enjoy my dog and, in fact, the housekeeping staff have left nice notes in my room stating how they enjoyed cleaning my room while having a little observer. I am hopeful that this hotels management will rethink their policy on not allowing pets. April 4, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Invasion of privacy This is the second time I have stayed here. Both times I have asked for and been granted a late checkout. Each time I have placed the "do not disturb" sign in the door key. Yet, each time the maid has not only knocked, but taken the "do not disturb" sign out of the door key and unlocked the door and entered the room without permission 1 1/2 - 2 hours prior to the late check out time. Each time she has proceeded to state that we needed to be out of the room despite the late check out. Entering the room when there is a "do not disturb" sign in the door key is a complete invasion of privacy. The management needs to insure that this type of action is not tolerated. December 18, 2012
