On arrival i pointed out that the quilt which was supplied was inadequate for the bed as it just covered the top surface. The response was that all the rooms are now like this. I have used the company for many years and have not come across any hotel which does not have the adequate bedding . It was a very cheap quilt which does not support the cost to stay in the holiday inn express brand.

Having stayed here before for an odd night booked again, unfortunately this time round was not so good. The first room we were allocated had the noisiest air-con unit you have ever heard so had to go to reception and moved to another room, the next room we were allocated was fine, apart from not being far from the lift/stairwell so were woken umpteen times during the night by noisy guests who have no consideration for other guests who wish to be asleep at 1am, 2am, 3am, - you get the picture!
After a bad night with little sleep ventured to breakfast at 9.15am – that was a mistake as every other guest must have chosen that time as well, there were no seats available and it felt more like a MacDonalds Kids party than a quiet Sunday breakfast due to the noise and amount of children in the restaurant, eventually found seats but the quality of the food was very poor, for the hot selection there were only 4 items, (shrivelled sausages, grey scrambled eggs, baked beans, some type of bread) there was not a mushroom, tomato or rasher of bacon in sight and those items that were available you would not have wanted to eat anyway. We will certainly be looking at other options next time we come to Poole before we would use this hotel again, granted it was the last weekend of the school half-term break but that does not account for most of the faults that we have mentioned above, if breakfast is to be included in the cost of the rooms then it needs to be of a much higher standard than the one offered and there needs to be enough seating available for people to enjoy breakfast without feeling rushed to leave as others are needing the tables.

After a long journey it was a pleasure to be greeted by a friendly face, Abi the General Manager who I knew from HI Exp Epsom when he was manager there and I spent a considerable amount of time there on a previous work contract.
The hotel epitomised Abi, friendly staff, knowledgeable and nothing too much trouble. i will definately stay when back in area.

This hotel is perfectly placed for Poole town centre and it is just a short walk to the harbour. The bus station is 5 minutes away.
The room was spotless room and the service excellent. The evening meals were very good with plenty of choice.

As per my previous experience with this chain the quality is good, staff very helpful, parking free & convenient, restaurant and breakfast good.
My only complaint would be the noisy heater/air con unit in the room but as I turned it off at night it was not a real issue for me.

We spent an extremely comfortable night here, myself, my husband and our 12 year old son. We all slept well and had a very filling breakfast. The staff were always accomodating and polite.
The hotel itself is also within a 2 minute walk of the Lighthouse arts centre so is well situated if seeing a show.

Stayed on business for just one night. One of the best Holiday Inn Express hotels I have stayed in. The room was very nice; a little larger than normal and very smart and clean.
The Great Room was clean and tidy and the menu not bad either.
All in all it made a very pleasant stay.

Great location, staff and rooms. BUT the cooked breakfast is terrible.
Buffet style composed of cheap sausages, solid scrambled eggs.
No pots of tea just a tea bag in a cup of fairly hot water.
First time I've stayed at a UK hotel and not had bacon on the menu.
I'd rather pay less and get my own breakfast elsewhere or pay extra for a freshly cooked breakfast.
If you want to know how it's done visit any Premier Inn for pointers.

I arrived late on Sunday evening. The staff were very welcoming (even gave me walking directions when I phoned). I bought the business package which allowed me 24 hours WIFI, staff on the Monday were very helpful and kind

Had 5 night break here last week. Hotel was very quiet with few guests. Surpised to discover on arrival that both the ground and third floors were being renovated, and whilst there was some noise from hammers and drills it was short lived and did not cause us any great disturbance. However should someone have told us about this work on reserving our room?. Hot choice for breakfast is limited and repetitive, but adequate. We did experience some noise from the smokers outdoor decked area in the early hours, it was -5C at the time! In summer on balmy nights this may cause some disturbance I would imagine.
Overall we enjoyed our visit, the hotel is clean and comfortable, in a good position for Poole town centre and has a large car park

We selected this hotel as it was close to the Lighthouse concert/theatre in fact it was only a 3 minute walk. The hotel is also close to the main shopping area and a 20 minute walk to the harbour.
We arrived a couple of hours to early but we found the staff very helpful, giving us useful local directions and allowing us to park at the hotel.
When we eventually checked in we were given a room (202) on the ground floor there were numerous dirty plates and dishes immediatly outside on the floor by our door which was unsightly.
The room itself was comfortable and tidy the only moan would be that the wall behind the headboard was absolutely covered in dust across it's width and height and needed a good hoovering, however it didi not spoil our stay and we would return to the hotel in the future.

