Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not great Toothpaste smeared on the bathroom wall and a toilet that was a struggle to flush. A freshly painted room - nice - told this on arrival. The paint smell was still fairly strong. Information given on breakfast times on arrival was incorrect. They alter times from sunday morning to week mornings. We were only told WEEKEND times so missed out on any breafast on the monday by ten minutes. We got a few "sorry's" and that's it. many visits to Poole but my first stay at the Holiday Inn. Was surprised their service was so poor. I'd swerve staying here in future. January 30, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great hotel, shame about front of house! We enjoyed our room and the facilities, issues were dealt with quickly. During our stay we found the front of house staff to be abrupt and impersonal like we didn't matter. Considering this person was our first contact at the hotel, a smile and a welcome greeting would go a long way. (she could learn a lot from the staff at kettering!) The house keeping staff were brilliant, very friendly and couldn't accommodate enough for us, thank you:) January 14, 2014

One suggestion is could they provide bacon for breakfast sometimes instead of sausages every time otherwise good food. January 9, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bed too soft. small room for a family room The main bed was too soft. We ended up using sofa bed while our son had the main bed. Same bed sheets for 3 nights. Room was too small to class as a family room. Room was not clean, carpets not hoovered through out our 5 night stay. Aircon/heating was noisy during the night. A bath would have been expected for a family room not just a shower. Not enough storage for a family room. Plenty of parking. Free wifi. Undercover front entrance. January 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable, value for money stay. We (family of 4) had a very enjoyable 2 night stay between Xmas and New Year. The staff were very friendly and helpful and worked hard to keep up with the breakfast surge. Occasional lack of cutlery and white bread for toast. Both of which were replenished as soon as a member of staff was free. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable and we all slept well. Will definitely return again and can recommend to anybody staying in the Poole area. One tip, make sure you ask how to use your room entry swipe card before you leave reception....which way up, which way round, etc January 3, 2014

Very helpful staff, perfect location, immaculate room, breakfast bit mad but think they were at full capacity. Will definitely use again, probably next Xmas, and would thoroughly recommend. Thankyou! The duty manager and the food guy (Billy) were extremely friendly ,helpful and also interested in why we were there and what we were going to be doing. They made the children ( 7 and 3) very welcome and interacted just as much with them as they did with the adults !! I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone and if we ever venture to the south coast agin then we will definitely choose this hotel. January 1, 2014

My room was excellent and very comfortable, the Christmas card under the door on Christmas morning was a lovely touch and the staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, all this for a very competitive price, what more can you ask? A special 'thank you' to Kamil and Robert who greeted me with a cheery smile each morning and were anxious to be helpful. December 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very friendly staff Staying over Xmas is probably not the fairest judgement of a budget hotel. However the front of house staff were very helpful and friendly. When I was unable to get any meal in Poole on Xmas day they even offered to prepare me some food! The only criticism I have is that in trying to do a hot breakfast the basic cereal/yogurt/fruit offering was a bit lacking in choice for example only one fresh fruit option - oranges. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Express Poole We are familiar with the area and wanted to take a break in Poole. The quality of the hotel was excellent although we did not have a lot of contact with the staff they were polite and had a ready smile. The breakfast was what we expected with no frills. We did not make use of the restaurant in the evening but the menu and prices were reasonable. If a similar offer is found during 2014 we will try to advantage and maybe stay more than two nights!! The staff here are super friendly and uber helpful which has really been nice while being away from home. The facilities are as expected- basic but comfortable. The executive rooms have had great refits and are far more pleasing on the eye than the basic rooms, although if you're not worried about colour schemes... The comfort level is the same! The chilly checkout was in contrast to the wonderful warm welcome we received from 2 gentlemen on the check in desk. The staff here are extremely helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was perfect, self service and simply good. It was all we wished for. We only stay in properties that included a breakfast and this is what encouraged us to stay. Highly recommended. The bar staff were pleasant, but apparently unable to charge drinks to rooms, which meant having to pay cash - inconvenient. As a place to stay that was convenient for my daytime location, this was fine; but it was quite expensive for what it offered. December 4, 2013

No heating in the bathroom and only heating in bedroom was heating mode of noisy air con unit. Breakfast uninspiring - no porridge - and only cut up oranges as fruit option. The lift was a bit small and slow to respond and the car parking is scattered around the hotel. I had a problem with my meal which wasn't fully resolved at the time. I had to prompt the staff for a response, then some 24 hours later got a reply. I emailed the manager but got a response from the duty manager, a bit odd but ok. Any how the hotel Ok and was satisfied with the stay. December 3, 2013

Holiday Inn Express sets high standards for the money and that is why we stay at them if they are conveniently located and this hotel was no exception except for a few annoying niggles during this stay. The first was that even though we booked weeks in advance, the top floor room we requested was not provided and I was dealt with "cold efficiency" at reception whilst being allocated a 1st floor room. Unfortunately we were subjected to an insomniac elephant in the room above us for the night of our stay. The second was that the towels were like sandpaper and if we stay here again will bring our own. The third was that the usual free breakfast provided was the same as in other HIE's except that the scrabbled egg was made with powdered egg, or at least it seemed like it. How much do real eggs cost? this is not a good direction for the hotel to save bucks and literally left us with a bad taste in the mouth. Otherwise the hotel was fine and the experience has not put us off using this Hotel chain again. December 2, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Will not stay again Booked in 11.15 pm,quick and efficient,room clean, bed comfortable.booked early morning call to go to church,no call so missed the service,hey ho off to breakfast. No bacon, no fried eggs etc, just sad looking hash browns,rubbery lukewarm scrambled eggs,warm beans,not my idea of a cooked english breakfast,so decided to have toast,and coffee,toast came out warm and underdone,second time round the machine it came out black,, coffee yuck. . Decided to have cereal,forgot spoon and by the time i got back to the table,the waiter had cleared everything off the table. Gave up and went to the local cafe foe a bacon sarnie November 26, 2013

Dining facilities are fairly basic here and not up to level of competitors we have stayed with. Beds are not kingsize which we are used to at home and other competitor hotels. Staff helpful when they were needed. On these points we felt this Holiday Inn at least, was slightly over priced. We would use again if going to the Lighthouse Theatre. November 22, 2013

Our room had no heating although we were given a heater and I left my charger in the room and it seemed to disappear into thin air which I was most annoyed at. Arrived late in the evening to find that we had been given a double room. This obviously wasnt suitable as I had absolutely no intention of sharing a bed with my 18 year old son!!!!!! Went back downstairs to ask for a twin room and reception said the hotel was then full!! Ended up with someone coming up and making up the sofa bed for my son to sleep on!! Only booked this hotel because it was offering "twin room" .......................... "Annoyed"!! November 19, 2013
