I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Poole over Christmas while visiting my son. My room was excellent and very comfortable, the Christmas card under the door on Christmas morning was a lovely touch and the staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, all this for a very competitive price, what more can you ask?
A special 'thank you' to Kamil and Robert who greeted me with a cheery smile each morning and were anxious to be helpful.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by C11EMK Very friendly staff
Staying over Xmas is probably not the fairest judgement of a budget hotel. However the front of house staff were very helpful and friendly. When I was unable to get any meal in Poole on Xmas day they even offered to prepare me some food!
The only criticism I have is that in trying to do a hot breakfast the basic cereal/yogurt/fruit offering was a bit lacking in choice for example only one fresh fruit option - oranges. Excellent location within walking distance of the Quay.

Great stay at HI Express Poole, the hotel were having a slight problem with the heating in some rooms when we arrived so we had to wait a little while until this was sorted but have to say a HUGE well done and thankyou to Robert and Kamil (hope this is the right spelling) as they both looked after us and others so very well.

It is always good to know that whenever we use an Holiday Inn Express we know that we can expect the same quality and care wherever it is.

We are familiar with the area and wanted to take a break in Poole. The quality of the hotel was excellent although we did not have a lot of contact with the staff they were polite and had a ready smile. The breakfast was what we expected with no frills. We did not make use of the restaurant in the evening but the menu and prices were reasonable.
If a similar offer is found during 2014 we will try to advantage and maybe stay more than two nights!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Frns Super friendly/ helpful staff
I have been staying at the Holiday Inn Express for some weeks now on business. The staff here are super friendly and uber helpful which has really been nice while being away from home. The facilities are as expected- basic but comfortable. The executive rooms have had great refits and are far more pleasing on the eye than the basic rooms, although if you're not worried about colour schemes... The comfort level is the same!

Stayed here for 2 nights last week. The chilly checkout was in contrast to the wonderful warm welcome we received from 2 gentlemen on the check in desk. The staff here are extremely helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was perfect, self service and simply good. It was all we wished for. We only stay in properties that included a breakfast and this is what encouraged us to stay. Highly recommended.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Marion11 Comfortable bed and tepid shower
The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The shower was disappointingly feeble, and did not get warm enough. The bar staff were pleasant, but apparently unable to charge drinks to rooms, which meant having to pay cash - inconvenient.
As a place to stay that was convenient for my daytime location, this was fine; but it was quite expensive for what it offered.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Angstroms Mediocre and expensive
For over £80 per night the experience was little more than mediocre. No heating in the bathroom and only heating in bedroom was heating mode of noisy air con unit. Breakfast uninspiring - no porridge - and only cut up oranges as fruit option.
Bedroom and bathroom clean and friendly staff.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Farlington Was Ok
Nice new looking hotel, good location, stopped here en route from Portsmouth to Portland, easy to find. The lift was a bit small and slow to respond and the car parking is scattered around the hotel.
I had a problem with my meal which wasn't fully resolved at the time. I had to prompt the staff for a response, then some 24 hours later got a reply. I emailed the manager but got a response from the duty manager, a bit odd but ok.
Any how the hotel Ok and was satisfied with the stay.

Very low water pressure - so the shower was dreadful.
Otherwise the hotel experience was OK.
Would recommend this due to location

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Steamclips Experience up to standard except..........
Holiday Inn Express sets high standards for the money and that is why we stay at them if they are conveniently located and this hotel was no exception except for a few annoying niggles during this stay. The first was that even though we booked weeks in advance, the top floor room we requested was not provided and I was dealt with "cold efficiency" at reception whilst being allocated a 1st floor room. Unfortunately we were subjected to an insomniac elephant in the room above us for the night of our stay. The second was that the towels were like sandpaper and if we stay here again will bring our own. The third was that the usual free breakfast provided was the same as in other HIE's except that the scrabbled egg was made with powdered egg, or at least it seemed like it. How much do real eggs cost? this is not a good direction for the hotel to save bucks and literally left us with a bad taste in the mouth. Otherwise the hotel was fine and the experience has not put us off using this Hotel chain again.

