Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff, Great Room From the front desk to the cleaning staff to the breakfast lady, the staff was warm, welcoming, helpful, and a pleasure to deal with. The room (we needed an accessible room for my very elderly mother and not-quite-as-elderly me) was roomy, comfortable, well-appointed. The only small difficulty is that the room has a low toilet stool and its grab bar is located at the back of the tank rather than to the side. Fortunately, Chris at the front desk had told me about the low (non ADA) stool so I brought our travelling toilet bars which we needed. The off highway location was quiet, the black-out curtains locked out the light, our view of the rising moon and the rising soon when we opened them was lovely. The staff recommended and gave us directions to a great Italian restaurant that was very easy to get to at the end of a long day in the car. This is now my first choice for a stay in Plainview. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Unprofessional staff Hotel is a typical HIE with young unfriendly staff. The front desk clerk that checked me in did not acknowledge me, or my IHG status. She barely even spoke to me during the check-in process. There was a man standing at counter talking to her (which I'm assuming was her BF) and it appears that I interrupted their conversation. I wan never acknowledged as an IHG member nor offered any amenities. The hotel itself is ok. If you plan to use the hot tub - DON'T BOTHER!!! The pool water is warmer!! No other problems encountered. There was no one at desk when I was trying to leave, so after approximately 5 minutes of waiting, I finally left without checking out. Don't expect professional service at this hotel. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service at breakfast and clean room I was skeptical staying 40 miles from Texas Tech after we dropped our daughter off there. But I was pleasantly pleased with my stay overall for the one night. The breakfast staff was excellent. They were very attentive and accommodating. They made sure we had hot coffee and fresh pastries, even at the end of the breakfast hour. The bathroom was modern and updated with all the amenities provided. Our King room was clean. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Smokers in Adjoining Room This is supposed to be a 100% smoke free hotel. Our first two nights were very pleasant, but we had heavy smokers check into the adjoining room half way through our stay. Smoke was pouring through the connecting door into our room. We contacted the staff who provided us with towels to stuff in the door cracks, but they would not ask the guests to stop smoking. We were told they had no other rooms. When we went to the desk to checkout they suddenly had another room available. It was a much smaller room with a King bed that we were charged the same rate as our previous Double Queen suite.
