Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No heat and no internet. When we arrived Tuesday afternoon, the young lady at the desk confirmed our reservation for two nights, but there was no recognition of our platinum status, or offer of a gift or points that we get at other HIE hotels. When we got to our room it seemed clean and comfortable, so I decided to hook up to the internet to check out the local attractions and look for a place to eat. I tried for a half hour to get it working with no success. When I went down to the desk to report the issue, The young lady there did not seem too concerned about it and said that it had been out for a couple days. She gave me a cord and said that I should be able to hook to the wired jack on the wall. I took it up to the room, but that didn't work either. But the internet in the Business Office was working so I was able to get by. Eventually by Thursday morning they had put signs saying that the internet was under maintenance and was not available. That night when it got cool, so did our room so we turned on the in room heater, and that just blew cold air. But we made the best of it and found Port Aransas to be an interesting city, We found good food, and there were plenty of birds, ships and dolphins to see, though we hit some days that were a little to cool to enjoy the miles of beach that is there. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel but sub-par experience I stayed at this hotel for two days as a base for my business meetings I thought it would be nice to be close to the beach while doing computer reports on my day meetings plus is was cheaper since it was off season. I frequent HI properties but this experience was far below standards. First, the internet was down for 'servicing' the entire time I was there which eliminated my ability to complete my work. Second, there were probably 10 people staying in the hotel but they gave me the worst room in the building, two queen beds with a window 90% blocked by the entrance awning. When I asked for an upgrade, I was told it would be $40 more even though I'm a Rewards Club member. While the staff seemed nice, there was no person attending to the breakfast bar, no friendly greeting when I would come and go, and no one asked me how my stay was, even at checkout. The hotel was clean, my room was comfortable and nicely furnished . January 19, 2015