This is the second time we have used this hotel and found it just as immaculate and friendly. The location to Poole Park, Dolphin Shopping Centre and the harbour is perfect. Friendly staff and good service. Breakfast very nice but would have liked, maybe, alternatives - bacon would have been nice instead of scrambled egg, beans and sausages. Anyway cold breakfast additions supurb. We are looking forward to booking again in the Spring. Thoroughly recommended.

The Staff at HIE Poole are very professional and friendly and willing to engage happily with the guests and assist them where ever possible.
a Great venue to stay in and I would be happy to return.
HIE need to remove the 'scambled egg' from the hot buffet it makes an otherwise enjoyable breakfast a little poor.

It is so important for me to have comfortable beds and nice clean pillows. I suffer from a bad back and do find Holiday Inn beds really good. They use beds with a sprung base and this is the secret of coping with back pain.

I like this hotel, non pretentious, you get what you pay for.
Always feel well treated, the breakfast is company Holiday Inn Express standard, but done well, in clean surroundings.
All in all, my preferred hotel when visiting the Bournemouth & Poole area.

Admittedly I was using my priority points so my stay was free but this was a great spot for my 2 daughters(11 & 8) to go shopping in the Dolphin Centre. They have stayed in hotels before but for some reason this one really hit the spot especially the breakfast bar they sat at!! Simple things!! The breakfast was very good compared to others I have stayed at(and traveling a lot for work I have stayed at many), the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.
I would definitely be going back probably in the summer so we can have a warmer evening at Poole Quay :-)

We stayed in Room No 108 from 1st - 4th Nov. Everytime we left the room, our keys were NOT working. We changed the keys at least 10 times during the stay!!!
The guy at the reception asked, ''Are you keeping the keys near mobile phone''!!! Really ridiculous!

This was our second stay at the Holiday Inn at Poole it is ideally situated with a short walk into the town or Poole Quay. The hotel itself is friendly,warm,clean and welcoming and we will definitely be staying here again

Staff very friendly and helpful. Beds comfortable. Hotel clean and very handily placed for National Express coaches, buses and Poole town centre. We enjoyed the good variety at breakfast but scrambled eggs tasted a bit odd ? Some people seemed to be missing bacon as an option

The location of the Holiday Inn Express at Poole is ideal. It is close to the centre, with easy access to all of the places of interest.
Our large ground floor room was well appointed and equally well maintained. The bathroom was first class.
With regards to the breakfast, the food was first class and there was sufficient choice to meet our needs.
The staff were most helpful.
We can recommend the Holiday Inn Express at Poole, it more than met our needs.

We booked Holiday Inn as we expected a comfortable room for a reasonable cost.
Due to the weather we had dinner at the hotel. It was not very good.
The room was cold and there was black mould in the tiles in the bathroom.
Thankfully we were only there one night!

I have spent a # of weeks here in 2012 and no longer can chalk up my experience to simply a one off room. Rooms are ok size and layout is average. Carpets are nasty to the point i will not even take off my shoes and walk on them in socks. Beds are worn and cheap... couch is stained.and requires a towel to be put down prior to sitting on it. I also asked for extra towels... even put a post it note on the bathroom mirror and never got a single extra towel. and their are no wash clothes or as they call them facial clothes there in the UK. Even though location is decent.... do not expect the standards of this location to match those in USA or even other hotels in the UK.

Spoke to manager and apologised for room not being made on the first night's stay asked if I had left "Do not disturb" door hanger on door answered no if so room would have not been made. He had agreed to add a further 5000 points over and above my qualifing stay these points have not as yet been added