Booked in 11.15 pm,quick and efficient, room clean, bed comfortable.booked early morning call to go to church,no call so missed the service, hey ho off to breakfast.
No bacon, no fried eggs etc, just sad looking hash browns, rubbery lukewarm scrambled eggs, warm beans, not my idea of a cooked english breakfast,so decided to have toast, and coffee, toast came out warm and underdone, second time round the machine it came out black,, coffee yuck. .
Decided to have cereal, forgot spoon and by the time i got back to the table, the waiter had cleared everything off the table.
Gave up and went to the local cafe foe a bacon sarnie

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Grandpa2 Convenient location
Location excellent for Poole Lighthouse Theatre and short walk to town and quay. Dining facilities are fairly basic here and not up to level of competitors we have stayed with. Beds are not kingsize which we are used to at home and other competitor hotels. Staff helpful when they were needed. On these points we felt this Holiday Inn at least, was slightly over priced. We would use again if going to the Lighthouse Theatre.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Carolme77 Bed had a lump in it and gave me a backache
I have stayed at this particular Holiday Inn many a time but the last couple of times have been very disappointing. Our room had no heating although we were given a heater and I left my charger in the room and it seemed to disappear into thin air which I was most annoyed at. I have nothing further to add

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 123Angela123 Annoyed!!....................................
I booked a "twin room" a few days in advance (on the hotel web page) for myself and my son. Arrived late in the evening to find that we had been given a double room. This obviously wasnt suitable as I had absolutely no intention of sharing a bed with my 18 year old son!!!!!! Went back downstairs to ask for a twin room and reception said the hotel was then full!! Ended up with someone coming up and making up the sofa bed for my son to sleep on!! Only booked this hotel because it was offering "twin room" .......................... "Annoyed"!!

rooms were clean but basic. Shower fell off the wall - needs some maintenance upkeep! the room was also cold - and the heating system so confusing that in the end when it would not warm the room - we were given an electric heater instead.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Squirrels Good shower, shame about the bed
We stayed in an Executive room and whilst the shower was better that some I've experienced in hotels, the bed was far too soft and very uncomfortable. The mattress on the sofa bed that my children slept on was incredibly thin and also uncomfortable.
Breakfast choice was good. Staff very friendly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hannah140291 a great relaxing break
Had a lovely few days (during half term as I am a teacher) in this hotel. It was quite busy but never really heard any noise. Very close to shops and amenities, although not the prettiest area for a hotel. It was clean and breakfast was nice with lots of variety. Would definitely recommend.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with the food menu unfortunately was very limited, which would have been fine for an overnight stay. For longer stays it was inadequate, the breakfast was also very basic but about par for an Holiday Inn Express.
The room was clean but could have done with a overhaul, there were some issues with the room that were quickly sorted by the very helpful staff.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FamilyGuyandGal Excellent stay, great nights sleep, very friendly staff
We stayed here on 27 October 2013 for an overnight visit for a wedding we attended in the area.
The staff on check in were very friendly and helpful and our room was ready made up with the sofa bed open for the children to sleep on.
The receptionist called us a taxi that evening and although she was gone by the time we returned, she remembered and greeted us the next morning.
We had a very comfortable nights sleep and although the breakfast wasn't hugely varied with only a few hot items, there was plenty for all of us especially considering we only came down 15 minutes before breakfast was due to end.
The staff at breakfast were swift to clear up as soon as people left their tables so it was as clean and tidy as possible, and one gent came over and chatted to our children to see if they were having a nice stay.

Widows have poor sound insulation and curtains are too narrow and do not block out floodlighting from the front car park. Hotel is also alongside a railway track. Duvet totally inadequate for two people. Has no overlap and just covers small 4foot 6inch double. Found absolutely no difference between soft and firm pillows. However, the bed was comfortable.
Unable to obtain a proper meal before 6pm which is not satisfactory when you are attending a theatre at 7pm. Prior to 6pm - very limited 'snacks' only. Breakfast facility below average - no tables laid up and no waiter to allocate a table. One has to secure a table while the other gets breakfast! Table wet after cleaning - not dried off. A very limited choice of cooked breakfast and sausages dripping in grease. Cereal choices were good.
Used this hotel only because it is in walking distance of the Lighthouse Theatre we were visiting. However, compared to two other 'budget' establishments in the town, that guarantee a good nights sleep, I'm afraid to say that this one is very much down market.

The staff are exceptional. The manager, Mr Gupta and the young Polish man on reception on our arrival on 23 October, unfortunately we never did find out his name, was very helpful and obliging. Both are a credit to Holiday Inn Express. Many thanks.

We stayed at this hotel as we had caught the fastcat to Guernsey for the day and wanted a stopover on our return.
I have reviewed quite a few hotels, but I have to say this one far exceeded our expectations.
I have been to many Holiday Inns and Expresses and NONE of them came even close to this HIE.
The building looks comparatively new and the car park was spacious. The entrance lobby was spotless and welcoming - a theme that continued throughout the hotel. Staff were prompt and courteous and we had a drink in the enormous bar area before retiring. Our room was immaculate with many nice little touches which would put many 4 star hotels to shame.
Needless to say we had a good nights sleep followed by an above average breakfast before checking out in the morning.
I would highly recommend this hotel if you are in this area and look forward to staying here again.
